The passing of time will never diminish the quality of these three voices. I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned the 'moment' that says it all for me in this video. Pavarotti is in full voice, magnificent tone at around 1:10 holding the note, and it is the raised eyebrows and sideways glance and smile from Jose at 1:15 that says it all. He knew he was in the presence of greatness. We'll wait a long time before we hear the like of Pavarotti again.

It just cracks me up how the other two look like they have to ‘get ready’ for their parts, they are so serious... meanwhile when it’s Luciano’s turn, he just leans over to the mic like he’s about to chit chat, finishes his part, then gazes over at the stars. He couldn’t be more laid back if he were sipping a bottle of wine!

This performance continues to remove the top of my head, every time I listen to or watch it. It is one of the greatest moments in musical history. We can get a sense of it, as passive observers, at the distance that technology inevitably keeps us. But to actually have been there? To be in that audience when that moment was created? To have heard those voices come together like that? Live and in the flesh? Never to be repeated? That must be a profound experience that only those who were actually there can fully appreciate. Thanks heavens it was captured for posterity. But what I would have given to have witnessed it first hand.

Yeah, he was pretty awesome. All of them, but Pavarotti was just out there. A titanic voice but with finesse and strength all at the same time. Won’t hear another like him for a while methinks.

The most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard in my whole entire life. I only wish that I could have seen them perform this live. This song is one of the things getting me through these rough times. God bless 🙏

I love how you can see their bodies expand like human instruments at the end. I of course love Pavarotti and Carreras, but Domingo's tone there sends chills down my spine.

A million yes. Domingo’s tone is superb in my opinion. Carreras charisma is the best, the fact that he battle leukemia and still was able to deliver this performance. For this I say he was my favorite

I found my way here during about of insomnia. I've never really listened to opera before, I'm a metalhead for the most part. This... This is something beautiful that the world needs more of. Absolutely stunning.

This Aria, These 3 legendary voices, backed up by 2 full scale orchestras, with such awesome power, conducted by maestro Mehta, performed admirably that had the composer Puccini lived to see this day, would have been proud to have witness such a wonderful performance.

Out of this world. Pavarotti sings this like no other. His other two friends with him are perfect. Second best performance I have ever heard of this beautiful song. The first is Pavarotti singing it in 1994. I started crying the second Pavarotti starts singing this. Wow what a magical gift God gave the world while he sang. Now on KZfaq the world can relieve this over and over again. Still crying
