A beautiful, flawless performance from Morrissey there. Breathtaking!

I got so many goosebumps watching this. I know the song well but never saw that live footage. Morrissey is an absolute genius. Every word you hear. Definitely one of the greatest lyricists of all time. And of course Johnny Marr on guitar. Incredible. A marriage made in heaven

The vocal performance on this live version in particular is, as I’ve read somewhere else, “emotionally exhausting to listen to.” Long live The Smiths. Great video my man.

This is one of my faves of The Smiths. When Morrissey is singing ‘Mother I can feel the soil falling over my head’ .. you literally hear him bleeding on this one. So sad, but so good!

Morrissey probably seems “upset” whilst walking off as the song most likely deeply affected him as it so has the power on many others just coincidental they the title is I know it’s over !

react to Morrissey the more you ignore me the closer I get. It explains why the smiths split up, Johnny (guitar) left the band and the drummer and bass player took Morrissey and Johnny to court because they felt like they deserved more money

Answer to question - IKIO was always either the closing song of the set or the end of the first encore. So...First on the playlist from one of Manchester's finest. Odd that Robk went for the live version. The Smiths weren't a jamming band, and most of their live performances are marred (so to speak) by too-rough vocals from Morrissey. Live versions of I Know It's Over are further harmed by the omission of two lines from that central (self?)-interrogation verse: "and if you're so very entertaining...and if you're so very good-looking, why do you sleep alone tonight?"

You should listen to Morrissey solo. I suggest Speedway, Spent the day in bed or Irish Blood, English Heart.

The music isn't right, the studio version has a whole other layer to it. I don't think it's regretful that they only had a few years together, I think they spent all their creativity on what they released.
