On March 17, 2023, in the David Geffen Theater, the museum screened The Shining (1980), as part of the ongoing Spotlights series. Before the screening, Academy Award-winning director, animator, and editor Lee Unkrich discussed his new book Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining , the definitive compendium on the film that remains a haunting cinematic classic.
Written by J. W. Rinzler and published by Taschen in a limited collector’s edition of 1,000, the monumental book features hundreds of never-before-seen photographs, rare production ephemera from the Kubrick Archive, and extensive new interviews with the cast and crew. Unkrich provided a deep dive into the creation of his massive new book, including never-before-seen glimpses into the making of _The Shining_.
