Warning: this vlog touches on the topic of suicide.
In this "Maggie Moment", one of Australia's favourite parenting authors Maggie Dent discusses our vulnerable adolescents. Maggie discusses how we all have a tipping point in terms of our emotional self-regulation, but when we are teens we can be quicker to reach our tipping point because our emotional barometer can be more sensitive. Maggie discusses how we might be able to lessen that tipping point.
Maggie talks more about the teen tipping point here: www.maggiedent.com/blog/bewar...
And she discusses when to really worry here: • Moody Teen or a Real W...

What a tragic story with that ladies son...how horrible. As a parent of a teen boy who has moments, and a mum (me) who has moments...lol...how do we say no to that extra biscuit or put a rule in place without thinking that it could be a tipping point?? How do you set boundaries without the worry that a teenager may do self harm? Parenting is soooo hard sometimes. I enjoy your advice. Thankyou.

Not wanting to get to the ‘tipping point’ while living in a teenage induced hell- wilful damage to property, poor decision making, truancy, no respect, living in squalor- I can see no light at the end of the tunnel!

I’m so happy I found your channel! Your voice is calm and soothing to my fried nerves. I have been raising my four sons on my own for nearly six years since my husband passed away. I struggle to cope more than most moms because I have adult ADHD, which means I have very poor organization, time management, boundaries, discipline, filter for my mouth, and emotional regulation. Now that the oldest three are teens and tweens I am finding it even harder. I am very worried for two reasons:
