Picked up one of these a couple of months ago and I'm a big fan. My first analogue EQ (other than the 2-band EQ in my Elektron Analog Heat). Surprising how cheap it is and I'm looking forward to getting an accompanying bus compressor to go with it in my new(ish) lunchbox.

At the price of it, it is a no brainer. I would love it if the low end would tighten a tad more but overall, running your group tracks through this thing? Nice touch.

Definitely a no brainer. Not much character but can help shape the sound and isn’t overly hyped

@@RPMusicStudios I think the key is because it is so clean, it can add that clarity or feeling of detail in the way it shapes the highs. At full price I would have looked at something else so SSL was smart to bring the prices of their 500 series down. I hope they follow suit with more of their 500 series.

I am using mines with Cranborne Adat 500. It seems like it opens up the stereo field. I am using on mixbuss as Hardware I/O.

When I use this EQ on my master stereo buss… I seem to lose a bit of the depth in the kick drum and the mix sounds a little thinner. This is when I have everything set to default. Is this normal or am I missing something or setup something wrong?

I haven’t noticed this issue but I haven’t been using in mixes. I use it on stereo guitars a lot.

If it's not a "coloured eq" and more of a clean eq, would a quality plugin be enough? or does the SSL Ultraviolet Eq bring a little more?

For mixing I’d say yes, a quality plug-in will be fine. I like using eq while tracking so having a clean eq compliments my character eqs.

@@RPMusicStudiosbought it. I recently got a pair Neve 542’s also. I was really thinking of the SSL fusion but it seems most reviewers are reverting to using something else and getting less use of the Fusion. It would be great to have nonetheless.

Ugh I feel your pain. I think SSL should give early buyers some kind of perk. I’ve never seen a price drop so dramatic .

I bought 6 at full Price when it came out then ssl dropped the price im still Paying off my debt. These are really cheaply made from Behringer parts just like all the new ssl. Cheap and made in china.
