In this video we uncover the inner workings of the art market and how the ultra-wealthy have been using their art portfolios to manipulate prices, by taking advantage of the inherent transparency issue in the art market in order to further exploit certain tax loopholes such as like kind exchanges and fractional donations to museums.

The art market has become a playground for the ultrawealthy to avoid taxes while hiding millions of dollars out of sight. The investment of choice is usually masterworks of famous artists. These multi-million-dollar art collections are then used to deduct millions in taxes. The ownership of these manipulated high-end artworks is usually not on the individual instead hidden under shell companies registered in tax havens.
The art storage is often handled by freeports, such as the Geneva Freeport in Switzerland. The paintings are often
The manipulated story of Salvador mundi is a perfect summary of the questionable dealings inside the art market. Salvador Mundi was bought by Saudi Crown Prince Bin Salman in an auction in 2017, and since than Salvador Mundi is gone out of sight.
Art dealers and art galleries are in on the action too, the auction houses are very powerful, and almost every part of the market is a monopoly of its own. The value of high-end paintings gets often manipulated, which requires policy makers to step in and create new regulations for the art market. Especially in the emerging contemporary art market price manipulations are increasing over time.

The vast majority of viewers have not the EYE necessary to see whether or not the painting is a Leonardo or not. I have the EYE because i am in the art circles all my life. My gandmother owned two galleries in Paris between 1947 and 1989. My father was a professional painter for 60 years, he owned two galleries in Montmartre from 1966 to 2013. I am myself a professional artist and have studied Italian Renaissance art from Giotto to Agnolo Bronzino. The sfumato technique used by Leonardo da Vinci is unique in his tones of golden glow. The drapery of the Christ image is unique to Leonardo. The face is similar to most of the faces painted by the great master. Infact, The Joconde (Mona Lisa) is based on a self portrait repeated several times throughout his paintings. The restoration was extensive, but absolutely necessary. All the da Vinci paintings (15) have been restored numerous times over the 500 years since they were produced. Most have travelled by horse carriage across Italy and France. Several were stolen and badly damaged. Therefore, restoring is not a negative. At a glance anyone who “ knows” what he or she is on about, Most Leonardo da Vinci experts agreed in majority that it is by the hand of the artist. This is my opinion. Going back to my gallery experience… we sold Picasso’s, Renoirs, Toulouse Lautrecs in the 1970’s. I have my own collection of paintings ranging from Picasso to Warhol. This in my honest opinion is a real Leonardo.

I don't know about art. to me is better _original_ than _manipulated and retouched_ I think one of your paintings has more value being original as it is, than retouched by other hands. I only see _"it is an original with paint and hands over it, making the original be manipulated, so the original is not original as it was once"_ just my logic: how can we consider an original so priced and valued with damaged and hands manipulating it with pain over it? it is just an euphoria and trendy. Coinds decreasing its value just with a little point of dirt, old bills certified losing their value because Grade A, B, or a fingertip found by UV, the Spiderman comic vs Spiderman certified comic with a very wide difference in price and value (?). A vintage cassette deck player very expensive because it is like a new vs. the same model just because the display has a little scratch and so: this Da Vinci with hands and chemicals or paint over it ! (?) just because the author? my prefference is to have the original untouched even alike trash paper, than a manipulated and external paint called "restoration".

It’s impossible to know if it’s by the hand of Leonardo. It has been so extensively reworked. A sfumato technique used 500 years ago and not restored until 10 years ago would surely be very decayed. It’s a beautiful painting but given it’s disputed provenance, it’s not a $450M painting. How much do you have your own paintings insured for? I’m intrigued….

Salvatore Mundi a painting by Dianne Modestini in the style of Leonardo da Vinci’s workshop. And the only reason for the public interest is because of Wealth worship. The person with the most money is Sanctified and worshipped. The object of most $ value become as a holy relic. Value is determined by the owners wealth. A poor man buys a painting it’s resale value almost nothing but a multibillionaire buys The same painting suddenly it’s resale value is in the millions

No. The doubt of the researchers is if the painting is ENTIRELY or PARTIALLY painted by Leonardo. It is NOT a modern forgery. It is probably partially painted by Leonardo. The papers point to the blessing hand, the curls and maybe the mouth being painted by Leonardo, while other parts painted by his students. But the painting is not a modern forgery. Sorry about my english.

By Leonardo or not it has so much restoration one has to ask if it is still the same painting . How much " restoration " is too much ? I would have stripped away the old over painting and left it alone .

It's not like it's real money that paid for it, simply pumping more oil for a few days, or jacking the price of a barrel up by a few bucks will more than cover any assumed loss.

I would love to know how much Dianne Modestini got paid in total for the restoration ...
@FinancialInterest101

We wanted to add additional detail on Modestini, but unfortunately there isn't much. Considering she is one of the strongest advocates of the authenticity on the piece makes you wonder how much skin in the game she had, which is also no where to be found. Technically she should have been paid a good amount for the restoration and that's it.

Zero chance of that. They need the telephone recording and verification of the bidder. Otherwise the bidder can back out once they realize they bid on a forgery.

When Bin Salman bought the painting in 2017, it was just the time when we was trying to create a new modern image for Saudi, in parallel he allowed women to drive for the first time and opened movie theaters. So you can argue that him buying a painting of Jesus could simply be to look less radical to the world.
@julienporisse9902

The reason the Prince Bin Salman bought the painting Salvador Mundi is to give credibility to the museums he is opening in the Arabian gulf. How best to start … by bringing a found Leonardo da Vinci into the state collection. Art is culture, culture and museum collections make up the intrinsic value of each state. Investing in art and architecture, developing the country into first world and pinacle quality is crucial. Congratulations to the Prince Bin Salman whose actions are building the vision he has of a cultural and economic power of the Gulf nations
