She posted some tiktoks with her in the makeup she did in this specific video (the one with the tarte bronzer) and from up close it looked fine but in the far away ones with back camera it had such bad flashback and a grey cast. I’m sure she wipes off some of the foundation but it still becomes very cakey 😅😅
@lug358
@lug358 Жыл бұрын
I think she does, is this kind of makeup that looks "good" for pictures and in lighting, but looks too much in person. Many influencers do their makeup as for photoshoots because they are going to be on camera a lot. Also i think is easier to retouch for pics, maybe just little colour or shade correcting and ready to post.
@aimeeduff8000
@aimeeduff8000 Жыл бұрын
she absolutely fixes it off camera, that much foundation and everything else on top would be so cakey and disgusting looking especially in natural sunlight. She had so much on it was eating up that new Tarte liquid bronzer before she could even try to blend it lol! She’s not a real makeup artist and doesn’t even seem that good at makeup and its incredibly obvious every time I see her videos. She’s stuck doing that “whole bottle of foundation look” in every video now because that’s what she got “famous” for and she can’t venture out and do anything different now or she will lose her audience, and eventually people will get tired of seeing her do the same exact look in every single video and stop watching anyway. She honestly did herself a disservice by doing anything possible to go viral and now sadly that’s all she’s known for and will never be known for any actual talent she might have.

As someone who works in big advertising- the trip is most likely subsidized by the Dubai travel agencies and tourism board. Tarte was loosing recognition and now young people will start recognizing it in the stores and ads, it doesn’t directly link to sales but being surrounded by Tarte from huge outlets like these influencers it will most likely subconsciously push a sale through. There’s so many other things but figured I’d share as someone who has worked on makeup accounts :)

I think it’s important to remember that not every advertising campaign has the goal of making direct sales. Usually providing influencers with an experience like this, is more meant for brand awareness. These brands have ways of measuring all of the sentiment that is being expressed about them online, and whether that sentiment is positive negative or neutral. That’s what they might call a “top funnel” campaign, where the sales funnel is the series of brand touch points, that take someone from being unaware of the brand to making their first purchase. While some minority of users expressed distaste with this type of trip, more people are just learning the name tarte for the first time which is the first step towards having them choose your product when shopping for makeup- even if it’s months or a year from now, they needed to introduce themselves in someway that makes an impression in this kind of thing does the trick. the direct sales are most strongly linked to online advertising and email lists

I agree, this is all about buzz, product advertising, brand recognition. While a trip to Dubai is problematic for other reasons, assuming the invitees behaved themselves (regarding local traditions) I think that Tarte made a smart move. I would not be surprised to learn (I have zero info on this) that due to local culture, Tarte suggested or even encouraged the plus one be Mom or an Aunt or older sibling. As Morphe has found out pining your hopes on a few brick and mortar stores along with only 2 or 3 influencers can bite you in the make up bag. Perhaps due to the chatter online regarding this trip, someone shopping online or in-store, may not find their fav shade in their usual brand so Tarte may be purchased as a "oh I have heard of this brand" substitution.

Wonder if they are all declaring these trips on their taxes. Many of the governments are starting to go after influencers for not declaring gifts/PR as income. I know Australia has started publicizing and warning influencers that they must declare all of this on their taxes. Most influencers post all the free stuff they receive so it is fairly easy to see if people are reporting.

Sure there are some new people but I think the big problem now is the luxury of it all. The kids watching dote girls and other brand groups are now young adults or late teens. We are currently in a global recession. Sending a bunch of influencers out on over a million dollar trip to market to young adults who are most likely financially struggling in an atmosphere of a cost of living crisis just puts a bad taste in our mouth. The kids growing up watching these trips most likely were middle to upper class and had access to buying the things that the dote girls were trying to sell and if you were poor like me at least you could wish for it for Christmas or something. But these times are completely different.

@Jade B might have to do with the very real human rights violations and the fact that the UAE still has a long way to go in securing womens rights. You can be arrested for reporting your own rape to authorities, men have the right to beat their wives and children and women are "obligated" to have sex with their husband's. Not to mention honor killings are still prevalent and have loopholes for the men. But... yeah, doesnt effect you. Its frankly disgusting to see so many famous and rich women promoting Dubai and being paid to do so.

@Jade B you cannot pick up tone from a text and thats the problem with the internet. I could have written it a bit nicer maybe but its fucking frustrating, we as women should have solidarity with eachother throughout the world, its disgusting to see women taking a fat pay cheque to travel to a country and ham it up while the women in that country are currently being oppressed. We stand with the women of Iran but not Dubai?

The UAE Board of Tourism is pending billions on marketing themselves right now to re position Dubai as a destination instead of just a layover. It’s not a coincidence that all the celebrities are in Dubai right now, they’re being paid or incentivised to visit. Flights, accomm and experiences on this trip were most likely provided by the UAE, in partnership with Tarte, to reach an audience of younger travellers.

From a marketing stand point I don’t think there is a shot in hell tarte paid full price for plan tickets or hotel. This was a huge opportunity for the airline and hotel to get exposure. I’m sure there was a deal among the brands that made this way more affordable.

The thing with TikTok influencers, they make and post videos in real time and it’s quick short form content. Woah wait a minute. Was that the footage from their flight? Because those seats are not first class, their business class. I’ve flown with emirates for half of my life and those are only about 6 to 8 g versus 21 grand because emirates doesn’t even have enough first class seats available to house all 50 influencers, so I think they’re actually lying about that. I’m surprised no one caught onto that yet.

I worked as a freelance artist and event specialist for Tarte during peak beauty influencer years and, albeit not usually to this level of extravagance, Tarte has been collaborating like this with influencers on various product launches and campaigns for a very long time. Considering that post-p*ndemic we have seen a huge shift in what is trending throughout the beauty community -- we went from brand websites crashing 30 minutes after launching a new eyeshadow palette to people becoming very brand savvy, ethics driven, and ingredient-focused while going back to basics with their skincare and beauty routine -- I think it is smart for Tarte to show the beauty community that they can, and always have been, *both*. I think it's smart, business-wise, for them to get their name back in the radar of a beauty community that has slowed it's pace dramatically over the years. And to be fair, when I was a Tarte employee, they spoiled me too; this is just how this brand operates. It's working, isn't it? I have almost nothing but positive things to say about the brand and here I am sharing that with the internet. In addendum, for those thinking that Tarte just tosses money around haphazardly, they also give back so much both through many charity and awareness drives, but also through how they sustainably source their ingredients and what they give back to the community of people, the cooperatives, who help them harvest said ingredients. Tarte is not perfect, they've messed up in the past, I am sure mistakes will be made in the future, but the thing I really respect about the company is that they are always willing to learn and wanting to grow. I haven't worked for them since mid-2018, so not this is not a paid advertisement lol, just my opinion.
