Saw this in the theater when I was a kid. It was the last movie showing at a local theater that was being closed down(same theater I saw “almost cult classics”, The Dream Team and Arachnophobia). So our family went to pay our last respects. I do think about this flick at least once a year and how it’s basically been lost to obscurity. I swear we must have had very similar childhoods.
@mesicek7
@mesicek7 2 жыл бұрын
If you were a kid of the 90s you'd have probably seen them all since they were usually on tv at least once a year. With time they get played less and less because new movies take priority. If an old movie wasn't successful it's gonna get less air time in the near future. Simple as that
@middleschoolgravy

@@mesicek7 I’m not sure what you’re getting at in response to my comment. Contextually it seems like maybe you meant to respond to somebody else? Anyway in case this is about me saying Joe & I having similar childhoods I only mean so many of the films covered on this channel are not remembered by my peers. Such as The Super, The Dream Team, Who’s Harry Crumb, even Summer Rental. They were all big hits with my family, but if I bring these up to the average person around my age, they’ve never heard of them(at least in my anecdotal experience).

Gone Fishin was just silly slapstick, for better or worse.. But you could tell Pesci and Glover were having fun... It's a lesser "Grumpy Old Men", but still a fun little comedy. Certainly not worthy of any great praise, but innocent enough to not earn any scorn either.

I'm thinking at some point, you should definitely tackle the 1993 film Josh and S.A.M., a movie that was terribly mis-marketed and yet still resonates in a major cult following plus the score by Thomas Newman is readily available for streaming on Spotify and is quite enjoyable, especially on long drives.

I was just thinking about this movie not to long ago. I just learned it’s based on some sort of true story, but the slumlord in real life just fixed up his apartment but not anybody else’s. 💌 Dearest Mr. Ramoni - i hear there is this FANTASTIC movie that reallllllly deserves an Almost Cult Classic treatment, it's called "A Box of Moonlight" starring John Turturro, Katherine Keener and Sam Rockwell. It's a truly hidden 💎 of the 90's. I would walk 10,000 miles for your epic touch in creating such an episode of your top notch series‼️ respectfully yours - dana💞

I remember this movie used to get a lot of play on TV for a good while during the 90s. At some point it fell out of network rotation and disappeared, though I don't know when that was. Too bad.

if you think about it, the plot has soooo much potential for a lot of comedic situations! a man, trapped in a run-down apartment.

Thd Public Eye is a great noir piece. Gone Fishing... I got a soft spot for that one.

I remember me and my cousin renting this when I went to hang out with him on Friday night because school was over for the week. We loved this movie, and your video made me remember it, too bad its largely unavailable.

From your description of the film, it feels like a weird remix on Scrooge. Not about the Christmas spirit, but the human spirit.
