Here's the fantastic Spinners performing live How Could I Let You Get Away, with Philippe Wynne doing impersonations of Al Green, Otis Redding, and Sam Cooke.
The Spinners rate as one of the most fantastic groups along with The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Dramatics, The OJays, The Stylistics, The Whispers, The Intruders, Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, and The Delfonics. They were apart of the golden age of classic soul groups who mesmirized us with their dances, energy, and love songs.
It's Ashame, Rubberband Man, Mighty Love, Could It Be I'm Falling In Love, I'll Be Around, Mighty Love, One of a kind Love Affair, Ghetto Child, Sadie, How Could I Let You Get Away, Then Came You, Games People Play, Love Don't Love NoBody, were among their biggest hits, making them the premier group of the 70's.

I Love the Spinners. But what I really LOVED WAS watching PHILIPI WYNN ON STAGE ‼️ HE WAS A TRUE PROFORMER IN EVERY SINCE OF THE WORD. IT'S SO UNFORTUNATE THAT THEY'RE NO LONGER AROUND.❤️

Mid to late 70's, they were as good as anybody. Beautiful FULL albums. Phillipe Wynne was a special soul, who died doing what he loved....going into the audience with his mic.

Phillppe Wynne and Al Green had a singing style that was a cut above anybody in the R&B lane- before or since. Wynne as lead singer for The Spinners, and Green as a solo artist ruled the game. Nobody could touch the color and style of their vocals. True GOATS!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

THIS MONTH IN MUSIC HISTORY: 45 years ago this month (April 1973), the Spinners released their self-titled album (#1 US Billboard R&B album charts; #14 pop album charts). This was the group's 1st album since switching record labels from Motown to Atlantic, and their 1st with songwriter/producer Thom Bell. [04/2018]

Sadie...Watching the Spinners perform is such a treat because they are such a musical balanced group. They provide you with tears of sadness, joy, and humor. Phillipe Wynne...I've just started following this late great recently and watching his acts on KZfaq and other broadcasts. I've never seen an entertainer that was able to capture an audience with his style. I've never seen a singer adlib, and rhyme with such prestige. Great entertainers are not taught they are born!!!

How can you NOT enjoy this? Tight vocals, choreography, showmanship, smooth harmonies... How can people compare todays 'singers' and the concerts of now to what was. I think I'd prefer :45 minutes of this to 3 hours of Chris B., Dr.Ake, or the "Pied Piper of Love". But that's just me - Opinions from an 'Old Head'.

Philippe Wynn may very well be the greatest improvisational singer of all time. In every live performance you see of his, he always incorporates some genuine, unique conversational-type ad libs. He isn't widely enough known. I guess part of that is due to truly great unison in which the Spinners performed and recorded...such great harmonies. I still believe he should be more recognized for his unique talent and outstanding voice...one of the best ever.

AMAZING, AMAZING AMAZING!!! Phillipe can pay tribute so gracefully to Al, Sam and Otis with the same melody of How Could I Let You Get Away without missing a beat. Phillipe was a stone cold showman and about thirty years ahead of his time. If Phillipe were around in the video and later social media he would be a bona fide master. I remember when he died of that heart attack about a year after Marvin died. The Rubber Band Man lives!!

Oddly, the first time I heard this song I didn't care much for it. Now I can't get enough of it and wonder what I was thinking initially. So beautiful - the words, the music, the musical dedications are beyond amazing!
