I like how Jackie showed his playful, gentle side with the little girl shortly before his murder. It's a hint of the the man he could have been if he'd avoided getting drawn into his family's way of life.

That getaway driver probably completed the entire Godfather trilogy while waiting for Vito to get in.

I wish Tony played mind games like this more often, he pushes Ralph to do what he wants while making it feel like it's Ralph's own choice.

He takes the shot, slowly walks to the car, opens the door extremely slowly, sits down slowly, misses closing the door twice, and still gets away. Vito is some kind of wizard.

Vito missed that shot, Jackie really died from suffocating on top of those three inches of snow.

If you can't see a 400 lb dude sneaking up on you then maybe you just aren't cut out for the streets. RIP Jackie Jr.

Excellently played. Jackie learned the most valuable lesson of his life before dying.

Common misconception is that Vito shot Jackie in the back of the head. But if you look closely, Vito's gun doesn't cycle when shot and doesn't have any blowback. This is in fact his son's cap gun that Vito used to attract Jackie's attention to tell him that Ralf and Tony agreed to give him a pass. But Jackie got scared, tripped over his own foot, fell face down into a snowdrift and subsequently drowned in three inches of snow

Vito is a pretty strong dude, though you got to hand it to him. There was literally zero visible recoil when he shot that firearm. He even managed to keep the slide from moving at all! True professional. He absorbed that recoil better than he absorbed all those guys in the club.

I like how he passed the big Vito without noticing him... just a shot before that he was walking the practically empty street, and all of a sudden big Vito popped into existence, and then the car popped into existence, while Jackie fell into a pile of show covered in blood. Whole pile of snow bloody as if he was shot with a elephant rifle. Yet it all works in a cut. Amazing show.

Vito spawns in behind, "Nothing personal, kid."

There was nothing we could do about it. Vito was a made guy and the suspension wasn’t.

The execution scene is so laughably bad. Vito as big as he is emerges from behind absolutely nothing in the middle of the street, and Jackie falls like someone committing insurance fraud.

The final scene is like a summary of Jackie's entire life and personality. He has twice shown his foolishness before a board game, scrabble and Chess, a word game and a strategy game, he says the wrong things and he takes what's said the wrong way, he tries to move his pawn two spaces at one point showing his eagerness to move ahead but not understanding the game he is playing nor the rules of it but unlike chess in the game of life he doesn't have a little girl allowing him a do over. Unfortunately nobody ever taught him to develop his knights, he can't see the whole board or his place on it nor does he really even understand the rules of the game and unfortunately he has neither time nor the patience to learn and when it blows up in his face he leaves his " knights" stranded and knocks over the entire board, if Ray Ray had been there when Jackie sped past Dino he could've told them both "I think you're done for" and he is, a short trip to the market is all that was left for him but what he really needs Tony owns and his business ain't welcome. Jackie's final gesture is a smile and a tease toward the little girl showing he never was a truly evil or malicious person just a childish one who couldn't see what was coming next or as Uncle June so eloquently put it "the kid always was a dumb fuck wasn't he? Didn't he almost drown in three inches of water." At home or at the penguin exhibit the least dangerous place of all Jackie Jr. Finds a way to drown whether in a small puddle or listening to Ralph Cifaretto he stumbles because of it and ends up face down but Jackie Sr. Wasn't around to rescue him this time and the penguins carrying a gun.

You know what they say: walk heavily and carry a small gun.

I love how Tony was just trying so hard to shift the responsibility onto Ralph.

He even shot him in the back of the head so his mother couldn’t have an open upside down casket at the funeral.

I always thought the chess game was the perfect metaphor for Jackie Jr. His whole life was like that chess game. Anytime he encountered something hard, he just gave up - and not just give up, but flip the middle finger at life. Can't handle Med School? Quits and pursues mob life. Can't handle being faithful to Meadow? Decides to see who-was on the side. Can't handle being low on the mob totem pole? Tries something really dumb (robbing the card game) to jump the line. Like Omar said, he should've played things out - persevered, or at least just tried a different but intelligent approach to his goal. No Med school? Try business school or something easier. Don't cheat on Meadow - let her down gently and with respect. Don't try jumping the line in mob life - keep your head, be a reliable peon for a few years, work your way up. He didn't do any of this - Instead, he'd just give up and do something stupid to fuck everything up. Very allegorical.

I absolutely love the random insertion of Michael K. Williams, its like somehow at some point in The Wire universe it intersects with The Sopranos's and he's just playing the same character. I love it.

I always wondered how Vito was able to sneak up behind Jackie Jr? The answer was revealed later in the show, showing Vito was "light in the loafers".

To this day, I can't work out how Jackie didn't notice Vito?? Where the hell was he hiding?!

Tony is never more terrifying than when he smiles.

This is one of the most implausible murders in the series. Broad daylight, middle of the street and the parade float is somehow stealthier than Solid Snake.

Of all the people they could’ve got to whack Jackie Jr, why in the hell did they choose Vito? His getaway took more time than the LoTR trillogy.

The little girl was adorable in this scene.

To this day, I still wonder what kind of angle Vito came out at or what obstacle obstructed the view of Jackie Jr so Vito could get the jump on him like that. It's like Vito appeared out of Fat Air.

Love how Michael K. Williams summarizes Jackie Jr.'s entire problem in life in a subtle way. "... you should have played it out. That's the only way you're gonna learn." Jackie Jr. never committed to anything in the show, he was always looking out for the next, better opportunity, but in doing so, he always ignored life's lessons until it was too late.

The cops could have shown up, taken DNA evidence, and solved the crime in the time it took Vito to get in the car.

The only thing more unrealistic than that gun is Vito being able to sneak up behind a guy….

Fun fact: As you can see, Vitos gun doesn't actually go off because it was a joke, he was here. However, Jackie saw Vito waddle like a penguin and decided to drown in three inches of snow. An old habit.

Tony out-manoeuvring Ralphy at every turn is brilliant. Ralphy is desperately trying to manipulate Tony to give the order so it doesn't come back to him but Tony is having none of it.

I liked the way Tony was subtle the way he "ordered" Ralph to put the hit on Jackie Jr. This show had some great writing.

"See you should have played that out, that's the only way you gonna learn" , i can't emphasize how much this line meant to me. Normally it won't mean much to me, but seeing Jackie jr's arc and this line, I reflected upon my own actions in life.

That frame of the pistol has bugged me for years now it haunts me in my nightmares

These are some of the most interesting scenes in the whole series, the way he plays his position, protects himself no matter what the outcome is and even leans Ralf into having Jackie Jr killed.

The most devastating aspect about this scene is the fact that due to death of Jackie jr, everything that his father did was in vain. A former mob boss who's had propably hundreds of men killed and has robbed tens of millions of dollars, and all that's left from that legacy is his widow Rosalie. So that's that for providing for your family to ensure better future for them.

One thing I like about Jackie's last scene is the difference between Matush and him being the getaway drivers in the botched robbery (Matush leaving at the first shot and Jackie stealing the car and leaving Dino to die) versus a professional driver. Vito was the perfect example for this. People have pointed out how slow he was to get into the car, and that's the point. It shows that a professional driver will have the total patience to wait for even a hobbling obese man to get completely in the car, whereas a low-level driver will be too panicked under pressure and will leave his crew. A professional also knows to drive away slowly, since screeching tires and traffic violations draw even more attention.

After robbing the card game, Jackie Jr goes into hiding by going into another HBO show

The fact that they chose a ford tempo for the get away car

"See if you can figure out the difference." Tony handing Jackie a layup and he still couldn't nail it. The difference was that nobody got hurt and his father was still alive to protect him.

1:54 This part is especially important, he was basically telling Jackie that his dead father's name had only so much weight whereas Johnny Soprano was alive and well when Tony and his current men robbed that card game.

I like how the slides on the semi pistols never move when being shot in this show. Meaning they don't reload.

That scene was so far fetched…I mean how does a 400 lb guy just mysteriously appear behind you…there must have been a spawn portal.

You gotta love Tony for trying to pull a slick move on Ralpie by trying to put the idea of giving Jackie a pass in his head. He hated Ralph and wanted him to give Jackie a pass just so he would be disrespected by everyone. He was always trying to humiliate and kill Ralphie slowly.

Vito sneaking up on somebody in broad daylight is a miracle.

Jesus, even rewatching a scene like this the implication Tony wants Ralphy to kill him is crazy, no idea how I didn’t pick it up on the first watch, just shows how incredible the dialogue is.

This hit is about as believeable as the ending of Jurassic Park when the TREx sneaks up on everyone
