Most of the photo credits in this video go to Shane, Jimmy, and Kyleigh, and some are from our family's old albums.
It's only fitting that I start 2023 off on a good note and give credit where credit is due. This video is dedicated to the memory of my late grandfather who was (and continues to be) my hero, and also to Shane, the collector and restorer (and now a friend of mine) who saved this tractor from an uncertain fate. This is the story of a very special John Deere 520 high-clearance vegetable tractor that my grandfather farmed with, was eventually sold and parted out, neared death at the scrapyard, and then was saved and resurrected into a true work of art. I am so thankful and excited to be able to have this tractor back in the family once again, and to be the caretaker of it as a staple in my personal collection where it will live alongside its former coworkers - the JD 60 and Ford 4000 - once again. It serves as a symbol of my grandfather's legacy, and his influence on the vegetable farming community of southern New Jersey in the 1960's and 70's. I could type out the full story here in the description, but it would defeat the purpose of the video - in my opinion you can't give it justice without seeing the pictures of the restoration process and the documentation I have to go with it. Hope you enjoy - and here's to a great new year!
