Where did Europe started? How did the European Union originated? With the Union of Lublin (1569) the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was created. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów) consisted land that is today part of countries as Belarus and Ukraine. With policies like Golden Liberty is was a very unique state. In this video you'll learn about when Poland and Lithuania were one country. Why did the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth collapse? It was because of the Partitions of Poland. I will speak about the start of Europe: the rise and fall of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1569 - 1795).

Actually, Jadwiga had been crowned king (sic!) not queen (In Kingdom of Poland there was no position of crowned queen, hence this workaround).

actually, at its peak, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth consisted of land of today's Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and Russia, so not only Ukraine and Belarus, but I get your point in the description. also Poland, as a lone nation (without Lithuania in the real union) for short time also controlled a bit of today's Moldavia, Czechia, Slovakia and I think even a small chunk of Germany, but that's the medieval era so not really related to topic. anyways, cool video!

In fact too much democracy. The Liberum Veto act of single representative of the parlament could kill otherwise progressive or needed reform. The problem was that Polish/Ruthenian nobles created their own mistique around them selves, while the West constantly modernize itself and as Stefan pointed out, was in lookout outside of Europe for resources. Eventually the country was ruined by wars with Osman Empire and Kosack upraising, War with Sweden - the famous Deluge, and it couldn't compete with the gaining strength Moscow. By the end of 1600s the Commonwealth was too beaten up, too poor, too backward to face challenges, and once Stettsinian Sophia 'got rid off' her husband and proclaimed herself a sole ruler of Russia, well it was a final nail to the coffin. I heard that she was also responsible for moving Jewish population from Russia to parts of ex-Commonwealth, so maybe Hitler's anti-semitic obsession is nothing new.

Could you do the order of battle of the Polish cavalry brigade in September/October 1939 (do not include the 10th Cavalry Brigade which was fully motorized and partly mechanized; just the horse-mounted units). They do deserve more respect than they get. And yet, they were part of a problem. After the 10th Calvary Brigade was converted into a motorized unit, the other cavalry brigades refused to undergo such transformation. This meant that instead of getting 10 or more motorized-mechanized brigades by 1942, Poland most likely, if the war did not start in between 1939 and 1941, would have ended up with 4 such motorized-mechanized brigades by 1942 because the money that was supposed to be spent on the transformation had to be spent on the horse-mounted cavalry.

Great video about the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, but if you do video about the Polish cavalry could you also include the last horse-cavalry on horse-cavalry battle in Europe, Battle of Krasnobród that took place on 23 September 1939, and the last successful cavalry charge in Europe that took place during the Battle of Schoenfeld (Polish: Szarża pod Borujskiem [or] Żeńskiem) that took place on 1 March 1945. In the latter battle, the Polish cavalry actually suffered lower losses than the Polish infantrymen and tankmen. The charge worked because the Germans prepared defenses against tanks and infantry, but not against cavalry.

0:42 Polsih true, but not queen, her formal title was King, and as king she was reffered to . 1:30 btw, here are written various proffesions (as follow ; shoe maker, gold crafter, cyrulik (someones responsible for baths, eaiser medical treatments, tooth removal or beard cuts), merchant, painter, butcher, musitian, clothmaker, ham maker (only one refered here as 'she'), and there is also one called Jew, and one caled Ormian. 3:20 Artwork here is called "Rejtan", which is name (or last name possibly) and covers semi legendary story of polish nobleman known as Rejtan, which during signing of participation blocked the doors, so none could leave without killing him first

The biggest mistake Lithuanians made was the Lublin Union. As the result of it most ancient in Europe Lithuanian culture was destroyed. The ethnic territory of Lithuanians decreased significantly. After this Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth collapsed - the culture that gave birth to it disappeared.

@@naujadienaYour so called 'fact' is an absurd. Do you know how many Lithuanians lived in The Commonwealth?
@naujadiena
@naujadiena 4 жыл бұрын
@@marcinterlecki6021 Much more than Polish and Russian sources claim. Even the inhabitants of the northern part of present-day Poland (including Warsaw) spoke Lithuanian during the Jagiellonian period, only the conquerors and Christian priests spoke Polish. Later, those conquerors thoroughly censored the history, as if the Poles (slavs) had always lived there. Gradually there was a forced polonization over the centuries, such was the pope's policy: to exterminate all the descendants of Apollo (lith. Dievulis, Velinas, Upelonis, Balys, Balonis).
@marcinterlecki6021
@marcinterlecki6021 4 жыл бұрын
@@naujadiena Your claims are completely baseless and factually absurd. FACT #1 There was no conquest, in XIV c. Lithuanians voluntarily and, what's more important, deliberately went for the union with Kingdom of Poland. FACT #2 As pagans they were excluded from European politics and were only attracting crusaders supporting Teutonic Knights. FACT #3 Lithuanians lacked written language and literate clergy, so they had to run whole Grand Duchy through Ruthenian boyars. FACT #4 Lithuanians consisted no more than 15% of GDoL population, with their Ruthenian subjects being far more developed culturally (religion, language). FACT #5 Importing Latin and Catholicism from Poland allowed Lithuanians to stay separated from Ruthenians, otherwise they would dissolve just like Varegians did. That's why they've excluded Ruthenians from politics of GDoL through the union of Horodlo. FACT #6 Second time when Poland saved Lithuanians ar.ses was in XVI c. when money from Kingdom of Poland virtually allowed Lithuanians to continue wars with Muscovy (which they were losing badly). FACT #7 There were some 700k Lithuanians in The Commonwealth - more or less same number as Jews, while The Comomnwealth had population of 11 millions (at it's peak in the beginning of XVII c).
