Tbf a non-zero proportion of these posts consists of people who don’t do this 100% intentionally: 1. Some of them are just kids/teens, and we have to admit that almost all of us were cringy as kids/teens, 2. Some of them kinda seem like mentally ill people with some kind of traumatic obsession with math/physics/etc. I have encountered some people (especially in comment sections under math seminars/lectures on YT) who just seem to absorb a lot of technical terms and tie them into schizophrenic texts with zero coherence, and some posts in this video seem similar.

It'll never cease to amaze me when people think that IQ accurately measures someone's intellect. It basically is just pattern recognition and an ability to make a related conclusion. Which is a fucking tiny facet of one's brainpower. The fact it's the only personality point of these people is just that much more hilarious.

4:11 PSA: there is a concept in language called "slang", and words being shortened like that is in fact how language evolves and grows. "Do not" was shortened to "don't" through a similar, if not identical process to "I don't" or "I do not" getting shortened to "I'on". So what you are witnessing is the natural evolution of language and you are trying to stifle it. Great job OP

I bet it spread from speech into text because "ion" was already a word, so it doesn't get autocorrected, like how so many people use "defiantly" instead of "definitely". I often catch myself saying "I haven't" so quickly that it comes out as something like "I'ven't", but I've never actually typed it that way until now, because it's not a word and it looks weird, and "I haven't" just looks better. But I think something that's already spelt the same as an existing word would be much more likely to catch on.

11:17 is just a proof involving Latin hypercube Sampling(LHS), but it’s kinda weird because LHS is used for getting a random sample in statistics but in the end he is cropping the edges of the sample, to a certain area. so I feel as that would add some bias, which is the very thing your trying to avoid. But idk, I cant see the top of the page, I only did about 10-15 min of research, and I didn’t look too hard. Here's the thing about IQ; it's not about WHAT you know, it's about HOW you know. It is a measurement of your ability to figure things out, not your ability to memorize a book researched and written by someone else. For example, if one believes they are a genius because they studied quantum physics, ask them to present what would be an ACTUAL display of their intelligence, which would be how many papers on the topic have they published in peer reviewed journals, and how many non-falsifying citations have each of those papers received...? In other words, a fisherman who has never spent a day in school could literal be a genius, and have proof of it by showing the fishing method and tools that they have come up with to successfully caught fish... That is what genius and IQ is... Additionally, all the IQ numbers everyone presents are just results from a commercial website that generates money through number of visitors, so the website intentionally asking easy questions in a way that presents them as a difficult question, with the intent to give the visitor a fictitiously high score, which will drive that use to ask their friends & family to also visit that same website to beat their score, and so on... It's a marketing trick...
8 ай бұрын
Also, if these people had taken _actual_ IQ tests and were that smart, they'd know that any IQ test is only designed to measure IQ in a specific range. Even I know that and I'm an idiot of the highest order... I'm just good at taking IQ tests.

idk man i know this wasn’t the main point of your comment but i disagree with the idea that a good measure of intelligence in the quantum physics example would be the number of published peer-reviewed papers and non-falsifying citations of those articles. that’s putting a lot of faith in academia as an institution which…is kinda built on prioritizing certain conceptualizations of knowledge over others, not to mention money and other resources that aren’t equally available to everyone. it’s gonna be a lot harder for someone who didn’t go to college and/or go into a research publication-oriented job to provide evidence of their intelligence under that measure, even if they are genuinely intelligent and knowledgeable about quantum physics
@FullOfFallaciesVideo
@FullOfFallaciesVideo 6 ай бұрын

The assistant pastor at my old church has an M.D. but when she explains things, it feels so natural and simple. I asked her about it once and she said "If you can't articulate your high level knowledge, there's not point in even being smart. Smarter people will think you're dumb for not knowing how to read a room and dumber people will just think you're a smartass." Throughout my life and academic career, I've kept these words in mind.

4:05 hilarious.. utterly hilarious at how they thk this is a valid argument. 'ion' is AAVE and stems from the shortened pronunciation of 'i don't'. you could very well argue for the same reason that since the full phrase is 'do not', 'don't' just doesn't exist. english is ever evolving, and sub-dialects and whatnot are well known and understood by the people who speak it, which is, yanno.. the entire point of language. it doesnt make any of it more or less 'right' or 'wrong'.

Spending an hour with me would make it very apparent that I am not intellectually superior XD I'm just very knowledgeable about the specific topic I taught because I spent a lot of time studying and applying it. I wasn't born with that knowledge. In every other thing outside that one specific area of study, I am decidedly average lol. As are 99% of academics at the university level. There are multiple cases (though most are found in fiction shows) of actors just trying to imitate what they *think* a violinist would be doing when playing a piece, which, when an actor doesn’t play violin, ends up just being hilariously incorrect. In case you were wondering, the reason calculators handle this equation ( 1:17 for context) like that is because modern calculators fill the blank space in between equations with a Cdot with denotes multiplication, AKA The calculator solves for 3 x 3, which is 9. What I cannot answer however, is how they got 1 from the equation, or how brackets would help in finding the answer.
@niesy
@niesy 4 ай бұрын
It equals one as the scientific calculator multiplies the number before the bracket with the sum of the numbers in the brackets before the division. Its a whole debate in mathematics whether calculations involving brackets set up like this is counted in the bracket section of the order of operations (BODMAS/PEMDAS etc). Scientific calculators will always do calculations like this. It essentially rewrites the question to be: 6/((2x2)+(2x1) which equals 6/(4+2) = 6/6 = 1. or 6/2(2+1) = 6/2(3) = 6/6 = 1 If you look up this equation online, youll find most mathematicians saying the question itself is written wrong. When studying advanced mathematics at school, we were taught to follow the method of 6/((2x2)+(2x1) - I may be wrong since Ive been out of school for a few years now and haven't really been invested in mathematics enough to say i confidently/correctly remember but I believe this is taught as it correlated to equations involving parabolas and how to solve them. If someone else knows the correct reason why an equation may be done this way and/or knows more about this, it'd be quite interesting to know

@@niesy The obelus(÷) was historically used to denote _dividing the expression to the left of it with the expression on the right,_ though this was not widespread. The current international standard (ISO 80000-2) says the obelus shouldn't be used. (for division) The 'correct' way of writing this equation would be to write 6/2 as a fraction, with (2+1) trailing it. Having the entire right side as the denominator would imply the equation was 6/[2(2+1)] which is not true.
