I always had to have a secret code word for my mom while texting, emailing, even once when I knocked on her door and she didn’t recognize my voice. If she ever questioned if it was me contacting her, she’d say “Code word?” And I’d say it. I never ever told anyone what the word was. I’d suggest this for everyone 🥺 Most likely you’ll never need it, but it’s there for you to have a peace of mind

The lake happened to be the password to one of their business accounts, so my guess is that's how he knew. But I don't know how he would know the type of boat. In the 20/20 episodes, they dedicated a great deal of time talking about how Chris loved water sports so my other guess would be, the boat he used in his childhood came up in conversation with Ed Shin.
@JJoy-bk8yr
@JJoy-bk8yr 2 жыл бұрын
Shin could find the lake from looking up the addresses on emergency contacts. Chris's brother worked for Shin so Shin could have conned him into giving the info about the boat - "I've been thinking of buying a boat. Do you know anything about them?" or similar

My mother actually worked with Ed Shin leading up to his capture. Ed and Chris’s company had made some sort of deal with her place of employment at the time. I believe they met with Chris one time initially before he “started traveling”. The head boss that had agreed to the partnership was getting really impatient and wondering when the hell Chris was going to come back to continue on the work that was promised. Ed kept up the whole story at work too. My mom said Shin was very stoic and off putting. He didn’t say much, but he was stuck up and bougie, and also just kind of a fucking weirdo. Obviously things didn’t kick off until he was caught, but apparently he was actually caught when her old company was trying to expand from the US to Canada. According to her it was her boss and Shin trying to fly into Canada when they were both detained (boss had nothing to do with it, but the cops thought shin was trying to pull a legger). Edit: I guess they detained him on some other charges, but once the boss found out about the murder everyone was terrified that they’d been working with this murderer for so long with zero clue.

I mean, that's sad. But I think it might be a lil harder for the parents, then the gf. Especially since, he "broke up" w/her & maintained contact w/parents. By the time the gf found out he was dead, she would have probably gotten over the break up for the most part. While finding out he died tragically would be horrible & shocking, she would have a bit of distance from it emotionally & might even give her a tiny bit of.. validation? Idk if that's the right word, but I mean she could feel like he *did* love her, hadn't tossed her aside w/o a second thought, didnt dump her over txt. The parents had been deceived into believing he was alive & thought on some level they were still in communication with him

I know serial killers tend to hold on to that kind of info but it seems somewhat pointless for Dick-Ed to not just tell them. Do you think maybe he tried to bargain with it? I’ve known families who have agreed to lesser sentences in order to get a loved one back. I watch Mike more than any other channel on KZfaq; the way he lays out the story is what keeps me coming back for more and I hope he continues for years. Mike has actually covered multiple stories I’ve seen on other programs in the past and he has highlighted evidence and specific items that were not even brought in the other programs and this is another reason that I love watching That Chapter. Keep up the great work Mike, for “Tree” hundred more years lol.
