He died the same way he was « born » he killed as a angry revengeful kid striking someone in the back, and died by the hand of a revengeful kid being attacked in the back. Everything is going full circle, maybe the kid will be the next Genjuro :)

I find it super interesting that he managed to gain the uperhand on his last fight with Haohmaru. Could that mean he's a bit stronger than Haohmaru? I hope so, it makes for a more interesting character and story this way. And even more tragic. Maybe they'll retcon it and make Genjuro survive the stab, also that could potentially be a plot device for his growth as a man and send him on his redemption path.

Genjuro is one of my favorite SamSho characters...dude is bad ass. Didn't know he had a pet frog. That explains that ending in SamSho 2 with the little frog on the ground.

Haohmaru's ending in Warriors' Rage mentions Genjuro and how his rivalry with Haohmaru is still going on even after 20 years. I'd say it's safe to say his death in 64-II was retconned, but it remains very poetic nonetheless.

Very interesting review of Genjuro's story. It seems there's a reason why he was such a vicious bloodthirsty murderer. But on the other hand, he was a worthy addition to Samurai Showdown since his debut in the second game. And he has my praise for his viciousness. But his tragic story adds layers to him. And while he met his end at the hands of an inexperienced boy, Genjuro continues to make regular appearances in other series. And his name lives on.

I yet again fall upon a painfully underrated channel.

If you do an episode of SS: Bushido Tales on Galford it's important to bring up the dog traveling with him in SS2019, SS1, SS3, SS4, SS2, and onwards is not the original Poppy but instead one of the husky/wolf mix pups given birth by the original Poppy who gave her life to save Galford during the final moments of SSV which is canonically/time-line wise the first chapter in the saga and after returning to the village where he was trained Galford discovered that his faithful husky partner Poppy have given birth to husky/wolf mix-breed pups due to the fact the dog that sired Poppy's litter was none other then Hanzo's pet wolf. Galford would go on to adopt one of the female pups out of the litter and name her Poppy as his way to honor to her mother the loyal husky who gave her life to save his. And SNK released the official timeline and that time line is SSV, SS2019, SS1, SS3, SS4, SS2, SS64, and SS64:2 with SS6 being declared non-canon and the validity of SS: Sen, SS: WR, and SS: WR2 as being canon is up in the air due to SS: Sen sucking and failing on a major scale. So SS2019 is consider a pseudo-reboot being a reboot in terms of going back to what made the first two games fun while adding some new features, but actually not retconning, along with not erasing the entirety of the lore keeping it for the most part intact with SS2019's position in the timeline being after Gaoh's defeat aka post SSV, but before Amakusa's return using the body of Hanzo's son aka pre SS1.

Can't say I'm a fan of him, but he is a character that fans love to hate or like him for his personality and gameplay. Sorta like the Joker of the SNK universe, meant to be hated but they're beloved by fans.

Why no mention of Genjuro's bisexuality? His ending in SS Sen should also be mentioned, it is my personal favorite.

I thought the real story is that Genjuro’s mother was yelling for help because one of the clients was abusing her so Genju took the man’s sword and killed him but his mom got mad and slashed Genju on the back making him angry he kills her too. Also a reason why Genju hates Haohmaru is because of the man that was his mom’s client looked like him.

Wait what?! I never knew Genjuro died at the end of Samurai 64. What a way to go. The scar on his back that never heals kinda reminds me of Kenshin and when he first got his scar on his cheek. Are you planning on making Bushido Tales series about Samurai 64 and warriors rage? I never had the chance to play those games, so I have no idea what the story in those series is about.

Also some of his moves are named like a card japanese game, ino shika cho is for example a play in Koi koi if im not mistaken, like he his screaming "japanese poker" moves when he hits.

The story about Genjuro’s childhood and what happened with his mother and her lover sounds a lot like the movie “Sling Blade.” Could just be a coincide. Sling Blade came out in 1996, while Samurai Showdown II was released in 1994. I wonder if Genjuro likes French fried pataters.

My favorite character next to Basara.

His story is really good one of the best SNK has done. Although I feel like the events of Samsho (2019) and Samsho 3 were skipped. Which recalling his end in the last game, he was also attacked by another youth trying to avenge their family who fell victim to Genjuro, with that he walks through the streets bleeding half to death which considering the (confusing) chronology of the series, makes it thr reason he was absent during the events of the first game. As for retconning his death, I don't think that's wise.
