im 32 hours in and im still in 3 star low rank. Im just exploring the maps and crafting all kinds of armors and weapons. Im just soaking in the experience and loving every minute of it. Literally every night since Monster Hunter Rise I look up at the clock to see its 2am and I say some form of "OH CRAP" and go to bed for 4 hours before work. And then do it all over again.

Sleep deprived sums up how much I've been enjoying rise.

Honestly what's impressed me so far in Rise is that all of the new monsters I've fought so far have been absolutely incredible. Like, Bishatan bleeds character, Magnamalo is frenetic and intense, Goss Harag is a terrifying titan. I love all of them, and can't wait to fight the rest.

The English cut scenes are actually really cool for me. Like dark foreboding poetry. It's hype. And I generally skip cut scenes

We made it, and boy was the wait worthwhile!

You can tell that our 2 dads are happy and excited because of they don't know whos turn it is to talk😅 (very understandable)

As a newcomer to the series, I really appreciate the village quests in terms of difficulty and format. I'm planning to work through all of the village before moving into the hub, but I'm looking forward to the jump in difficulty. After binging on the game every day since release, I'm starting to go back and watch people's content to learn a bit more about the game.

I'm 40 hours in and I'm just starting high rank I've been going back helping friends with lower rank stuff and just crafting different weapons to mess around with. I'm taking my time with this game I'm going to enjoy it for as long as I can

Day 5: I have defeated Magnamalo but still no sign of high rank.

The other thing is don't use the A to call your dog. That only works if hes close to you. Use the shortcut on your radio menu, Or on the other action bar! This actually whistles to your dog To come to you!

The monster intro's are sick in english. Love the rhymes but calling arzuros bloodlust incarnate was a bit over the top but still funny.

people say the story took a back seat just as every monster hunter game but i kinda dont feel the same since i took time reading the dialogue it actually made me care about the characters more and each one have their own conflicts and goals

If you're in Australia, the amiibos are only available via the Nintendo Online store. There's like very few places that are letting Aussie players know this. Also Palamute figures are limited to 2 per player so they're very aware they have limited stock. Loving the game so far, my daughter and myself are spending alot of time in the expeditions...there's like little swords dotted around the map which we're trying to find as it gives a little story set in the location and it encourages you to poke in every nook and crany of the map...and it's bloody amazing😆

I actually really liked the monster intros in English. I've also listened to them in Japanese and I like both of them because they're different but still retain a sort of poetic intro to the monsters

The English cutscenes do not have a singing tone to them, they have a dark and foreboding tone. I recommend that if you play in one of the other languages, go to the gallery and play one cutscene in English.

In the next MH game, they should hire David Attenborough to narrate an introduction to each monster as an intro. Or Morgan Freeman. Or Snoop Dogg (high ofc)

Oh so I'm not the only one suffering with Mizu claw farming. About hunt times, if you just go to kill the monster and not grab anything it's fast, but it doesn't make me feel like I'm using the most out of the game, I dont get much out of the way for spiritbirds, but I really loved using most endemic life during hunts, they're not necessary, but really useful

FOR ZENNIES wear gathering 3, start looking from HR>LR>village for tours in cavern, check what has Upsurge in mining ores start the tour, rush up the hill and start a counterclockwise route mining all blue mining nodes (if you eat harvester dango is endless, if not you will have to wait 20 sec if you do it fast). Do first 2 mines, jump down the cliff, continue counterclockwise, get wind to get up repeat untill you get the notification "MAP info update" that means no more upsurge Leave, sell everything you got, profit. In hr you can do 200k+ zenny in 20 minutes

Man... those HUB Rampages as a solo or duo are actually nightmare-fuel.. Had to open up our lobby and do it with 4 people and it was a cake walk..

in the case of the ecology vids MHR does. the monster hunter language and japanese both sound as if the person was reading poetry but singing as well? while in the english version, the person is talking as if he was 3rd person but also reading poetry? Like the Act of romeo and juliet? where sometimes a man or a woman comes in and recites a paper in rhymes or in poetry to the audience as to tell or show what's to come. usually (at least the one i've been) in a vague and mysterious way.

SO glad you guys brought up the controller issues, I've been having SO many of my inputs not respond, I wasnt sure if it was a game issue or a controller issue and hearing I'm not alone definitely makes me feel a bit better!

The monster intros in English aren't sang like they are in Japanese they just say the lines menacingly. And for switch skill balance they are all balanced really well except for the greatsword silk bind hunting edge looks awsom but is just laughable in comparison to adamant charge. Adamant charge not only goes straight into tts but it gives the greatsword much needed mobility especially when combined with power sheath gs is just so fast paste now.

Regarding the controller, I have a 3rd party controller from 8bitdo and even there running has been difficult because the hunter sometimes doesn't run. I'm now starting to suspect it has something to do with the software with either the game itself or Switch firmware.

The game is so fun that I couldn’t even resist with buying cosmetics. I was like „oh I still have money on my switch... THERES A HINOA VOICE FOR MY CHARACTER?! GIMME!“

knowing how to maintain your zenny and not go broke is the true endgame

I really think the difficulty drop is only a good thing. Yes as a veteran hunter who is already more than familiar with the feel of the weapons it isn't going to pose any challenge, but even if it was a little harder it still wouldn't be that much harder for that said veteran hunter. Low rank quest are low rank quests and if you've been playing a long time you were gonna breeze through them anyway. All I see when they make village easy is a more accessible game for new people to get into and enjoy. It's like when they re release a kids cartoon two decade later and old people get pissed that's it's not the same as the show they remember. They didn't do it for you, they did it for the next generation. Be happy that new people will be picking up the torch and enjoy the harder stuff that you know comes later.

The one thing I miss from World is the player limit settings for quests. 4 Hunters plus buddies feels so crowded to me, I would usually limit my online quests to 2 or 3 players.

Being someone who is also really taking their time and smelling the roses (read: make every armor set that looks cool, enjoying gathering missions etc.) I am incredibly appreciative of the effort you guys put in not spoiling stuff. Also, what a fantastic game. it's the first monster hunter I am playing at launch and I don't think I could be having a better time with it than I am already having

Had a World-only friend being super surprised at how versatile and useful my cat (Gathering type with traps and heals) is. As much as I want GU-level complexity in cats, I think this is already overwhelming enough even for "veterans" so to speak. Pretty satisfied with how they made cats good again in Rise! Also, the default support move of Gathering is shooting out endemic life to cause all sorts of status ailments. HE IS NOT A PLUNDERBLADE CAT ANYMORE (it unlocked at lv 20).

My gf and I have played so much. She's gotten more into it than even me (her first game) Been so fun and the pets are so cute!

45 hrs into my 2nd character, thought I'd track down these classic pods I missed first time. My first Mon Hun and its been a roller coaster.

-i was actually spoiled for the final boss because it's wiki page showed up on my google feed on my phone -i think how the balanced the crafting materials is that the reduced double dipping on upgrades. i noticed many upgrades not sharing any materials. for example, "arzuros naginata 1" needs 3 different items from upgrade level 2, and that has different materials to level 3. -with yuna and the silkbind attacks, i noticed that gunners have to use the "r" button to use silkbind attacks. so, if she's using bow, it changes the button bind. i just wanted to add this in case that was the issue as it tripped me up as well

You can save the appearence of you palico and palamute i got 15 cats that look like my original pal Also a good way to passivly make money is collecting the cohoot nest in the buddyplaza every other hunt and you will often get silver eggs that sell for 10k each

Awesome no spoilers! Had to get my copy of Rise refunded because GameStop never shipped it and it got lost in their warehouse! Been avoiding stuff about Rise since it released so this is a breath of fresh air.

I'm 34 hours in and about to finish 4 star village and 2 star hub. I've just been taking my time building all available armour and long swords. It's been great. [Edit] Credits rolled 10 minutes after posting this, lol. Definitely agree that village is easier this time around, but I've been having fun learning the fights, farming materials and building the armour and weapons in the village and taking them online.

fun fact buttons not responding on rise is due to fps loss most of the time therefore making it skip button inputs there are youtube videos on it by tech guys:} hopefully this helps

I love the Sandy Plains map. I went down to that one area with the cliff ruins and I was like "*gasp* so THAT'S how we got here in Tri!" it was such a fun thing to explore. Diablos fights flooded back into my memory.

Hearing the English version of those cutscenes. It sounds as good in a different way than the Japanese version

to me the shrine ruins feels so small because there is a giant mountain in the middle that you rarely fight at. The flooded forest feels small as well for the giant temple.

I actually really like the English ecology intros. If you haven't seen them, watch them. I am not hugely into the traditional Japanese aesthetic though, so it may be just me.

I've been playing almost all hunting horn through my low rank journey and loving it. Made a few nice insect glaives because I can't stay away from my true love 😍🦋. But really into HH in Rise, especially since seeing Arekkz video showing that there's the i-frame dodge with recital performance. I'm not the best by far at fancy dodging, but pulling it off in the training room makes me feel motivated to try it in real hunts 💪🏻🎷

When you mention "rushing" through the game, I started a second save file specifically to rush through village quests and do the "Special License" tests (which you will completely miss if you do Gathering Hub quests first). My main save file, on the other hand, was not rushed, ever. As for the intro cutscenes, I'm an outlier but I personally like the English intros. I have _seen_ the intros (by other players) in Japanese and agree that it's _so_ culturally Japanese that I literally _can not_ appreciate it in that form. Even in the context of musical poetry (or whatever you want to call it) -- maybe it's the specific timbre of the actor involved, or the monotone pitch used, but ... I just can't. I agree that it simply could not be translated outside of native Japanese, and I enjoy (on its own terms) what they chose for the English intros. It's not music, it's not poetry, but it still shows traces of rhyme and meter. I also like the new Key Quest system overall -- on one hand, being told _exactly_ how many quests I need to do feels like information overkill, but on the other, knowing that I love the flexibility of knowing that I can skip 1 or 2 key quests and still make progress (I still have not hunted a high-rank Barroth or Diablos). Another useful improvement I've seen (not encountered myself) is that in multiplayer questing, you don't have to repeat urgent quests per player -- quests count as complete for everyone who has already unlocked it (you can still join quests you haven't unlocked yet, but the game will warn you it won't count as complete). And yes, there are certainly some Switch Skills that once you switch to them, you basically never switch back. For me, this one is "Guard Tackle" for Greatsword. Did you know it's possible to land at least THREE True Charged Slashes in one 30sec capture? I want to find a side-by-side comparison of Sandy Plains and Flooded Forest. Yes, on one hand it's easy to think "oh, it's just an updated version of an old map" but at the same time it is SO MUCH MORE. For example, when you leave camp and enter zone 1 you might ask yourself "has that canyon on the left always been there?" but if you boot up MH3U and go to zone 1 of its Sandy Plains, look off the southeast corner of zone 1 and ... yes, zone 1 is on a mountain ridge and it does have an empty abyss off its southeast side. And you know how there is a special victory animation that combines your hunter, Palico, and Palamute? There's also a special victory animation for having two Palicoes.

Village Quests have let me experiment and feel comfy with all the weapons that I am interested in. I also am 5th fleet baby and this is the first time I've been able to start fresh with some understanding of the mechanics and I feel like that contributes to this game feeling a little easier than world, even in HUB quests.

Only listen in the beginning, one of the best changes that they made is the rollback feature is available on the get go. You can tries a lot of weapon now without the need to hunt the same thing all over again.

I'm pretty sure you can save your palico/palamute appearance in the beginning unless i'm wrong

The thing with the endgame though, is that while World was barebones and "meh", 4 and Generations had waaaaaaaaay better and most robust endgames so I do think we have to also talk about them when criticizing Rise's endgame. I reaaaaally hope the April update brings something better (and pls not Rampage related) as an endgame activity.

My first real large monster was a hub quest and I didn't realize those were multiplayer, so I spent like a solid 20 minutes killing bird up with my un upgraded dbs. Good stuff.

I must say they really made it easier to get a set from a monster, after 3-4 hunts you got the entire set unless you are really unlucky, or you need like a plate or something. its def easier this time around (weapons i dont know, feels also easier) Oh, and Ruri, the english monster intro's are awesome even in english :D

Zenny!!! Yes! I'm always low on Zenny and I can't stand it! It's so different from past MH games, it's driving me nuts! It's a good problem to have though, I think.

One thing I have really enjoyed is the weapon recipe quests. It's cool to have little things to do in between hunts. Finding all the sub camps and doing all the kamura quests have been really fun. It's a cool idea that's only gotten better.

Missing out man. Wide Shelling is pretty technical and fun. Also, KO'ing with a Gun Lance is so satisfying lol.

17:30 I literally got 3 dogs, named them "Market Doggo 1", "Market Doggo 2", "Market Doggo 3", and put them in the subs, and there they shall remain xD, also got 4 cats, "Meowcenary 1" and so forth. They seem to level up just doing those tasks, albeit slower than the dojo, but all the same, will hit 35 eventually, meanwhile my named cats are all the types, training in the dojo, so i can swap out any time. Will eventually have to scout for certain skills and replace them as I go, but good enough for now.

Right now I am really liking the dog, Because I love to mount monsters, When I do a hunt I will mount all 3 monsters, So the fast manoeuvrability is key for me, I mount all 3 monsters to attack each other to get extra monster parts. So every hunt I get monster pards from 3 different monsters, And then of course the monster parts from the primary kill.

@Rurikhan I'm sure you probably heard this already, but a tip that will change your life is go into the settings and use the alternate buttons for run, there is an option to use R, L stick click, or both. Use both, when you click in on the stick, you run and it becomes a toggle, not a hold. Will also help you with your busted pro controller issues with running, lol

As someone who played 50 hours in 4 days, it's been really fun and I'm loving the changes to the insect glaive and the kinsects. Removes all the grinding to get every kinsect 5 times for every element. I've only hit the lottery jackpot once in 50 hours of gameplay

Couldn't agree more on the Binging & Rushing differentiation, I did allllllllll of the Village Quests before touching the Hub quests, now I'm HR6 and completing all my hub quests before doing 'that quest'. So I haven't even discovered cartain other monsters yet announced or otherwise.

You can absolutely save the appearance of the buddies. When you go to the scout a buddy menu there's a manage presets option, and you could have saved your very first Palico already.

Re: controllers - I bought the PowerA controller for about 25 euros and it's been fine. Feels really light and cheap when you get it, but I've been using it non stop not just on Switch but it has full compatibility on Steam too. Has two bindable buttons on the back too which I use for the radial.

I just heard Ruri say that you cant save your Palicoe prefigs, but you can I have it set to my original Palicoe all the time

Such an awesome game. Am loving exploring all the maps. Playing with the Lance for the first playthrough and loving every bit.

For controller problem, cheper is use adapter. I use ps4 pad with wirless adapter "mayflash magic-ns".

Coming off of iceborne I was so happy with the difficulty in this. It is very easy but it's also more fun imo. Even high rank hub quests feel easier solo than multiplayer.

I think you can avoid Rondine, by just using the Housekeeper for argosy trades! Great video gentlemen!

I've been playing only Village Quests and progression feels so much smoother than what I've been reading and hearing about Low Rank Hub. Kamura tickets and melding are introduced after the first credits sequence and I got plenty of money. Hub seems to throw two tiers of village stuff at you for each rank, which seems pretty overwhelming imo.

For me personally, im not TRYING to rush the game but ive been going through it very quickly. its sort of the nature of the the village quests only being 7 minutes long to beat MAX. on top of that, theres only so many weapons that ive wanted to craft so far. maybe it will change once i get into high rank but im already pretty much done with low rank and its been a couple days, as opposed to world when i played like 100 hours of low rank LOL

I was planning on avoiding Longsword in Rise for a while due to having at least 800+ hours of LS use... then I saw Almudron's Longsword and I was like "MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!! No seriously, Almudron's weapons are extremely cool!

I ordered the game online about a week ago and it finally came in today! I getting started with it during the podcast. I decided to use the Monster Hunter Language, but it seems like the Hunter still speaks in Japanese. The cutscenes default to Japanese as well in this setting it seems.
