A conversation with 3 gurus: JP Sears, Swami Beyondananda and David Ellzey, moderate by Maurizio Benazzo, to enlighten up your day ;-) At SAND16 in the USA we had the unique opportunity of gathering, in the same room, three unique flavors of guru-nesseessness... So this panel was born. Be aware some comments would not be easily understood by mere seekers since these teachings are beyond the usual level of human understanding. And be aware that if we don't make some fun of our spiritual quest once in a while we risk taking this illusory world too seriously... and, that said, we should take this illusory world VERY seriously as well. And here lies the beautiful paradox of embodying and transcending reality... so... just smile and get on the ride with us...

I was sitting in the front row. You can see my bald spot near Maurizio's leg. I was doubled over with laughter half the time. The whole thing was impromptu. JP and David had a hard time keeping a straight face.

Jokes aside, I think most anti-materialist religions were invented to keep the peasants out of the way of the lords. Easy for a guy in a palace eating 2500 calories a day to tell the starving public "the physical is temporary, money isn't important. Be stoic and thankful for what you have. Be humble and want for nothing".

It's amazing that JP allows his Ego to come out fully and live- in a comical way- I have used my humor this way. Learning to laugh at yourself is one of the many valuable lessons a person can learn and have fun with. There is no limit to what a person can do with themselves. So many of us(myself included) have at one time been so limited in our experience of OURSELVES. It's not easy being cheesy.

The real lesson here for me anyways is that I have been taking things to seriously in reguard to life and its workings, to smile when your in the shit, to laugh at oneself at least once a day and to empty the mind with mindfullness, to learn more puns on words and to understand oneself by replacing our higherselfs with google and youtube.

I like your choice Ellie, I believe the higher-self can be sitting way too high on its high horse sometimes and needs a dose of physical reality. !!! I am 3rd year psychology student and the voices are there, I am going to say there is 3 voices inside our heads, the good the bad and your sub-conscious and you. 4 in total. I told them all that if they don't shut up I will find a way to kill them either in this life or the next, I'm a-coming....I create a picture of a volume control in my minds eye and then just turn the volume down and I can't hear any voice apart from my Echo....echo......

Okay, 3rd yr. psych: is self ego and higher self super ego? Have you any idea of what super ego entails? Looking for a serious answer. Also, 3 voices in our head (or 4) If one is good and the 2nd bad (which I totally believe), how do you define "subconscious" and "you"? Also one good, one bad or maybe neutral? This is some interesting stuff.

I clicked on this to watch lovely David Ellzey, who just oozes... IS... love, compassion and kindness. I was totally unprepared for his SO funny and entertaining persona! What wonderful creativity and humour from all four of these guys.... I absolutely LOVED it. This is now my favourite video and I'm going to be smiling for a really long time, just by thinking of the many golden moments of spontaneous, hilarious and clever comedy here.

i mean what is a guru? a person that helps you on your spiritual gurney. that is all. its a way of describing some one. if you use that to stroke your ego, thats different, but if someone called me that, i would take it as a complement and it would mean that im helping and being appreciated. but i wouldn't say something like "im a spiritual guru and all should listen to me". its like indigo children. i think/feel that im an indigo, and i used to say that but then i realized that it doesnt mean shit to most people and i was stroking my ego with that.

he was right about prison making you enlightenment XD/ jail deffenetly realigned all my chakras XD. in al seriousness though, being in that place forced me to find a way to be ok in that environment and to make myself happy in it. so if you are ever in a situation that feels hopeless, dont fall into a spiral, use that opportunity to challenge yourself to let yourself be happy and not let that situation bring you down
