I remember him crying over the phone with me in the mental hospital and him in a normal hospital but he didn’t care about himself in that moment. He just wanted his daughter to live a happy and healthy life. Three days later he died, went to sleep and didn’t wake up. This game is fascinating. Spooking you to raise your defenses, then leading you out of it to lower them past what they were before. Reassuring you after you feel vunerable to make sure the message hits home. Making you really think about yourself on a deeper level. Whoever wrote the script for this game knew exactly what they were doing and I'm so impressed.

As someone who struggles with viewing all my experiences as luck or lack thereof, rather than the actual input I may have put in, even after years of people like my mom telling me that I'm of tough kin and that we're survivors, I...really needed to hear that. I don't think I've ever been in a good enough place, mentally, to actually take the time to consider that maybe it isn't just an abundance of luck... I'm not the strongest person out there, but I do know that I am tough. I can tell that when I tell people around me stories, people older than me, and those younger as well. Sometimes it feels so normal to feel like you're fighting the world and everything in it that you forget how much it takes to even exist where you are today. It just gets a whole lot creepier when a game strikes you with the question, "are you alone?"

I bought this game a couple of minutes into this video, thinking it seemed interesting since I do a lot of introspection and wanted to experience it myself without knowing what to expect. Turned out it wasn't much more than a "pretty" personality test with some sweet yet shallow words and phrases at the end. They might have been meant sincerely, and maybe the creators just wanted to share them with others, but to me, at that moment, it really felt empty. Watching Mark go through all these questions and struggle here and there, sharing his thoughts and feelings on some of them, THAT was actually a good experience. It gave me something to reflect on, something to question some of my own answers and probe them from a different angle. And I think that is actually the way we can learn more about ourselves. Not only by looking deep inside ourselves (that too) but also by sharing with others, opening up, talking about ideas, feelings, fears, hopes, and so on. Not simply keeping them inside or throwing them out into the world, but having them heard by someone; observing how others react; hearing their opinions on them; maybe changing their own opinions even; and thinking about what others have to say, how they see things and experience them. So yes, in a way, that game gave me a lot to think about. And seeing how touched Mark was in the end, I even have to reevaluate my opinion on this game. A little. Thanks, Mark. Loved this video.
