Holy moly, this is a crossover I didn't know I needed. The 2 people I've followed the longest in Souls (Ruri) and MonHun (GaijinHunter) teaming up? YYYYEEEESSSS

damn didn’t know gaijin started with 3u I started with with MH and MHFU and thats when i fell in love. Honestly hearing 5 seconds from gaijin talking about legends of the guild makes me 100x more interested than the monster hunter movie. Like they could do so much with that lore and characters with the ace squad and the guild and there workings maybe throw in some ancient civilization stuff the global map maybe now thats a movie/series i would watch

You're stories of first trying MHTrii and not playing again for years before falling in love with the series resonates with me hard. I first played Trii when I was young, too young to fully understand and get it and got discouraged by the difficulty and left for several years. I got back into it a bit before MHW came out, liked it a lot more with the adult brain required to comprehend and bear any of it, then fell absolutely in love with World and Iceborne and from there the whole series.

Lol, That one guy watching this so late and sleepy that he accidentally pressed the dislike button instead of the like.

Didn't even know about the different perspectives on clutch claw until today, it's almost second nature for me to use it now. I want to try out my hunts without it to notice how different fights are. This was awesome ruri! Really fun listening to you two while farming research points !!

You two are so awesome. I also started in MHtri and so much is resonating with me. My favorite monster hunter content makers actually doing a podcast video is the best thing. Really made my day (I have a looooong commute). Thank you both!

What a time to be alive

This will be a fun podcast to listen to and intend to listen to the entirety of it. I just got to the halfway point right before you guys start talking about Rise. I can’t believe you guys almost gave up on Monster Hunter when you were first starting. For me, Gaijin was the first MH KZfaqr I followed to a massive degree when he started sharing those first gameplay videos of Gammoth and Mizutsune back when MHX was awaiting release so I can’t imagine what my MH Journey would have been like if things turned out differently. While we’re at it, for those are interested, I’m doing two surveys regarding Monster Hunter World Iceborne on rating every monster in the game. One is for base monsters and the other is on subspecies and variants. I’m simply curious on how the community views each of these monsters. I’ll keep these surveys open until Dec 24 and will post results on several media platforms such as Reddit and comment sections in other Mh KZfaq sections such as this one. This is dope yo. I've been following Gaijinhunter since the beginning and I recently discovered Rurikhan. I've been Podcasting for over a year now in my niche and despite how many podcasts are out there, I still think long form video and audio content is still so underutilized in some spaces. Cheers to you guys for doing one.

Ah, Rurikhan, I totally remeber that gathering quest where Lagiacrus shows up in Tri. Ironically I think it's actually on of the things that hooked me on the series. Having a too-strong monster appear and have to work around it motivated me to make progress in the game. A similar thing when Qurupeco would summon a powerful monster. The sense of being up against tough odds in a living ecosystem. Love it.

It made me happy to hear that Rurikhan considers himself a Third Fleeter even though he did not even get to G rank in TriU. TriU was the first MH game I played, but I had no friends who played and I eventually got rid of my WiiU before getting to G rank. I was reintroduced by a coworker when Generations was coming out and since then I’ve been playing the series almost religiously. I wasn’t sure if I would be considered a Third Fleeter since I never beat it

For favorite new Iceborne monster, I looooved shara, we knew nothing about it and it was such a unique experience and a fun fight. It's design is awesome, it's attacks are flashy and creative, the music is insane, I just loved everything about that hunt. Then came the obnoxious farm for the head, but other than that it was the best endgame boss I could have hoped for

Massive MH fan here since the ps2 era. Got a group of my mh friends to go watch the movie. We knew it wasnt gonna be great but nothing could have prepared us for that. We already had low expectations with his depiction of the resident evil games but damn man lol. Great podcast you guys have a good one

I also really hope they bring back side quests in rise. I just like them. It's like a an extra goal and its a nice feeling when you accomplish that

The Monster Hunter community is so so amazing. G.H. was a big inspiration for me and my son to really get into M.H. and years later we still watch EVERY video he puts out. Very awesome person and content creator and just a overall very very good addition to the Monster Hunter community.

Pretty good stuff, I love both Ruri's and Gaijin's content, so it's nice to see them work together! Any chance we can get those section markers on the playback bar of future videos so we can skip to topics we're interested in? It's kinda hard to sift through an hour and a half of audio to get to the good bits.

On the note of clutch claw, it feels bad as a gunner to have to do an additional step just to do damage. With how they've explained Rise the new riding mechanic isn't even needed, it's just there if you wanna do it which is cool in my book.

My issue with the claw is that many people were recurrent to this and didn't bother to learn how to move or fight, this game most precious aspect is the real experience you get from fighting

Extrememoth the monster that brought back my undecisivness with weapons because I was asked to swap weapons from aerial IG. All because his tornados came out too fast, but back with a vengence with dual blades

Interesting hearing the history of how you guys got into Monster Hunter. I think I came in before both of you, as my first Monster Hunter game was Monster Hunter Freedom. The first one. I played it for a while, as a Light Bow Gunner. However, I didn't really get it and I didn't have a mentor to teach me what was going on. So I kind of put it down after a while. But I gave it another chance with Freedom 2. I was reading about MH from forums and stuff, at the time. They talked about some wall you hit which totally makes something click. So what happened, it was the Khezu fight, and I was using Dual Blades. Had a terrible time trying to get past that monster, but somehow, during my repeat fights with it, something just *clicked*. I started to figure out how all the other aspects of the early game work, including the harvesting aspects. It was my mind blown moment when it all came together. Then I was hooked. I was there for MH from then on. I was right there when Freedom Unite came out. I even had that whole hack mess to be able to record video off my PSP. I even put up a recording on my KZfaq channel as pretty much my first video. I guess the one thing is that I just didn't really become a regular KZfaq creator. The issues with, even back then, all the constant fights with copyright trolls on my own vids (not anybody who actually owned any part of content in the videos, mind you) turned me off from being a regular KZfaqr, so I basically put up my own music or remixes, from time to time.

So awesome that you both are doing this podcast! Rurikhan I am a relatively new fan (also love the “Souls” content) and Gaijin I have been a fan forever, so informative, as a weapon generalist your weapon vids really help! I started MH with Freedom Unite when I bought it for the Vita the exact same PS Store sale back in 2012 I think. I have been hooked ever since. I have played all of them including Portable 3rd, best iteration in my humble opinion. Looking forward to Rise, March can not get here fast enough. Hopefully a demo in February? Keep up the amazing work both of you!

as a IG player who stopped playing IG in iceborne, i just want less downtime in hunts. with IG i had to: sharpen, keep 3 buffs up, keep the kinsect powered, keep the monster marked AND tenderized. At least with Greatsword i just go BONK

Decided to go back and check out this podcast from the start. Fellow Third Fleet here as well! Same experience. I started with MH3U on the Wii U. Friend of mine had started with it before me, he tried it out, didn't like it, then was thinking about picking it up again, had been talking to me about it and said it was kinda like Diablo 3's Adventure Mode. So, I picked it up when I grabbed a Wii U, tried it out, hated it. Was like, what is this? This is such a weird way to play a game, how can anyone get into this? I fumbled around even in the first few quests, was like, eh, whatever, didn't even get to Arzuros, put the game down for a couple weeks, then he was like "Hey, you'd picked up Monster Hunter right? Let's play it online" I was like, eh, I don't know, I kinda sucked at it, alright, I'll pick up, ehh, a heavy bowgun, I like this type of weapon, I'll give that a shot with you online. Went online, was like, oh, there's some meat to these big monsters, got my ass handed to me using heavy bowgun, but some reason decided to stick with it throughout 3U on my first playthrough, but had motivation now to push and start playing the game more and we progressed through the game and it was like, ah cool, okay, I like this now, this is fun. Then 4U came out on 3DS, I picked up a MH4U New 3DS with the game, fuckin' loved it and all the changes to make it better than 3, and I'm like, okay, got it, this shit is fantastic, lemme start using different weapons now! If you don't start by absolutely fucking hating Monster Hunter, you'll never learn to love Monster Hunter. Oh, and of course, before 4U came out, we went back and played 3U again on new characters, then before GU came out, we went back and played 3U some again on new characters, a while now before Rise came out, we went back and played GU some again on new characters, and I actually bothered played through base-World, which I'd skipped entirely until late-2020.

As a Third Fleet member myself, I´m loving this podcast!

I also started in Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii. I remenber i won a contest for the game and when it arrived home I couldn't stop playing it. Sunk hours into it even tho my internet was awfull at the time and couldn't do much online content.
