Who else remembers Rossi's first season on the Honda five cylinder RC211V? The sound of that thing was almost other worldly when compared to the rest of the field at the time.

Had one of those Yamaha FZR250s about 20 years ago, I put a race can on it & the sound at the 19,000 rpm redline was unbelievable. You have to rev them that high because there's literally nothing below about 12,000 rpm lol.

I was lucky enough to see and hear some of those bikes in action during historic events and I attended several races of every motorcycling discipline I could, since 1990. I can say that the best feeling I had in this kind of events was when a Guzzi 500 V8 was screaming right in front of me, the goosebumps and the feeling in my guts were simply termendous! Only a very hot Morini Settebello 175 could come close. Thanks Visio, I really like your videos, especially those about motorcycles!

That V5 sounds a lot more like a twin, largely because of the shared crankpin and uneven firing order. I initially expected a baby V-10 sound like a Volvo or VW straight 5. Very cool!

Great episode mate😉 I had the Honda 250 rr that had a 21000 rpm redline and used it everyday at 21000 rpm!! The most amazing thing was that it had 100 000 kms on the odometer and still started and ran like new . That bike never let me down once . Crazy that in this day we have gone backwards in tech since then when it comes to small displacement engines.

The first race I ever went to was at Mallory Park, 1967 the "Race of the Year", and there were the following bikes racing: Ralph Bryans, Honda 125cc 5 cylinder 4s. Phil Read, Bill Ivy, Yamaha 125cc and 250cc V4 2s. Mike Hailwood Honda 297cc and 250cc 6 cylinder 4s. What a first event, never forgotten.

I think the Pratt and Whitney R2800 would be ideal for that. 18 cylinders, 2800 cubic inches... And it's air cooled, so no unsightly radiators!

O M G ! The MV Agusta 350cc I-6 is so awesome it makes be dizzy. I had no idea they made such a thing. I only wish they'd been bonkers enough put it into production. Allen Millyard could then make a 700cc V-12 out of 2 of them...which might be sacrilege for anyone else, but not the Great Millyard! Thank you for including this magnificent engine.

I hate to be critical but I was recently re-watching some of your old videos, and personally I much prefer the captions on the bottom while keeping the engine soundtrack as the main focus. I just feel like the new style videos have so little actual engine sound.

The Honda CBX 1000 with it's 1.0l straight-six comes to mind, but that Benelli sounds brilliant. Also, Ferrari 125S. 1.5l V-12!!

Hey VisioRacer, I think Dieter Hartmann-Wirthwein's inline 4 Honda Monkey would fit this list perfectly. 4 pistons, one crank, one connecting rod and a handful of rockers. Same design have lead to an extraordinary V8 Ducati! Even the sound itself is a good reason to look for it :) Cheers!

Hope all's well my man!? Honda car and multiple bike owner your speaking my language brother! Nice! The oval piston engines are mind blowing! BUT the V 5 is the only correct manner to balance out a 5 cylinder engine. I've owned the Isuzu inline 5 but they require the use of all types of balance shafts and even so they are not nearly as smoothly running as the split V5 engines were by Honda.
