RUMINATIONS: Climate of Fear is still pretty bad, but I appreciate a lot of the stuff it was TRYING to do, at the very least. It wasn’t successful, mind you, but I like that it seemed to advance Macready’s character a bit, change up the location, and bring back the strongest part of the Carpenter Classic. It’s just a pity that it’s still riddled with plot holes, poor narrative choices, and artwork that fails in a lot of places.
Like I’ve said before, there just really wasn’t enough story in “Ghost of the Machine” to justify stretching it out past Halloween. The storyline already had horror themes to it, so I figured having a Halloween ending made sense, anyway, and by this point I had decided I was going to be doing the King of Worms arc next, which was also horror-themed, so it all worked out for a bit, going two years without the double-sized finale like I had done for the last several storylines.

Actual translations: Careful, you don't want to hit him. Golpiarlo is misspelled, yes, but in Argentina, we pronounce it 'Golpiar' instead of 'Golpear' for some reason that I am not entirely certain about, and it's likely that it's written that way to represent our particular accent when speaking Spanish. I know what I'm doing. Damn, seems he's frozen (this is heavily misspelled to the point I'm fairly sure the writer does not know Spanish, it should be "Maldita sea, parece estar congelado") Appears to be stunned (bobo can mean silly, yes, but it can also be used in the same way you would say "he's been slapped silly" or something along those lines). Romendarte is likely mispelt 'Remendarte', where 'Remendar' is 'to repair'.

Things are shitty, but then again, that's Argentina for you. Things are always shit here. But if you really wanna know, yeah, there's an economic crisis going on right now and the government has made it a point in their agenda, a vital one at that, to destroy any 'delusion' the middle class had about being able to afford luxuries. Or, in other words, they're trying to dispel the illusion of there being a middle class at all. So in Argentina, right now, you're either rich or you're facing serious economic trouble.

The transition from horror to action isn't always a bad thing, Alien to Aliens and Evil Dead to Army of Darkness are great examples. However when your working with The Thing who's capable of assimilating any known living creature and can pretty much disguise itself under our own skin I would imagine The Thing isn't those kind of things that can make the transition. Maybe for a post-apocalyptic kind of setting like that one Romero movie, but even then once something like that reach to civilization or somewhere close to one it already wins, Zombies and Xenomorphs aren't quite as potent compare to The Thing. I guess what I'm trying to say is that doing something like this must be really difficult.

The fact that Agapito (sp) has doubts about striking wormy actually makes me like him EVEN MORE. Yes, as Linkara pointed out, he did the right thing...but you should still have that kind of self reflection and self doubt after getting someone killed (even if they're an asshole.)

IV Carts are very, very easy to swing around as a weapon. Take it from someone who was bleeding out in a hospital at 15 and trying to escape because I was delirious who picked one up like it was nothing. Those things aren't even heavy at all. If a 15 year old girl can do it, so can you!

I put " romendarte" in Google and most results were talking about this review. However, I found a comment that said it's supposed to be " remendarte", which means to mend, or patch up

Climate of Fear actually wasn't that bad for a comic. It offered a new setting for the Thing while keeping true to its methods. The original movie's monster is so contagious that crafting a logical sequel would prove challenging for anyone. Obviously being set in a jungle meant that the Thing could easily infect bugs, but perhaps animals can sense it was an invader just like the dogs could? Also you need to keep MacReady alive for future readers.

Looking back at these old episodes after watching up to present day there were a lot of hints that the entity was possessing Linkara before this. IF that's not just Vyce talking out of her voicebox and even if it is the comments Nimue keeps making towards Linkara are huge hints. That's assuming that Lewis had this all planned and didn't just perform come DCAU tier canon welding later on

The sad thing is that this probably was the best of the comics, either that or Questionable Research. And it had a lot of neat ideas (particularly the liquid-face thing, taking a smaller and more evasive form does seem like an adaption it'd make) and there are a couple of things worth pondering (or instance, who exactly got attacked by the seal -thing? Wormy seemed like the obvious candidate given how smrt he is and it's implied Cruz got infected while burying him... but then wormy is, well, wormy while Cruz seemed to be a bit of a bleeding heart so it could have been the Cruz was the thing first and then possibly infected wormy during the sheep incident or while burying him. Problem is it's bogged down by some real idiocy (why oh why did Dr Viale have to live? She was seriously too dumb) and a lot of wasted potential (the Childs-thing. Especially since it never seems to address what happened to all those people he was supposedly left with that were more than likely also things) Ah well, least we got Agapito out of this comic.

Quick question as someone watching this years later: what the hell is a jungle doing in Tierra del Fuego? Tierra del Fuego has only sparse, stunted vegetation- did they just think the entire South American continent was jungle?

Cuiado means Caution literally, but can be used to mean "careful". Golpiar means "to hit" so basically they didn't want to hit him (or hit it but I seriously doubt they would have saved him if they thought he was the Thing"). As it takes a lot more time and syllables to use the present progressive in spanish, the phrase was "I know what I'm doing." Incidentally Google translate is a lot better nowadays at translating a phrase as it's actually used as opposed ot it's literal translation. For example "no me importa" literally means "It's not important to me" but in reality it is used 99% of the time to mean "I don't care". Just felt like doing that.

Actually, I can think of one logical reason to stay behind and not escape so fast. Since it has prior knowledge of everything, a potential reason could be this: ending MacReady. He’s battled it first hand on multiple accounts and knows how to take it out and get around it’s mindfuckery, i.e., blood tests from a fresh source like an open wound. Sure he probably doesn’t know EVERYTHING about the creature, but he does know a few main aspects and a weakness, the 3 ways it can assimilate and its weakness to fire. If I were a monstrosity hellbent on the destruction of earth the first thing I’d want to do is get rid of someone or anyone who knows vital information about me.

oh, well... not really >w< We've had a looot of economic problems in the last decade (thanks to a crazy government full of thieves). But now with the government change, and the new president, things are starting to look good :33 there's still a lot to fix, but at least now there's hope (even if the ones who supported the previous presidents dont agree, but that's because now they don't get things for free XD) Thanks for the concern! and sorry about my reply before, i was just really confused about the question ^^u

6:11- Thankfully, Goggle Translator got an upgrade since this episode was first posted. Now, the dialogue reads the following: "Watch out. Do not want to beat him." "I know what I'm doing." "Damn! It seems frozen." "He looks like a fool." 6:51- "Talvez pueda romendarte" is translated as "Maybe I can break you." In other words, you should have shown that certain clip from Rocky IV. 8:41- Writers, MacReady is NOT Captain America!

welp, romendarte is not a word, the closest i cant think of is remendarte but its rarely used for living things, and its weird because the whole thing is written with the argentinian accent(including some misspronunciations, thats why the "spelling errors") but remendar its a verb that is rarely used by argentinians or anybody from south america for that matter.

You've probably already found out what 'romendarte' was supposed to mean after all these years, but in case you haven't: 'romendarte' is a misspelling of 'remendarte', which is a bad, overly-technical translation of 'patch you up'. The guy is telling the seal he's gonna heal it. It would be more accurate if he had said 'Quizás te puedo curar'.

Linkara, please look at the KOTOR (knights of the old republic) comics, it's a 9-book masterpiece. We don't talk about the tenth book. Most Outlands or other stores that sell star wars comics should have the epic collection that innvolves the first 19 issues. Second epic collection with 20-38 will be out in March.

Wasn't there a Viking the Thing comic? As much as the thing comics are stupid and silly now, from the few screenshots I've seen over google images (before anyone asks that is all that I have seen about them) the Viking one seems somewhat decent with nice artwork
