When they train military, they train them to never make a threat they won’t go through on. @@thedoncjg6263 they also didn't explore really anything different outside of what happened in the original. It actually really does follow almost the exact timeline of the original. One of the strangers knocks on the door and starts the confusion, man leaves the house leaving the girl alone, strangers come back and terrorize the girl they then do the exact fakeout where footsteps approach her but its just the bf again, they both then go out to a shed, and get separated and both get captured separately and we know what happens from there. It really is the exact same movie and worse one in my opinion. (Side note I loved Madelaine Petsch's acting despite the boring writing)

Because strangers 2008 at the Time it's doing what other movie didn't... Like it's very grounded... No magical ghost bs or idiot villain... It's just felt so real... Like when they just stare at u from the blind spot on your window or the dark corner of your room... They destroying your phone and put it there to show they're there... And that fucking closet scene...

They did. It’s because they can. That’s what the “horror” is to their character, there’s no explanation for their evil actions, no reasoning or justification to allow you to somewhat humanise them, they are just pure evil

Like they could have easily did what Orphan did and made them been the first couple killed or even did why they started to kill. Make bag-head be a survivor of a home invasion { everyone in his family died} so he goes to a group therapy and thats when he meets the other two and thats when it starts

yes. The original movie was based on a childhood experience of a series of break in where the robbers i think would check if anyone was home by asking for a random person. if no one answered they would break into the empty house. The killers are the inverse

I went into the theater thinking this was supposed to be a prequel. I was pretty bummed when i realized it was basically a shot for shot remake of the original with a longer intro. Hopefully the next ones will be better but now that i know they shot all 3 movies within a couple months I wouldn't bet on it. Seems rushed.

Same same same! Just left the theater ,I thought the acting was good but the dialogue was cringey and lazy. I remember when they first used an iPhone or something in the movie I was like …oh….its not a prequel. Madeline was so good I’d love to see her as a final girl in something else but this movie was not great. I’ll still see the sequels cause I’m invested at this point. 😂

What makes the strangers scary is also what makes any sequels automatically fail: you can’t tell the audience any background of the strangers so there’s no reason to check out any of the sequels cause the narrative is never pushed forward.

Oof… mistakes were made. My daughter and I went to see it and we laughed the majority of it. The original was good because of Liv Tyler. Her face in a constant state of fear is what makes it horrifying and so good.

Just went and seen this last night with my fiancé and some friends, I have not previously seen the other films and did not have knowledge of previous installments until this video. The survival instincts of the couple is absolutely dreadful, just making all of the opposite choices of what I would do. But, the ambience and feel of the movie itself though was very good to me. I think the “strangers” are what carried this movie. Maybe a 6-6.5/10 in my opinion. Final note: why the heck did Ryan not hop out of his car when he got his leg free and just hop in the ford pick up??? It was the bet option being that it was still on and was a viable running vehicle, and he decided to walk through the foggy woods leaving all sides vulnerable… other than that, decent movie!

I enjoyed the film. I never saw the original. But it had some scary moments and good scares. We also got to know the characters. The killers liked the game and the chase. It made some sense.
