Abaddon was really well written during the Finale of the Siege of Terra. If we ignore the Moment when he stopped Valdors Spear with one Hand and the Power of Friendship. Aside from that, i really started to like him a bit.

In Roboutian Heresy, the Mournival are the unbreakable brotherhood and with the passing of Warmaster Horus, they became co-leaders of the Sons of Horus Legion. And the Mournival had lasted for 10,000 years with every new successor.

Actually the Mournival succeeded and fulfilled their purpose. They were the advisors to Horus, each representing a different aspect of Horus's character / the legion's character. Horus did listen to Loken during his final battle with the Emperor. It was a wise move to empower Loken to act as a backup conscience. Even when Horus was corrupted, Loken was a pretty solid failsafe. Basically Horus created his own Jiminy Cricket and it worked.

Yeah, the mourn is was short lived and Horus’s turn to the dark side was way too fast. However, I don’t think the writing team anticipated the popularity success of the Horus Heresy when writing the first books. I believe they were planning to wrap the whole thing up in 5 or so novels.

@majorkill the second round of bombardment wasn't virus bombs but a normal bombardment. Thats partially how Loken survived. This is said in the book where istvann 3 happens and is referenced in betrayer as the world eaters comb the battlefield for survivors and recover Kharn
