That's interesting. I always thought about whether they help anyone, because I don't exactly know the extent to which the flashing lights in videos would affect an epileptic person. But you're saying that things like that do have an effect?

Hey! I’m the Silkbulb dev. This is uh really really crazy. I’m kinda freakin out, if we’re being honest. First off - thank ya thank ya for playing my game. It’s just lil ol me so it’s beyond validating. Two - I waaaanted to do multiple endings but - since were being honest - i put it out there assuming like 10 people would play it and i more or less just wanted feedback on whether it was working. That said, ya played it and time is precious - so I gotta make it clearer that there it aint a real choose your own adventure. The full game, however, will most def have far more meaningful choices. Three - ha I gotta agree on the edge lord comment - the most recent patch on steam nixed the “don’t worry you will” slide because it just felt out of character and too cliche. I’m rambling. And there’s already enough comments that I’m doubtful this will be seen - but regardless, I’m beyond pumped you played this and I can’t thank ya enough my dude.

I don't think Mark will ever understand how much it means to fans with epilepsy (like me) to have those flashing light warnings and then to have the words he says that will tell when it's safe to look again. I always feel so safe watching his videos and not having to worry about sudden flashing lights because I know he will always put a warning, it's so nice to have.

Can I just say that as a psychologist, this is so fascinating. Not only marks reactions, but the way people explain their reasoning in these types of questionnaire/experiment games. This is how you do analog horror. I hate the ones where it's just "sit here and look at weird images. " This one still had plenty of that, but there was _more_ happening. Things were happening around you, you had more agency than just a flat screen, even if it is still just choice a and choice b for most of it. Really nice- though I still think analog horror isn't quite my thing. Very few really do it well enough for me to enjoy.

I don't know if you meant just games, but I can recommend one analog horror that is in video format, with acted out live scenes, an original sountrack and a story to be put together - Dreams of an Insomniac, by Pastra. Even I found it interesting enough, and intriguing.

I love how the creepy little tunes and the feeling of not being alone fills you with so much dread. You see yourself getting eaten, and it is just kind of scary. Especially where you're calibrating with the joystick, and you have to put the dot on the mans head, killing him.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else do it with the audio clue and honestly, it feels like it should be the norm. I always wonder, when something like that or a timestamp isn’t shown, how those suffering from epilepsy are supposed to know when it’s over since I would guess you can’t sneak a peak unless you want to risk a seizure.

Hi Mark, today my wife and I went into a parinatal appointment and found out our baby has no heartbeat. I have some strange dream all the time. I dream of a springtrap and Freddy in some kind of cave and supposedly a springtrap helps you survive from Freddy. He works like this, you turn away and he goes. There were also charging modules like red is bad and green is good. You collect ten of them and kill Freddy with a powerful discharge and throw him down the cave. You take the rune and open the door, and then the springtrap torments you, tries to kill you.

I just realized, I think this game is about social anxiety. The bluescreen dialogue obviously is, but also the "this is a friend" and the correct answer is false followed by the "This is a stranger" and the correct answer is true. Maybe I'm just putting on my philosopher arthouse "avant garde bullshit" hat, but I can totally see this being all about social anxiety. The monster that gets closer when you look away to punish you for breaking eye contact or the fact that they made answering a ringing phone scary (I know it's a trope, but there was no heavy breathing or other cliches tied to it, just the act of answering the phone). But confronting that and answering the phone is also what ends the game. On top of that, the hands in the darkness are people watching you. Specifically people you can't read or understand. You know they're their, you know you and your activities are their current full focus, but there's no social cues to pick up on. No expressions or anything. Just silent, judging observers. Not to mention, the classroom like setup, the projector, the desk, the tile floor. School tends to be a common place for social anxiety to flare when you're young. And a lot of people feel that immediately upon revisiting it (which is why schools are such popular horror settings). Maybe I'm looking too deep into it, but I think I like this reading. The bluescreen, though, is absolutely on-the-nose about social anxiety. But I think the rest of the game is, too.
