I saw Terminator when I was 12 years old and it blew my mind. I saw Terminator Genesis when I was 40 I blew chunks.

I love the original terminator movie it’s such a great sci fi horror movie in my opinion and really awesome and very intense in my opinion.

There's no doubt that "The Terminator" is a classic. Besides the interactions between Sarah and Kyle, I really love Ahnold's performance for and the buildup in the titular robot's identity. It certainly paid off in the climax when they switched to the animatronic/stop-motion effects.

Dark Horse Comic's Terminator run between T1 and T2, starting with "Tempest" is fantastic too.

1:50 debatable given the opening narration of the film makes it clear time travel is involved

I sadly didn't see T1 but perhaps I can change that later into December. It looks cooler than anything else I've seen recently.

How is it bad? Just wondering, because I've never seen the show and most people I talk to who have seen it told me it was good. Just curious as to what makes it bad, especially in a franchise where Salvation and Genesys exists. XD

I can't really comment unfortunately. Only saw one episode when it was on TV. All I remember is being annoyed that they changed how time travel worked.

I grew up watching an old VHS of Terminator 2, and I remember how awesome it was finally to see the first movie. It does get overshadowed by its sequal, but I'd still say it's still the second best of the series.

I had a similar experience; happened to catch T2 on TV with my mum one night, and I loved it, so that weekend we rented both of them from the video store. I think T1 was one of the first movies where I saw boobs. These first two are easily the best in the series. I remember being somewhat underwhelmed by T3 even when I saw it in the theater at age 12.

Man i seen T2 eight billion times! i should rewatch the first one tough, it's been a while. Very excited at Dark Fate! can't believe we finally got a new good Terminator movie! hope i can see it soon.

Great review! I always love seeing you tackle the first film in a large series, since it's usually been a long time since I've seen that film and you manage to give it a perspective that I either didn't know about or didn't notice. It's fantastic stuff! It makes me wonder if you're going to tackle all the Terminator films (and the Sarah Connor Chronicles show too) as well. That would be interesting to see and I'd love to see your perspective on the third film. I honestly enjoy that film and I find that it's underrated, despite being an inferior retread of the second film (Much like most Terminator films) Still, I'd like to see your perspective on it and what you thought of it. :)

Is it odd to say I prefer T1 to T2 and find myself watching the original far more than T2?

No way, it's not odd. The two films have very very different tones, and both are great in their own way. If T1 is more your speed, that's completely understandable.

@@BullSession Guess I could liken it to how I prefer Alien to Aliens, while both are on my yearly watch list they're different movies at heart. I do love the slow burn of movies like Alien, Event Horizon, Godzilla (1954) and many others. Love movies that take their time building tension and world.

@@TAWShani i hated aliens wasnt scary. I first watched it believing it was the first one, then i saw the first one and then i understood why alien was so esteemed
