my aunt (mom's sister) knew Shanda Sharer & Melinda Loveless. Shanda would come over to my grandmother's house (my mom was 6 so I wasn't born yet) and spend the night a lot! then they stopped being friends & Shanda would bully my aunt ( her name is Brandy.) Melinda Loveless would also bully my aunt Brandy and would try to beat her up. Whenever Melinda's ex became friends with Shanda and started to have feelings for her, Brandy was worried about Shanda. Brandy told her to stay away from both Melinda & her ex. Shanda didn't listen, she had feelings for Melinda's ex too. Whenever Melinda found out all hell broke loose. Brandy was very worried but just tried to stay calm. Melinda would threaten Shanda all the time until she got her friends to kill Shanda. after that, the whole town was in shock and was scared for their kids! my aunt Brandy, thought it was her fault that Shanda was murdered. my grandmother moved to a different part of Indiana and never moved back. my aunt still to this day believes it was her fault Shanda died. Also whenever the police were investigating the case, they asked my aunt to be interviewed, but my grandmother wouldn't let her. & ( i can't believe they made a whole movie about the murder..)

I think Amanda might have kissed her ex goodbye because she was scared of her? Imagine being 15 and finding out your ex tortured your other ex for hours before killing her? I would also be like "ok honey love ya" cause I would be scared she would kill me as well. Amanda might have been a troubled kid but I don't think she was a psycho like the other girls.

I went to school with her cousin and at our church function I said "He's cute!" And my friends exclaimed "That's a chick!" I freaked and made some choice words which got back to her. She actually threatened me through other people. Even found my phone number calling to threaten me!! This was AFTER Shanda's death. I actually switched Catholic schools from the school Shanda transferred to the year she transferred in. My friends at the time were calling everyone including me when Shanda was missing. I'll NEVER forget that call after finding out what happened.

Omg this is so right? I had an ex who was mentally insane and stalking me, he didn't kill anyone but he was very dangerous. The only way to reason with him is if you talk calmly and sweetly(even if it's obviously fake) and then run anyway as soon as they're out of sight, because if I saw him in the street and showed panic or showed I was scared it would trigger something in him and make him very angry. But when I put on an act it was easier to reason with him and find an excuse to get away. So I completely agree with your theory.

I can’t imagine the pain she had to go through, the stabbing the beating , the spray in her fresh wounds... and buring alive has to be extremely painful. But what hurts me most is that her last word was mommy... when i was young every time i was hurt all i wanted is for my mother to come and save/comfort me...

Uh that happened years after the trial. IIRC, manslaughter is unintentional murder, like a drunk driver causing a fatal car crash. I don’t think they would have been tried for manslaughter for that. I think it would have been under something else, but I can’t think of the term. Besides, I don’t think it would have happened bc of double jeopardy.

Northern Lights Cannabis Indica wow everything about this statement is wrong A drunk driver hitting someone would actually be a caused death (idk exactly how to say it in english sorry) for manslaughter the intention to kill someone is still required but there can’t have been time to plan the killing Double jeopardy only applies to the same crime. Say you killed a little girl and a little boy, if your first trial is about the little girl and you get set free you CANNOT be trialed for THAT murder again, however you can be trialed for the little boy’s murder

You can’t be tried for murder so someone’s else’s actions. Like if I cheated on my boyfriend and treated him bad and to cope he drank and died cause of it. Technically I didn’t kill him even if my actions caused him to drink. I’m the eyes of the law he made that decision to drink to cope.

@camillafox2506
@camillafox2506 5 жыл бұрын
CosmoSsi AJ fair enough, I would be scared to intervene in the middle of the action too. But she had more than one chance to stop it before and during this torture. She’s been told about murder plan prior to picking up poor little girl, so she could’ve warned Shanda to stay away from the group. When all four came home to change clothes, there were adults in the house, she had a great chance to raise an alarm, or to call authorities secretly from another room. Shanda could’ve been saved at that point as she was still alive in the trunk of that car. Toni did nothing and just watched it for 8 hours straight. Even when they drove to the petrol station, she had a chance to call the police from there but she didn’t. Toni is as guilty as other three.

Okay, same here. Toni got a reasonable sentence, but the other girls should have gotten life, maybe even death penalty for Loveless.
@Author.Noelle.Alexandria
@Author.Noelle.Alexandria 4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I'm not sure what she could have done without risking Melinda turning on her. I'm not entirely sure Toni should have gotten as much time as she did, to be honest, because of how doing anything very easily could have resulted in her own murder, and she was the one who went to the police in the end. How many of us would believe someone who was pissed over an ex saying she was going to kill someone? A lot of us have, at one point or another, said in anger, "I'm gonna kill that fucker," but didn't even remotely mean it. I think it's asking too much to outright expect a 14-year-old to risk near-certain death to try to stop a murder she realistically wasn't going to be able to stop. When it came to telling someone when she was changing, there's something known as shock. I was a witness to my dad being shot in the head, and I was so calm I was afraid the police would think I'd done it. Thankfully, one of the cops told me I was in shock. It was a solid 16 hours before I'd processed enough of it to believe it, and then I got hysterical. It sounds like that's what happened to Lori. It's easy to say what you'd do in a situation until you're in that situation or one similar. Something so horrible that most of us can't truly imagine being there, and it's happening, like a nightmare out of your worst nightmares.

When I was a teen I had some super mean girls and one guy bully me. Nothing like this case but some teen girls can be horrible. When I was on 9th grade I left my tiny small town due to sexual abuse and moved 1200 miles away with just a backpack. I lost all my friends and felt so alone. Not to mention ow dealing with what I now know is PTSD. At my new school I was bullied for my Michigan accent, teeth, the way I dress. Daily glue was put in my hair, food dumped on my clothes, they made a horrible comic book about me and spread it around the school. The worst was my hair. When I was being physically abused my abusers would pull my hair until my scalp bled so I hair nee hair growth and it was spikey and random all over my head. It was like the biggest thing they joked about. hey had no idea what I was already going through.

I don’t know where you’re from but I’m from KY, USA (most unfortunately for me) and I’ve worked in the school system as a therapist and it’s so weird. They claim not to condone bullying of any kind and say they’ll not tolerate it, period. YET, when a kid does go and complain that they’re being bullied, it’s like “go sit down cause nobody likes a tattletale.” It’s like “come to us if someone is being bullied and we will help! But not really! Cause we don’t wanna be bothered with it!” And woe betide the kid who is considerably less fortunate complaining that they’re being bullied. Cause you know, if you’re a poor kid you’re a troublemaker. Ain’t no kids with money bullying people! It’s a joke.

Shanda's last words must be the most heart-breaking thing for a mother to hear after your kid had to suffer a passing as brutal and steady as hers; she and her mother who shall be haunted by this for the rest of her life hadn't deserved this to happen to them whatsoever. This occurred all because of an immature, rebellious teenager who hung with a group of mentally ill and easily influential people who believed in fabricated and edgy tales regarding Witches but more importantly; this was all because of Melinda Loveless' petty jealousy! 😭💔😔 Rest in peace, my dear.

This case was very hard to stomach. My daughter was born only a couple of months before Shanda. The pictures of the girls with their puffed out hair styles was so familiar. My daughter will turn 40 this year , with a grown daughter of her own. My heart does out to Shanda's mother. Also how heartbreaking for her father. Thank you for this case. As usual you did an exceptional job with covering the details.

It's absolutely SICKENING to know that every one of these monsters are going to be free by the end of the year. They deserve to live their lives in prison for what they did to Shanda. She had her whole life to live and they took that from her. And for Amanda, and even Toni- it's horrific that either of them were dragged into that. I've heard it before, but this case still makes me SICK.

Too many people are only seeing the wrongs and the terrible things within this “case” and here you are being one of the few who looks in the right direction. I do not pray or anything of that nature, but because of your words, I’ll save a moment of reflection and meditation for Shanda’s mother.
