I spent 12 years addicted to opioids and was able to get clean a few months before these fakes oxys ravaged the streets of my local town. I’ve had around 20 close friends and family die from opioid overdose and the most recent just last week. Proud to say I’m 3 years, 4 months clean. To any of you out there struggling with opioid addiction there is life after addiction and it can be done!

@L3GHO5T
@L3GHO5T 2 жыл бұрын
@@moneyalways7674 I was a functional drug addict so I ALWAYS went to work because if I didn’t I wouldn’t get my drugs. I never stole so I always had the support from my family. I overdosed several times so a big thing was, I conscious of what I was doing to my aging parents mentally and dragging them through the gutter. I seen my rock bottom through someone else’s eyes…so as much as I did it for my self I did it for them. I went onto suboxone and tapered off it. I had many unsuccessful try’s prior to this but it was always cold turkey but the suboxone was a one and done, I wish I would have done it sooner but hey things happen for a reason I guess. Are you battling with addiction?

Keep up the good work Jeremiah. From all the documentary I watched. Staying clean from fentanyl is extremely hard. It is like a perfect designed warfare chemical, designed to get any human addicted after just 1 try, and eventually kill us.

Only 1-3% of pain patients get addicted to their medicine. ALL the crap on the news is mostly BS exaggerated crap to make u believe there's a pain pill problem, when SAFE SUPPLY is our only answer.. You might wanna rethink that statement. He just caused u a life of suffering for no reason, sadly

@@philipschaffer9544 there is no prescription substitute. & For the record prescription pain medication IS safe. If addiction runs in your family you need to be careful & be sure to only take them as directed by your doctor... The only other thing CPPs (chronic pain patients) have found that helps some people, other than actual pain meds, is Kratom. It's a plant related to coffee/caffeine but can help with pain. The red strains seem to help best from what I've found but not everyone can tolerate it & it doesn't help everyone; especially those with more severe issues. There's also discussion of Kratom having the potential of being habit forming as well. Personally for me (& addiction runs strong in both sides of my family) prescription pain medicine is the only thing that helps & I've tried everything available to me (that's safe, I won't ever take a chance with street fentenyl, that's what's really causing the crisis not Rx meds). Please don't let all the fear mongering cause you unnecessary suffering. I've been a CPP for 22 years now (over half of my life) & have seen a LOT, so I'm just trying to help. Lots of info has come out now. The CDC admitted they conflated the numbers of deaths & didn't separate multi-drug intoxications & counted them as just Rx meds & all kinds of other BS. Also, the mme they added to their 2016 guidelines was based on JUNK science. Too many issues to count. Sadly, this crisis won't end until the gov't goes after what's actually causing these deaths; illicit fentenyl & it's analogs flooding our streets! Not safe prescription medication

I am one of these people we are human. I'm an addict. I'm also in pain everyday all day. I also don't take pain medicine anymore or any drugs cuz I quit. But I know why people do this sometimes and I had my leg cut off sent me home with five pain pills I have thought of going to the street rather than suffer in pain my whole life sometimes I wish I was dead from the pain. Not only did I quit taking Vicodin after 15 years which was hard I quit Klonopin which was 10 times harder. It's a hard story to some people need pain medicine that's why they go to the street they'd probably rather be dead than suffer in the pain that I am. These people are human beings

I was in Seattle just a couple of weeks ago on a family holiday. We had consecutive murders and heard gunshots on the streets! My mum has renamed ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ to ‘Survival in Seattle’ because we never felt safe on the streets during the short time we were there. So sad. The streets are plagued with homelessness and I understand economic changes in Seattle have driven people out of their homes. Look at the Tenderloin Linkage Center in SF which has centralised their issue into a more manageable space rather than spreading into a whole city. We felt far more safe in SF rather than Seattle because it’s far better managed. I do respect this report is on drug problems but from my experience it heavily links with homelessness - though not always!

A big part of this is that it's a much cheaper and stronger pain relief than other drugs, the access of the drug skyrocketed a while ago. Unless homeless people and other people struggeling with addiction are taken care of, this is just another way to reduce their pain. The core issue here is mental health and oftentimes childhood trauma, that makes people get addicted to pain relieving drugs

You are not responsible for your friends death. The lack of proper treatment facilities for the poor and most destitute in our country keeps addicts going through the system for profit. We jail people here for having a *treatable illness* in this country and it has never worked. I am glad your friend's life being lost so terribly was enough of a wakeup call to you to seek help or to make the decision to tough it out. Just went to a funeral last Thursday, an old friend of mine overdosed. I’ve been clean a year. But these pills are what threw me into a loop. It’s kids that are seeking out these pills. I’ve know people to have huge bags of these pills saying they got em off the dark web, I didn’t care. Its really a slippery slope and was a very dark time for me. I have lots of thought about this, but RIP to the millions of families losing people they love.

They "forgot" to mention an important fact that's bite been acknowledged. Some chronic pain patients having their pain medication cut off &/or lowered to ineffective doses for no legitimate reason lead to some going to the streets in desperation contributed to this. The governments created a demand only to act shocked it was supplied.

PRESS RELEASES AMA welcomes draft CDC changes in opioid guidance FEB 10, 2022 The following statement is attributed to: Bobby Mukkamala, M.D. Chair, AMA Board of Trustees Chair, AMA Substance Use and Pain Care Task Force “The American Medical Association (AMA) applauds the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for listening to its Board of Scientific Counselors, its Opioid Workgroup, the medical community and patients with pain by acknowledging the original guideline missed the mark. As the draft says, the CDC guideline should not be ‘a replacement for clinical judgment or individualized, person-centered care.’ We could not have said it better. “The AMA will review the draft guideline and offer further comments. But for nearly six years, the AMA has urged (PDF) the CDC to reconsider its problematic guideline on opioid prescriptions that proved devastating for patients with pain. The CDC’s new draft guideline-if followed by policymakers, health insurance companies and pharmacy chains-provides a path to remove arbitrary prescribing thresholds, restore balance and support comprehensive, compassionate care. The previous guidance has harmed patients with chronic pain, cancer, sickle cell disease, and those in hospice. The restrictive policies also failed patients who are stable on long-term opioid therapy, and it has denied care to post-surgical patients and those with an opioid use disorder. The list of misapplications of the 2016 guideline is long, and its impact has been tremendous harm. “In addition, the guideline did nothing to stem the drug overdose epidemic sweeping the country. In fact, the epidemic has become more lethal despite the CDC restrictive guideline due to illicitly manufactured fentanyl, fentanyl analogs, heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine. “States and insurers have turned the guideline into laws and unbending regulations, preventing physicians from treating patients as individuals with specific needs. The AMA outlined its concerns and recommendations (PDF)in 2016 and 2020 to the CDC. Good program. With all the division in the country, I'm sure that most can agree that no parent should have to lose a child to addiction. We've lost nearly an entire generation to fentanyl-laced drugs. Yes, street drugs and buying prescription opioids are already illegal, but this is different. There's never been this many deaths and hospitalizations from a single drug. The people addicted to opioids will be dealing with addiction for life. This is one of the few drugs that re-wires the brain, and people would risk death rather than go though withdrawals. It's terrible but there's still hope. If we treated the addicts, they would return to being productive members of society.

I am 100% sure he's involved with other guys who likely got him hooked on crystal meth. All the signs are there. I've tried talking to him a couple times now, and offering support so he can get back to a normal life again. But, he wants no part of it. You can't help someone unless they want it. Breaks my heart. He's a good looking, middle-aged man with a great job. He's now starting to look the part, it's pretty sad. I don't expect him to be able to hold his job in the near future. That's when he's likely gonna fall down that rabbit hole and be irretrievable.

He graduated school early, had been in a machine shop since he was a kid and needless to say he had the skills and know how to handle his own. Was it sports as well. Held a great job paying nearly six figures. And in the end, old sports injuries that led to pain killers which stopped being prescribed and I believe he went to the street for it. Not completely sure. All I know is the man is gone, his children fatherless and wife widowed, all before he was 34. It can happen to anyone, don't be afraid to help someone in need.

From my own experience i have learnt that I am in no position to judge anyone and the reason why they choose this, but with so many effected by this. This is a failure of the healthcare system. I was in a car accident, did physical therapy for months and now I still can’t walk without pain and I have to jump through so many hoops to even get a chance at pain management medication. 600-800mg of Ibuprofen or acetaminophen does nothing for me. I had to pay a doctor just to recommend an MRI to prove that I am in pain. Now, I have to pay the hospital doctor for the MRI. Then, I have to pay another doctor to review the MRI and run tests on me to prove I am not lying about my pain and only if the doctor believes I am not lying will I get some medication for pain and it’s not guaranteed I get what I need. People are so quick to demonize people who are in pain but it’s an epidemic because with and especially without health insurance the costs are too high and it takes several months of appointments before you have a chance at getting anything to help.

I have been suffering and unable to work for three years. I received no treatment , no drugs, no recommendations, and no help for disabilities or any other government agency. I refuse to take fentanyl or heroin if it was even possible to find real one. I've gone from suicide thoughts to wishing I will die to now I'm just becoming angry and violent. I've never even been addicted to pills. My last surgery was awful. I was given 10 of 5 mg hydrocodone. That worded for two days. Then suffered worst for three weeks and now back to hurting as always. But the surgery was not for the pain I went in for. That they told me they wouldn't or couldn't help. I've even asked the doctors to remove a body part to see if it will help. They just laughed. I've had at least 6 surgeries. None of them until now was I left to suffer while the medicine sits on a shelf. They had no problem cutting me before I became broke. Now I get nothing. If they gave me drugs and I became dependent it would be the least of my worries. At least they would be doing something.

For the nearly 40 states that have codified the guidelines-as well as the insurers and pharmacy chains that have policies based on the guideline-the new draft guidance is good place to start with overhauling policies and laws.

If they really want people to get off this stuff then they need to make it easier to get help. Even getting the medication to help you get off this stuff costs a ton of money and requires you to go to a doctor every month just to give them money. The whole system is set up for addicts to fail. Now, if you have money and a great family to help you then it's a lot easier to get off these things. But if you have nobody but other addicts surrounding you it can be nearly impossible to quit.
