The issue is the other side of the coin where people complain "Scottish players aren't good enough". However we've had players like Jake Hastie, Jordan Jones, Glenn Middleton, Greg Docherty, Ross McCrorie who have either flopped or not been given a chance - instead of the likes of Shankland, Ferguson, Hickey, Turnbull.

Totally agree. The last scottish player we brought in was Souttar. I don't know why we don't look at Scottish based players. It's frustrating bringing in players who aren't suited.

Hello everyone! As promised last week from the Sam lammers video we'd have a look at the home-grown talent in Scottish football to see who's been impressive this season! These are my thoughts on some of the brightest talents in the league what about yours? Is there enough talent in the top flight to improve our squad?

Danny Armstrong should be a Rangers player next season, Shankland too, he just knows where to be in the box, Boyd had that ability too, but Shankland has scored more than once against them.

Armstrong 100 percent fits the bill. A clear upgrade from weight in a position we desperately need. Lennon and McGowan would be fantastic players to develop and grow. All of these signings embody our transfer policy. Put miovski on top of that and sign sima perm and that’s a really good transfer window. Amount of players leaving must have the finance to make these happen

We're missing the grafters all good Rangers teams had in the past that allowed our star players to shine by buying them time and space on the ball.

I want every player you mentioned as the spine of the team then add some players from over seas and that would be some team. We need young fit lads with no history of injuries, too many players who are injured and useless so get some B team players in who are also basically useless if they can't step up when 16/17+also we would in my opinion we would be winning the league if Shankland was bought in Jan. Blair Spittal is a good signing by Hearts. There are some younger ones coming through like Rory Whittaker at Hibs and Dylan Smith at County as well as the Franczak brothers at St Johnstone as well as Hearts’ Denhlm and Tait. Then in the Championship theres Lewis Nielson, Kai Fotheringham and Dean McMaster. There are also some other ones coming through in the lower leagues and even some getting game time in the Premiership definitely enough quality for us to be looking at.

Can't argue with your analysis.Every great team that was successful in our league had a backbone of Scottish talent.We seem to get blinded by foreign names.Time we looked on the ground and not up in the sky.Our priority is to win the league not just develope a cash flow.We need proven players who have shown that they can hack it continuously in the SPL.

We'll sign the most injury prone one so Connor Barron it is then. Hopefully Clement's pre season sorts out the fitness issues.

Firstly, I enjoyed the video CJ, thank you. Any player under 30 (unless they are over 30 and a special talent that can give us 3 years) is worth looking at, so that said I'll look at those you highlighted; Firstly Shankland, his record speaks for itself and outshines ANYONE we currently have. Yes he's 28 but so what? He can still give us a good 5 years, maybe as many as 7. My only thing with him is that he is SLOW. I saw someone saying he runs like he had a cart attached to him lol. But what we need is something who INSTINCTIVELY knows where the goals are and with the chances we create it is hard to see past Shankland. Had he joined us in January the lad would probably have scored at least 20 for us by now and that might well have seen us sitting pretty at the top of the league. What I would ask of you CJ is, putting aside the Scottish angle, your thoughts on Miovski? I must admit that i too am a BIG fan of Watson. With Lundstrum undoubtedly off at the end of the season, this young lad fits the bill to slot right into the middle for us. So i say YES, let's go get him. Likewise for Armstrong. There will ALWAYS be the Jordan Jones's and Scott Wright's but you also have the Kris Boyd's and he whose name i won't mention but starts Nais.... So I think with his goal contributions he is definitely worth a try Re Miller, I LOVE your idea CJ of buying the lad then agreeing to loan him straight back to Motherwell for a full season. I think that would be a great grounding for him. A friend mentioned Barron to me, so I looked at him and was horrified to see how many times he's been injured. I'm sick to death of us signing players with horrendous injury records so no disrespect to him but he a definite NO from me. Not all our new signings need to be foreigners nor should they be. We need players who know Scottish football and can hit the ground running. Once we win the LEAGUE title, our bread and butter, then we can think of European football but right now, I want to dominate SCOTTISH football.

What we need CJ is 3-4 players at least who have blue blood in their veins. We have some good quality players but they don't have rangers in them. The last 2 that really did have retired we need to get some players in that are fans from boyhood and I hope that's what we can get. People who play with heart and leave everything on the pitch for the fans

We seen how we made an arse of the euro squad last season due to homegrown players. Surely this has got to be addressed over the next 2 windows, I appreciate we probably can't bring in 6/7 Scottish players in the summer but I would be looking for that number of new Scottish additions by the following summer, because we are likely done with mclaughlin, wright and Jack this summer so there's 3 down already.. Keep up the good work as always mate and got everything crossed for a BIG result next weekend but at the same time realise we need these players to all have thier game of the season simultaneously. we definitely need more Scottish players who will play consistanly well and can handle the physicallity of the SPL. There is always a risk bringing in a foreign players , many of them cannot handle the type of football, and forwards also have the problem of playing against packed defenses with not much space.

Totally agree spl players need considered, the players mentioned are at worse as good as the players starting making the squad better and helps registration so there isnt a repeat of no left backs registered

we should have been signing Shankland when he was at Ayr and we were up against him at the time. We need to invest in younger players that may make us money in the future, but we also need players to do the business NOW. Italian scouts seem to know the Scottish market better than our own scouts.

My list of talent that is Scottish I would have us buy this summer is: Shankland, Kai Fotheringham, Lennon Miller, David Watson, Connor Barron, Alex Cochrane, Danny Armstrong and I know he is English but Leighton Clarkson. For experience and I like his battling qualities at CB I would also sign Gogic. He could be a Marvin Andrews type signing and proven in the league. The one we should not sleep on is Kai Fortheringham. He can play either wing, has pace, has goals and assist in him. His form and skill onnthe wing has helped carry Dundee Utd to promotion. His market value is only around 250k. It could be a great buy. 21 years old. So he can develop further under Clement, challenge Mcausland and that is two between them for rotation and both can play either wing if needed. After watching the video: I have to admit I didn't know Barron was injury prone. That should be a big red flag for us. I have to agree. CJ I bow before your superior knowledge on that one mate.

FANTASTIC video CJ. Shows your no just a pretty face. We all agree that there are plenty great Scottish talent. Rangers ALWAYS used to pick up good players from Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock etc. and most of them not only knew how to win trophies, knew how to fight for the team every time they pulled on the Gersey but they kept some of our good foreign imports on the bench and didnt look out of place alongside the Gazza's and laudrups. so sick of mediocre imports for 2 million when there are better scottish players to be had for 1/2 million or less. cmon RaNGERS listen to CJ. lets find a Novo or a Naismith, or a Weir, and skelp Celtic like we used to.

I think Lennon Miller could even be too expensive for us. Barron seems to be edging closer to a move to Italy. Lyall Cameron seems an exciting player but not on the same level as the others but David Watson could be available for us at a good price and plays the game with such maturity we must go for him.

Credits for making this video CJ…this is an issue that needs to be addressed at Rangers. Far too many times we have rejected young Scottish talents because they are “not good enough”, and then they go on to reach great potential.

"Banging the drum" for Shankland, funny you said that. I have used that phrase before about Shankland. I have been banging the drum for him for 5 years. We could have got him for barely anything. But even now I see fans that don't rate him. Before the start of the season I heard other pundits say Rangers were "above" Shankland....and we signed Dessers, Lammers and Danilo.

Dessers has demonstrated hes a back up striker at a big club i wish that wasnt the case but it is , not just the countless glaring misses but his link up play aswell as other aspects are just not good enough , im hoping the gaffer is being the diplomat when talking about him as criticising your only striker during the season is not wise but surely he sees we need better , Danilo is still an unknown and we cant go into next season with just Dessers as a goal scorer , Shankland is a steal at 3M ish , and as low risk as we can get

Some very good nominations there, Craig, but I don't agree with what happened to JJ. Steven Gerrard hung Jordan "out to dry" after the Old Firm game where he was put up in the air 10 seconds after he came on to the pitch and so he tried to get a bit of revenge on the clown who hacked him, there was only a few minutes left in the game, but JJ ends up getting sent off and he injured himself too. Oh, how the jungle jims had a field day with that scenario, a Rangers-supporting, Northern Ireland international player being publicly slaughtered, they all joined in and they loved it, (your fans did something similar to big John McLaughlin too, due to a 5-minute spell in another Old Firm game). Anyway, some other players well worth a mention, in my opinion, mate: Matt Kennedy - Kilmarnock - He's just as good as Dan Armstrong. Alex Cochrane - Hearts - I'd put him up against your Ridvan any day of the week, they're very similar players. Frankie Kent - Hearts - The big man is class, the best compliment I can give him is that he's like a younger version of Leon Balogun. You're right about Lennon Miller too, he needs at least one more season with Motherwell to learn his trade and develop.

Agree with what you’re saying CJ, what I would add no matter what happens for the rest of the season serious questions have to asked as to why the board allowed Beale to waste the money he did why have we been left in a situation where we have players leaving for nothing again

whether folk want to admit it or not, us not having a Scottish core has had a pretty big impact on the squad. The constant shiting it against celtic would not be the case with players that grew up understanding how big both rangers and celtic are

Dont diasgree with any of these CJ. Totally agree with Barron, his injuries at this young age is a concern. Watson is the key target for me, closely followed by Armstrong. I think for the money, we cant afford to bring in Shanks given his age etc as well. One thing about Miller though, he signed a contract extension already with Well, hes there until the summer of 26, so could cost a fair penny this summer. Maybe hes one for the next summer window if still flourishing and not snapped up Elsewhere.

I really can’t disagree with any of the potential signings. I, like you think we should’ve signed Shankland in January and I’m just hoping it won’t come back to bite us in the arse. He really is a a Rangers number 9 in everything that we would want, his age isn’t a concern for me as I don’t think every player we sign needs to be signed with a view to selling for major money. Watson and Armstrong are two Killie players that I’d also like at the club, if it was between them and we could only sign one I’d probably rather Armstrong tbh but Watson’s always looked good. I’m 50/50 on whether I think Barron signs tbh, he was rumoured to have signed a pre contract back in December and he got a lot of backlash instantly and I think that if he did sign then he’d have to do another Ryan Jack situation where he gets hidden in a car travelling down to Glasgow and nothing is even talked about until he’s officially signed. I’ve also seen rumours that he’s actually signed a pre contract with an English team, I haven’t seen enough of him to actually say whether I think we should sign him or not. Lennon Miller, I think it would be good to sign him but like you I think it would be better to give it another half season to a year to see whether he’s going to have another great season or if he falls off and ends up looking like a big part player. Cameron and McCowan are another couple good players, but I don’t know if they could make the step up to Rangers.

The board and Ross Wilson/Michael Beale made an absolute mess of the signings. Bottom line is we could have got Shankland & Lewis Ferguson years ago for decent money. Both blue noses and would be the backbone of our dressing room going forward!

Offer remainder of banked money and Wright to Kilmarnock for Armstrong. Sell Raskin if we aren't going to play him cash in while we can still get some spondulicks invest in Miller and Watson . Be lucky if these 4 lads are earning 10k a week between them. The foreign duds wouldnae climb out the bed they've just shat on for that . Beale didnae rate Lewis Mayo and let him leave for free . We could do worse than getting a second opinion on him after another good season at Kilmarnock m8.
