I've always classed this genre as Funky Disco or Funky House. Whatever it comes under, it was great. 'Lolas theme', 'Lady' (here me tonight), 'Music sounds better with you', 'Sing it back', 'Movin' too fast', 'Don't call me baby' plus anything by Daft Punk. All top notch.

One of the greatest music videos ever made.

One of the few songs that gives me shivers as soon as the first few notes hit.

Can't believe I forgot about this, this was literally seared into my brain after seeing it as a very young child. Kept replaying it to see the story and understand it better even if I was maybe 2-4 years old I was so captivated by the ugly animation and the loneliness at the ending. They don't make videos like the French. 👏

I remember I was like 8 when this came out in 2001, the video always creeped me out I use to squint and cringe looking at those people. But the music was unforgettable. Loved it. Now I'm 21 I randomly sung it in my head at work and was like OMG! I need to find this tune! So glad to hear it again :)!
