I think this episode shows a realistic human reactions to a coming catastrophes, and its interesting to see how different each inidvidual's responses under extreme stress will be. As an ordinary person, I generally support Wade's actions in most situations so far. However, from a researcher's pov, I dont think I'll be okay in the beginning for my tech that I've spent blood and tears to be used to kill innocent people (especially kids) regardless of the circumstances. Most of us create inventions for a good causes, not as tools for murder, except as a last resort. So, I kinda understand Auggie's reaction tho, would be a huge blow to my moral standing. This series def triggers my ethics and moral belief in some scenes and I LOVE that, as it keeps me thinking on where to draw the line when it comes to research for new tech invention and their applications. Cant wait for more reaction from you guys in the later epi! Im so happy yall pick up this series since you guys are one of my fav yt reactors!

A lot of people don't remember the "Heaven's Gate" cult that offed themselves in San Diego, California in the 90s without an "imminent" (even if unbelievable) threat...the start of this episode is NOT that far off from reality.

This is right here. I don't understand why people feel that because they were working with aliens, that means that their lives don't matter that killing them was for the greater good. I find Auggie's feelings valid, I mean, a tech I envisaged and built to help people was then used as a weapon to murder people, including innocent kids. Hell no, I'd be done with them too.

It’s def annoying but I feel like Auggies reaction to everything makes a lot of sense and its really realistic even with the knowledge of aliens coming to invade it doesn’t change the fact that she witnessed a bunch of kids getting slaughtered and the people in change not having any care in the world. And also dealing with all that guilt from knowing it’s your technology she just wants to separate herself entirely from it all but yeah in the grand scene of things she should be helping

This channel is goated, but it's always surprising to me that they use information that is confirmed to the viewer to try and debunk someone's decision. Like yeah we know for a fact that they are gon be 400 years, but the average civilian doesn't know that all they know is the stars blinked, an eye showed up in the sky and called all humans bugs, even if someone is claiming it will be 400 years to them it looks like they are already here. For most people they would get mentally clapped by that. Great videos either way and hope the vacation been mint.

That is so many generations ahead that is beyond even great great grandchildren.

Keeping it vague to avoid spoilers for the season, the books or any plot points: what the show's adaptation brings to the story with the Oxford 5 characters, and their different approaches and emotions, is the weight of the existential drama. The point of art with existential themes is to think about how you would live if you knew there was no future, or no tradition to uphold, or no constraints, and then to realise that we are all checking out at some point and so we should all think about how to live better in the moment. The books are kinda bad at the human stuff, and I like that we have the show version, alongside.

I think the opposite, she makes the same argument as those who do not believe in climate change in the sense that if humanity cannot change the climate why worry about those who are yet to come. Same thing about Hiroshima and weapons, she tries to distance herself from everything and for me she ends up being a hypocrite, without the San-ti her research would continue and would inevitably be used as a weapon just like with the combustion engine and plastic, the The irony is that when she published the research on the Internet, someone somewhere would use it for purposes contrary to hers, in other words, it went around in a circle and ended up in the same place.

"Any number of those kids could've grown up to just help the aliens, or wanting revenge for their parents" So you advocate for punishing people for the crimes they could commit rather than crimes that they have committed. They're children. They're malleable. They're futures are not set in stone. "When it's a battle for the continuation of our species, anything goes" Anything goes? Really? Do you have any idea what kind of heinous sht you can get away with with that kinda logic? It's easy talking about sacrificing kids when they're not your own. If you're on the side that can easily shrug off the death of innocent children (and they were objectively innocent), how tf are you not the villains in this story?

People are getting pissed off at her for acting like a human would. Flawed, angry, and too proud to admit they are scared and feel shame about their actions. I'm not expecting her to come out of these situations like some stoic action hero. She's only smart in the scientific field, but knows nothing about how to fix her own life and problems. She's struggling in an extremely realistic way.

And specially with Jin answering “Someone who fought back”, I mean I’m sure you know very well that’s not Cheng Xin, unless this is supposed to be a VERY ironic line. And regarding the “who gave you the right to decide for all of us”, every time I see that part, I always think of the same answer: No one gave me the right. No one will ever have that right. Disclaimer, I ofc never was in a situation where I had to choose somebody to live and somebody to die, but I like to think that I would be able to see beyond the scope of my own person when the entire planet is in danger and the people who lost their lives were actively trying to mass murder our entire species. Which is why I imagine people find her decisions annoying, to not be able to let that go and see that she would be saving more than she is dooming.

She saw her father brutally murdered on stage for some stupid belief, she was betrayed by two people who she thought she could trust. she saw the stupidity of her fellow people believing in non-scientific religious belief and how it gets people killed and gets in the way of scientific process. How selfish humans are to kill the planet for their personal greedy gain. I can understand why in her position she lost faith in humanity and honestly probably wanted revenge mostly.

I think I know why there are a vocal minority of people who agree with a defend Auggie, it's because she parrots the ideas that these Twitter folks have, how the big men upstairs in things like the government who are realistically trying to do the best they can for their citizens but either make mistakes due to being human or due to systemic things that need to happen like keeping allies happy that we don't like but need. It's so much easier for these people to not use their brains and instead say that they're all fascists and evil. She squawks about things like world peace, giving potable water to people who don't have it Yada Yada it's just an example of utopian ideals that people parade around on the internet for easy likes from others but in reality aren't realistically plausible.

@pintolerance785
@pintolerance785 Ай бұрын
You can't do that though, enter somebody's life after being diagnosed with cancer and for sure dying and asking for their love, because it's unfair to that person, it's the same as when someone proposes to someone who they don't actually have a big connection to in front of a crowd of people, because they can't say no and it's unfair to them. Sure it would be good to talk to her about how he had feelings for her, maybe knock boots with her for a night but you can't just force yourself into someone's life, knowing that you're gonna leave them.

Auggie's reaction is fair. She invented something to make people's life easier and to improve life and they turned it into a weapon and killed kids. She's also not a soldier so killing kids for the greater good isn't in her training. I don't have a problem with her reaction at all. It's just annoying to us because it wasn't our inventions and we didn't kill them. From the outside looking in she's tripping but she's tripping justifiably

@@GewalfofWivia Yeah, true, but in war many innocents die; children included despite the Geneva convention. Not saying killing children is right: but when the survival of our species is at stake: it was bound to happen, sadly. These guys obviously aren’t normal soldiers operating under strict laws. They’re approved to do whatever it takes by most governments of Earth. It’s either kill everyone on the Judgement Day or not have the data to know what we’re up against to prepare and become extinct in 400 years. It’s a fucked up situation all around. I don’t blame Auggie, she has a conscious and that’s good but in a galactic war where the survival of our species it as stake; you need SOLDIERS who will do whatever it takes. That’s just the way war is; it’s never pretty: following a convention or not. A good example of this is how the Northern Vietnamese soldiers held back the U.S. (a far more advanced and uniformed army). They were brutal and they did whatever it took in the war. If you want to defeat someone better than you; you can’t play by “rules”.
