Enjoy the message, information, and especially the satire! I review a list of main reasons people choose to purchase Harley Davidson Touring Model, like Street Glide and Road Glide. We have a sweet Street Glide in our home moto shop and figured this was the perfect opportunity!
To be clear, I have said it many times and will continue to say it! Ride what you are comfortable on, don’t let anyone tell you what to ride! Just freaking go ride and enjoy life!

Who the hell is Ironhead Sally? Well here's my channel description:
Old School Bikes and Old School Ways! Ride hard, wrench a lot, and always having a blast.
Bike camping, wrenching, and shenanigans. My husband and I create motorcycle content for people that are tired of seeing all of the fake insta accounts of sponsored boring yuppies. Here's some realness, we are just broke bikers living the low life and getting by. I ride a 1985 Ironhead Chopper as my daily, my touring bike is a 1984 FXR. We have lots of Ironheads and FXRs and are constantly building more, trying to keep these old neglected scoots on the road instead of rotting away in a garage.
Appreciate all the love & support
Keeping it Real! Keep it Sketchy!

Im watching this after coming back from work at 4.30am in the morning , riding through the city with only taxis and clubbers going home on my lil sporty .The sun is rising with that beautiful orange glow the birds are singing , the wind in my face , the smell of dew , the chill of a new day as i leave the city and lean into the windy country road . No dashboard , no computer, ne heated grips , no ABS, the bike is rattling and i feel blessed , no other bike could give me that feeling . God i love my lil sporty . Each to their own. Greetings from Leeds UK.

I love my old road king. No radio just the sound of the bike and the wind. I have had several other bikes so far I like this one the best. Im older now and ride over 30 miles one way to work. Its just comfortable for me. Buy and ride the bike that you like and that works for you. And sportsters are awsome to. Dont worry about the snobs do what you want.

That's right, you ride what you want to ride, not what other people tell you what you should be riding. I picked up a Suzuki DR650 for 8k out the door and I can go a lot more places than someone who spent 30 or 40k on their huge road bike. I have seen people ride a scooter across country and have an awesome trip. If someone tells me what I'm riding isn't good enough, I don't need to be riding with those people.

Preach it - one of my best trips across Oregon was when I took 4 days doing it on a 250cc dual sport thumper. Camped for free in hidden places in the woods, explored lots of things, didn't get too far per day or spend too much either. Came home tanned and skinnier.

In 1971 I bought a second hand Sportster, it was hard tailed and stroked. I got to knowing the biker community in my area and quickly noticed most everyone was riding chopped pan heads, shovel heads, 45's and knuckles. It was a natural progression to up grade to a 58 pan head. The four years I rode the Sportster not one time did I get a ration of shit from guys riding 74ci Harleys. Bikers then and so called bikers now are completely different. Most people I see nowadays riding are what I call motorcycle enthusiasts. If they hear a certain model is popular that's what they tend to gravitate to, cookie cutter.

I have had people give me shit for riding an older Dyna. I don’t really care lol. I purposely went out looking for a bike from the era of my childhood. You can buy them cash and have no crazy payment and in opinion still have lots of fun. I’m like you I prefer the immersion of the wind and exhaust sound. No music, no windshield just you in the elements. I have tried some of my friend’s baggers and they are just way too heavy for in city riding. Keep up the good work guys. Ride what you can afford. I ride a bagger, a Ducati Monster, and a Ktm. I know I can get on that 103 street glide and at 42000 miles it’s given me ZERO ISSUES. It may break tomorrow, but now it’s paid for so oh well. I’ love motorcycles, not a typical brand… I’ll ride with anyone, I’m more of a solo rider but not by choice

I am 49 and I ride a 1990 sporty. I ride all winter, but I notice most baggers don't come out until it is 80 degrees, and they only ride 15 miles to the bar. A lot of people on baggers are to cool to wave at other bikes (maybe they are too scared to take their hands off the bars). Some bagger riders won't stop to help someone on the side of the road (I have had plenty of them pass me by when I am working on the bike).

In 2000 I bought a new Fatboy, loved to cruise around town but when I got on the interstate I felt like I was going to get blown off the bike above 75 mph, I didn't have any way of securing my leather jacket or chaps when I got off the bike while walking around the bike shows or other outdoor events and had to carry my leathers or sweat my ass off wearing them. But I loved my Fatboy and continued riding it until 2006 when I rented a Ultra Classic for the weekend, and it was all over then. I returned the rented bike and traded my Fatboy for a new Ultra Classic with a fairing, stereo and saddlebags and haven't looked back. I do love the sound of a carbureted Harley. potato potato potato.

Definitely entertaining! As always you just reaffirm what riding a motorcycle is all about. I have owned two 1200 Sportsters. Both were 05's. Rubber mounted, carb'ed not injected, easy to maintain and a blast to ride. I don't pay attention to what others have to say about anything that I own. I just tell them when they start paying my bills, then I'll listen to their mumbo jumbo. Only time I use a windshield is winter time. Anything to help cut the wind chill. Keep riding those beautiful old motors and enjoy your time riding! Peace!

I rode a 89 Sportster for about 10 years. I extended the rear 8 inches, hardtailed it, 16 inch apes, solo seat, 50 caliber ammo boxes on each side for storage. i loved that bike, but it got to where it was uncomfortable to go any distance on it, so i bought a Fatboy that i r rode for a little, sold it and got Gypsy my 93 Electraglide. She not pretty, she's an EVO and she is comfortable. i'm getting ready to get another EVO bagger. The ten years i rode my Sportster there was a few times i had people tell me it was a girl's bike. I think when you get older,Sally, you may want to switch to a bagger style for the comfort. I turn 60 this year and i still want to keep riding, but my bones and body just need a little more comfort. I know the bagger types that you are talking about, though. I don't shame anyone for what they ride, but like you said there will always be *ssholes out there, that think their sh*t don't stink. Love the video. Peace-out.

I have too much to say... I am a recovering bagger owner and proof that you can go back to a chopper. Baggers are undoubtedly better for a passenger with the bigger frame a better suspension. They have more room and softer ride. All newer bikes have the same motors available. Even though the bagger has 300 pounds extra and could use the extra power they don't actually get it. Anyways I can debate this all day so I'm going to end with, I currently ride a 1980 chopper I really like that color of orange on that street glide, and always enjoy your video!

Sally ... jeffrey from Illinois here ... I like you and your channel and your pretty spot on with your rants , this one IMO is more about the Harley culture in general . I dont ride Harleys , never owned one , but sure see a lot of people riding baggers that shouldnt be . You have to be a Jedi master to ride a big bike like that , a expert in motorcycling so to speak , but that macho harley crowd pushes people into it sadly ... Im 60 years old and have been riding since I was 7 years old and have ridden just about every kind of bike that was made and what do I ride into my final riding years ??? A 1986 Honda Goldwing Interstate and IMO the finest motorcycle ever made . Its a full bagger bike with out the gadgets you speak of and its a huge bike thats relatively light at 670 pounds . It does it all , high speed cruising , twisties , stop light drag races , long range traveling in comfort ... Some of your points about big bagger bikes is valid but honestly , I have never loved to to ride so much since I have owned the wing , the fairing , windshield , and bags just make motorcycling a whole diffrent animal . Being able to ride in the colder weather , having places to carry shit , and blocking all the stupid bugs , birds , rocks ...etc and the constant wind blast just makes me love motorcycling more than I ever have so I ride my ass off ... Mind you , I just speaking about style of bike here , not brands , ride what you like is my motto ... I have too fix my own bikes too , so yeah I like the older models myself ....

This video is pretty straight and damnnnn right! Got lucky enough to got me a Sportster and that “little thing” brought me too much fun since day 1 … not only making it mine (swapping aftermarket parts and doing other things on it) but also, and the most important FREEDOM!!!! Got to rode my bike and moto camping exploring places in my state (California) like Big Sur all the way hwy1, Yosemite, Sequoia and Joshua Tree National parks, Alabama Hills on HWY 395 . Also interstate places like Virginia city (Nevada) last Summer where I got lucky enough to meet you both and this last spring 2024 I did 2 different runs to Arizona (one to Bisbee for The prowl bike show and the other to Sedona heading back home on the Route 66)… In any of all those trips the bike skip a bit, didn’t even hiccup and never let me down … Highways, backroads, city streets, dirty roads and off roads … Couldn’t be more stoked and couldn’t care less about what all these “brothers” have to say about my “little girlie bike” … 😂😂😂 Nothing can’t compare and beat the feeling of riding a real motorcycle, listening and feeling the engine while getting slapped for bugs and even birds sometimes while in the wind… Riding a bagger is like “driving” a Tesla …. 😂😂😂 Be a man, ride a Sportster interstate … everyone can touring on a bagger!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Cannot wait for more miles in the wind on my sporty!!! Keep up the good work amigos!!!

The Truth hearts some, I myself had a 2016 Ultra Classic and a 2015 Street Glide at different times. After riding them in the city and not just riding on the highways they get heavy. Just wait till your turning into a parking lot and someone cuts you off and you try to not drop those heavy bikes. I went back to a 2010 Street Bob and just the light weight makes the ride better and way nicer in town and on the highway. The wind in the face and just being one with the open road is the key, so many more things come alive when the fairing goes bye bye...

i rode harleys for many years. went from a sporty to fxr to bagger. then i bought a dual sport. it was and is still the most fun i have ever had on a motorcycle. they can take you places and see things you will never get to on a large street bike. i have had quite a few different dual sports over the last 17 yrs but still have the first one that started it all. i bought it new and currently has round 85,000 miles. i recently picked up a 95 heritage for longer highway trips but don't ride it much. when you get used to smaller, lighter bikes you really appreciate just how easy and fun they are. just pushing the heritage out of the way in garage to get the dual sport out to ride is annoying. ride your ride. but for me...... phuck those big heavy bikes!

I have never even put a headphone in while riding. I prefer ironheads and shovelheads. My bikes rattle. My bikes shake. My bikes leak oil. I need to ride with tools.... and use them. I love this. Same here dude. Ride a dyna. I cant stand to ride with the clip on windshield and the sissy bar on back. The sissy bar is for long trips. Have to have somewhere to ratchet strap my luggage to. My saddle bags were used swap meet throw over bags, took a weekend with saddle soap n mink oil tomake em functional. My last 2 bikes before this was hardtail pans, a 48 n a (19)61. Both stripped down. Springers, jockey)foot clutch. The 61 was a genuine 1 kicker, no prime kicks. It only had an sns e, mallory unilight and a hydraulic j grind. All my buddies with baggers wondered why they couldn't pass me, i told them the motor co had an electric nanny to limit their tope d to 103, or so. My pan, only limit was how much vodka i had in me an what size sprocket i had on the rear. Oh, an baggers are the real girls bike, soft ass rider an creature comforts. Sporties are the REAL MANS BIKES. Just you n piss n vinegar attitude.

Still have way more respect for the folks on the sporties and soft tail choppers and so on that ride that many more miles every 6 months! Lol. We are looking for a Sportster for me to go back and forth to work to give the Ultra a break. Why cause I believe like you guys the Sportster is still one of the coolest bikes Harley came out with.

I picked up an 08 FLHTC at a good price a few years ago and immediately stripped it down to bare bone with only bags on it. Like a Road King. Bags are mostly for my rain gear (I ride/live in Florida). Yes, I put on mile in the rain. Rode from FL to Arkansas in 2013 and most of it was rain. Had a Sportster and loved it until it got sideswiped.

Not a fan of Harleys in general, but I do like the same things as you do in motorcycles; No fairings or windshields, air cooled, push rod actuated valve train, carbureted, simple machines with no fancy electronics. I ride a 1986 BMW R80 (non faring version) Very smooth engine, quick, very comfortable, nice suspension on the softer side, good brakes , handling has a good balance between responsiveness and stability. R80 vs an 883 from the same time period, the r80 is a better motorcycle in category.

I've had all kinds of bikes, 883 sportster, iron head shovel electraglide sport, lowrider fxr, and about a billion metric cruisers and race bikes. But my faves were the HD iron head shovel and the 2 evos. Now as a harley guy of course I want a knuckle but just a little out of my budget . Both of my big Harleys were S&S 96" engines with baker 5 speed which made them the ultimate versions for their time, very fast, very reliable and on par horsepower wise with the twin cams of today both were around 120 hp so no slouch and my little 883 Evo was a ninja killer all stock except for the carb and pipes. I don't want to pay 10 grand for a proprietary computer to tune my bike and mod it. I'd much rather carry some simple hand tools plugs and a quart of oil in my bags and be confident I'll get where I'm going because I can rebuild my bike on the side of the road! Don't need any music but the sound of the pipes, that's what I wanna hear, that's my therapy and what Harleys were designed for, long distance riding enjoyment. If you wanna race buy a xr750 and be evel knevil!

In the past I’ve had a few crotch rockets, an old bonneville, and an old Honda hawk, over 30 motorcycles in total and I ride every single day. I personally love my bagger, I travel across country a lot and it’s just the best tool for my style of riding. Here’s my humble opinion… Run what you brung, buy what you like and if other people’s opinions affect you then maybe spend money on therapy instead of a new bike.

I'm 70 years old and I ride an '06 electraglide. I'd rather be on an evo, shovel or a pan. The technology on these new bikes makes it almost impossible to work on your own bike. I guess that's the way the gov't and HD want it. I was at the HD shop yesterday to get a part. I looked at the prices, WOW! I could buy a brand new car for what a new HD cost. I've been riding an Evo Sportster for ages, so long that people call me Sportster Jim but nobody ever gives me a hard time about it. Maybe because I put more miles on a Sportster than they do on their "big" bikes or maybe it's because I live in the Backwoods where few people can afford to show off. Lol When I got my first big twin my buddy said " you're never going to want to ride that Sportster again. The Dyna is gone but the Sportsters remain. Many years back I rode stripped down hardtail motorcycles. Mostly because they fit my budget. These were bare bones bikes. No gauges or speedo's. They wouldn't go thru the required state inspection process, but we road them and took the tickets when we go them. They seemed to break down, or have parts fall off all the time. But hey, that's what we could afford. Once on a 70 mile trip, I broke down 3 times. We took it in stride. If we were lucky, we'd have someone in a van follow us with a load of tools and extra gas. Then as our financial situations got better, so did our bikes. My knee's will never be the same from kickbacks. And Hitting potholes on my ridged frame, caused me to have lifelong back issues. So after a lifetime of self imposed abuse, I found a way to ride that wasn't tortue. At the moment I own a '06 Harley Police Road King. It's only cool factor is it's a former NYC Police bike. It's a pretty bare bones and simple bike. Only option it has is a factory add on Tachometer. No cruise control , no additional wiring. It does have a single Police air ride seat with rear air shocks, and a windshield. It does have saddle bags, and I put a Honda goldwing tour box on it. I don't like leaving my helmet and gloves ,or my jacket just laying around for anyone to pick up and walk off with. I carry a minimum amount of tools, which I hardly ever used. I've never had a ignition problem, or issue with my fuel injection. Tire's, brakes, and oil changes is all I do to it. It's comfortable, and I would never go back to riding like in the old days. These bikes are the best deals you'll find on a Harley bagger. They're not necessarily pretty, but they will get the job done if your last name doesn't end in Trump.,,
