So many times I've heard you warn an upcoming movie was probably going to be disappointing. So many times I shook my fist at the screen and shouted, "But Drinker you, cynical yet erudite thinker, you can't know that just from the trailer! Wait for the movie to come out! Give it a chance!" So many times the movie came out, I put my head in my hands and said, "Darn it, Drinker, you were right. . . again." But this time I enjoyed this movie. Finally, after so many times, I think the drinker may have been mistaken.

Idris Elba can’t do comedy? Guess that wasn’t him in the Office in one of their best storylines.

I love how people use Harley Quinn as this woman power sort of character when she the ultimate abused housewife.

It looks like James Gunn trying to rip off James Gunn, but with more characters that have far less character.

I'm interested in seeing the Critical Drinker's take on film. Saw the movie yesterday. None of the main charactes are race or gender swapped. This movie has natural diversity. [edit - accidentally hit enter] This is the funnest comic book movie I've seen in years. This is a quote from someone else's post, "Un-woke it ... and they will come."

U guys will prolly have different opinions, but I really enjoyed this movie. It had interesting, fleshed out characters, decent comedy, and some genuinely great action scenes.

That blind faith comes from the fact that the vast majority of active Hollywood directors are so trash these days that an OK director looks like a god damn Rockstar.

It's too bad that Katana won't be in this movie for 15 seconds again.

People should know by now not to judge a movie based on its trailer. Drinker brought his whine to the party too early. This movie was great and has universally been praised.

Sometimes, Drinker just likes sucking the fun out of everything... even from media he hasn't even seen yet. A bit prejudiced/pessimistic way to "review" things.

Can we just point out that if WB actually put thought effort and time into their cinematic universe from the beginning...they would fucking have one by now. But now we're 8 years since man of steel and WB is still just flinging their shit trying to get something to stick

I literally didn't even know this was a thing until yesterday.

I'm already looking forward to the Snyder Cut version of this film, where it will be 6 hours long and in that one you really can't see John Cena.

I think the thing that annoys me about the 2021 Suicide Squad movie is that they don't even help distinct the title of the film from the 2016 film. Warner Bros just decided to add a "The" to the title.

You know the DC Universe has jumped the shark the moment an actual King Shark makes an appearance on screen.

Drinker I'm a big fan but this one aged horribly I'm afraid.

Critical, you predictions were wrong. This film was one of the best this year and nobody can talk down on Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn anymore.

It looks like Gunn has basically made a big budget Lloyd Kaufmann film. Sergeant Kabukiman would fit right in with this team.

I miss movies that can stand on their own without 50 sequels and a contrived spin off series.

It kind of blows my mind that people watched this movie and got confused about continuity even though there are zero references to any other DC films. It's just a standalone movie, don't worry about 2016 suicide squad it doesn't matter anymore. That's why they share a title.

Think this actaully turned out good! A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

Is Suicide Squad supposed to be this goofy? I feel like it'd be better if they played it more straight and put in subtle dark humor, rather than making it Guardians of the Galaxy.

Honest to goodness, I thought the drinker had a few friends dress up after a rowdy night of drinking to take the thumbnail picture. I can't believe that's what the actual costumes are.

Wrestlers turned actors actually have success stories, The Rock is one of the most paid actors, if not the most. Batista career has been a success aswell. And we can't forget about Roddy Piper in the classic They Live!

The big problem I see with WB's handling of Suicide Squad, is that they're trying to copy the dynamics between the Guardians of the Galaxy, but keep forgetting that that's exactly what Suicide Squad wasn't supposed to be. It was partially a means to get villains with strong personalities to work together, but not get along. In the comics (and even the animated movies), the fact that each member is ultimately disposable and easily replaced, creates a sense of tension. The only goal for the ones stuck in the Squad, is to stay alive until Waller had enough fun, or they find a way to get rid of the bombs. But much of the entertainment is centered around seeing the Suicide Squad deal with each others' abrasiveness and the issue that some of them openly despise each other, plus they all become the laughingstock of the criminal underworld. But at the end of the day, they are only driven by their desire to get back at Waller, and it's also the only unifier between them, which isn't a whole lot. So ,the movies trying to sell this dumbass sense of camaraderie between them just feels wrong on way too many levels, especially with Captain Boomerang among them - y'know, the insanely racist and constantly cursing aussie? Hard to imagine that anyone would want to be friends with him, when he's always the asshole.

WB managed to do with Harley Quinn in 5 years that took DC Comics 30 years to do. Overuse and over promote her so much, people absolutely hate her.

It's like they threw Harley Quinn at a wall, watched it fall, said "Well, that's weird." Then picked her back up, decided what she needed was more screen time, threw her at the wall again, watched her slide down the wall slowly, and thought "Hey, it almost stuck that time!" Then decided that what they needed was to throw her at the wall using a catapult.

I hope you changed your opinion because it's one of the best DC Movies of all time and the dark humor is quite funny too

The most confusing part of this new movie is that it was somehow green lit after the disaster that was the first one.

i've got to say, the drinker missed the ball on this one imo. i thoroughly enjoyed this film, and i know thats subjective, but after seeing it, i think its just a decent movie.

I don't think judging a movie by its trailer is wise after this one. The new movie pretty much fixed every big problem from the first movie. Most importantly, exposition about the characters was cut to a minimum, and replaced with actual character development. It gives me hope that someone from HBO will remake the last few seasons of Game of Thrones, and remake them well.

Given that literally everyone who’s seen it is praising it and it’s currently sitting at a certified fresh 98 percent I feel like this was an early April fools attempt lol

Still can't get over the fact that CW's Flash has a better looking King Shark than a big-budget comic book movie.

Seeing King Shark in the trailer makes me wonder what a live action Street Sharks movie would be like.

I now just realised my main problem with this trailer - studio executives clearly told him “just do the same thing you did for Marvel“ - and he did. It really shows on the “that's suicide-our thing“ joke. It's just “you said it yourself, we're Guardians of the freaking Galaxy“ joke again.

God, they really overdid it with Harley Quinn’s character. She’s unbearably annoying at this point. Look, we get it. Margot Robbie is hot, but that’s no excuse to give her excruciatingly bad dialogue to deliver in her “Nuuyoork” accent. It gets old very quickly.

I find it funny he's making fun of the characters without knowing the characters origins in the comics and he's reviewing based on the trailer not the movie.

This didn't age well. Movie was quite good. But to be fair the drinker is usually right. And he was right about the trailer being far worse than the film.
