Narrated Ali ibn Abu Talib (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said: If only one day of this time (world) remained, Allah would raise up a man from my family who would fill this earth with justice as it has been filled with oppression. (Sunan Abi Dawud 4283, Book 38, Hadith 5)

Language was taught to Adam PBUH and so prior to it bowing may have been a way of saying Salaam/salute or showing respect - could be a possibility! So, bottomline, for that timeline/timeframe Sajada may have had a different meaning like offering sacrifice on an altar to God and the sacrifice being taken as a sign of your good being accepted was the norm in the time of some prophets but not anymore! So Salaam Alaikum was taught and may have become a greeting and a form of cordiality and respect later on!

Language can be pre adamic. It is a commandment of Allah to bow and not for worship. And angels glorify Allah after bowing not Adam.

@@mmss3199 God did not ask them to worship Adam, so fact of the matter is it is not anything that should be taken in the sense of worshipping Adam! ‘Obeisance’ would be the right translation of the word in that context ! God created certain animals, plants and living creatures for the service of humans - doesn’t mean humans are their god! Prophet Solomon built house of worship for humans making Jinns/Demons (.. earliest surviving mention of the later common tale that Solomon controlled demons and made them his slaves. This tradition of Solomon's control over demons appears fully elaborated in the early Gnostic work called the "Testament of Solomon" with its elaborate and grotesque demonology) or taking the service of Jinns/Demons to build the structure - doesn’t mean Jinns/Demons are to worship humans but maybe Jinns/Demons are used for the service of humans by God, like angels are used for certain tasks! Please don’t derive from the scriptures that which is not explicit when something is explicit and goes contrary to your derivation is what I would like to say in this regard!

Summary(Important Notes) of The Stories of The Prophets- 21. The Story of Adam (Pt. 9): The Prostration of the Angels to Adam The Angels prostrating to Adam(AS) is explicitly mentioned 7 times in the Qur’an - 1. Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 34. 2. Surah Al-A’raf, Ayah 11. 3. Surah Al-Hijr, Ayah 30. 4. Surah Saad, Ayah 73. 5. Surah Al-Isra, Ayah 61. 6. Surah Al-Kahf, Ayah 50. 7. Surah Taha, Ayah 116. This concept is also mentioned in many authentic Prophetic Hadiths. Thus, this is one of the most common motifs of this story. It is found in the famous Hadith of شفاعة (Intercession) and in the Hadith of Musa(AS) where it is clear that Allah commanded Angels to bow down to Adam(AS). There have been very few people in our history who have sought to reinterpret this concept. They say that Allah commanded Angels to bow down to Him and Adam(AS) happened to be in the direction of the Qiblah. One group of them say that it is not appropriate that one creation bows down to another creation. Another says that Angels only honoured Adam(AS) verbally. This interpretation is challenged by Ibn Taimiyyah and others as it contradicts the explicit narration of the Qur’an for a number of reasons - وَإِذۡ قُلۡنَا لِلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسۡجُدُواْ لِأٓدَمَ….. And [mention] when We said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam”..... (Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 34) 1. The Laam in “لِاٰدَمَ” is with the meaning of “for/to” and hence it is clear that Adam(AS) was the intended object of this bowing down. 2. Adam(AS) was honoured by this Prostration. This is shown clearly by the words of Iblees in the Qur’an (Surah Al-Isra, Ayah 62). If Adam(AS) just happened to be in the way of the Qiblah, he(AS) wouldn’t have been said to be honoured. Is the Prostrating of the Angels Inappropriate? Prostration is an act of worship only when it is done with the intention of worshipping. This makes it clear that there was nothing wrong with Angels bowing down to Adam(AS). In fact, pre-Shariah, bowing down to a person without the intention of worshipping was completely permissible. This is seen in the story of Yusuf(AS) when the brothers prostrate to Yusuf(AS). Even after our Shariah, bowing down to someone without the intention of worshipping is Haram (impermissible), it is not Shirk (associating partners with Allah). Which Angels Prostrated? فَسَجَدَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمۡ أَجۡمَعُونَ So the angels prostrated all together- (Surah Hijr, Ayah 30) There has been an opinion that only the Heaven Angels or only the Earth Angels prostrated to Adam(AS). However, the majority opinion is that all Angels in existence prostrated to Adam(AS). This is backed up by the rare presence of double emphasis on “all of them” in the Qur’an. The phrasing also indicates that every single Angel prostrated at the exact same time. Al-Mubarrid, a famous Arabic Grammarian, said that “كُلُّهُمۡ” (all of them) indicates every single Angel in existence and “أَجۡمَعُونَ” (together) indicates that they all prostrated at the same time all together in unison. This view is also agreed upon by al-Zamakhshari, a famous Mufassir(Tafsir writer) of the Qur’an. What does “سَجَدَ” here mean? There has been a minority opinion that “سَجَدَ” here means praising Adam(AS) and not physically bowing down. However, there is no concrete evidence for this and so we can go with the obvious meaning of “سَجَدَ” - bow until the head touches the ground. This word has been used multiple times in the Qur’an with this exact same meaning. Further, in Surah Al-Hijr, Ayah 29, the word “فَقَعُو” which clearly means “fall down”. Finally, there is a Hadith in Sahih Muslim which proves this point further. Points to Remember: 1. There is unanimous consensus among all the scholars of Islam that the Sajdah of Angels was Sajdah of Tashreef (out of respect/to honour) and not a Sajdah of Ibadah (worship). 2. Iblees was arrogant and so he refused to prostrate. The Qur’an is explicit in this. There has been a mystical interpretation that Iblees refused because he wanted to perfect monotheism and only wanted to glorify and respect Allah. This is a complete distortion of reality. 3. By and large, this concept of Angels prostrating to Adam(AS) is only mentioned in the Qur’an. The standard mainstream books of Christian and Jewish literature have no such concept. However, a very rudimentary idea of this is mentioned in obscure Christian and Jewish literature which are not well-known and difficult to obtain(especially in Makkah 1400 years ago). This further solidifies our trust that the Qur’an is divinely inspired. What does this concept demonstrate? Allah wants to remind us of the high status He has conferred upon Adam(AS), and through him, upon all of us. The Angels, the former most honoured creation of Allah, were told to bow down in front of Adam(AS). No higher privilege could be even imagined. This incident indicates that the most righteous men are more honoured, in the eyes of Allah, than even the Angels. This shows the heights of potential in each one of us and we should become humbled and strive to attain this potential. Since Adam(AS) was just created and he(AS) did not have many good deeds as such yet, we can derive that mankind as a species is more honoured than Angels as a species. The default of mankind has this profound honour but, if a person fails to maintain this default, then this privilege will be withdrawn from that person. There is no explicit indication in the Qur’an and Sunnah that indicates whether mankind is honoured over all other creations in the whole history of time and in all dimensions that may exist. However, we can derive that mankind is honoured over all creations in our given world. The rest is from the knowledge of the unseen. This ends the summary. Anyone who thinks I have missed some point is welcome to reply but please give the time in the lecture when Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi talked about it so that I can be sure. JazakaAllah Khair

So, if we are going by this logic that Humans are better than angles because the angles were ordered to prostate to Adam. So we should also believe that the Kaaba is better than Humans because Allah ordered Mohammad(sa) to pray and prostate towards the Kaaba. Jibril also should better than all the creation because he was sent as messenger to all the prophets and messengers. So, this is all nonsense and we shouldn't say prophet(sa) is better than jibril and vice versa. Loving the prophet(sa) is a part of the religion but we shouldn't go to extremism and we should stick to the wording found in Quran and Sunnah.
