Over half a century has passed since Beatlemania hit the United States. The Beatles formed in 1960 in the industrial city of Liverpool, England, and became cultural icons and a phenomenon that is still highly influential in world culture today. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr were integral in the development of 1960s counter culture and made pop music into the recognized art form that it is today. But apart from their iconic status and influence in the world, members of The Beatles have faced their fair share of tragedy. To find out the tragic truth about The Beatles, watch this video!

I believe you need to include the effect the death of Brian Epstein had on the band, especially John. For the years following the point their fame took off, Brian was the one who made many, if not most, of the decisions concerning their professional and personal lives. His death was especially traumatic to John. Then there was the impact their dentist had on them, because of the electric tea he served the Beatles one night after dinner! Before that moment, the world was in black and white, and what was to come after was in technicolor! That’s when the rest of the world began to experience life in Technicolor as well!

not gonna mention that Paul McCartney’s mum died when he was 14? (The songs Yesterday and Let it Be are both about his mum if anyone’s curious). also not gonna mention John Lennon’s mother also died when he was a teenager I see. It was actually a source of bonding between the two. Paul knew what it was like to loose a mum, so he helped John through it as best he could. I think that’s why they were closer to each other than to Ringo or George, though they all loved each other for sure. I’m a Beatles nerd if you didn’t notice.

I was born after they broke up and have been into heavy metal, House music, Acid House, Reggae and Jazz. There will never be a band like the Beatles again. Not because they had the best drummer, guitarist or bassist... but, because as a whole they made some of the most perfect music ever made and yes, they made a few shit songs as well, but even these were better than most bands good stuff. Never has a band been so diverse.....Rock, Blues, Rock n Roll, Pop, Psychedelic, Heavy Metal. No 2 songs sound the same, youbcan sing along, dance or just listen to their songs. The conclusion... Anyone who says the Beatles were nothing but genius, really does not understand music. There will never be another Beatles. Artists top 10 in no particular order, although I might miss one or two 1. Beatles 2. Queen 3. Simon and Garfunkel 4. AC/DC or Metalica 5. The Cure 6. Stereophonics 7. Bob Marley 8. Otis Redding. Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elivis Presley 9. Elton John 10. ELO

The Beatles are the foundation of a music as we know it. They preformed for only 10 years and yet almost 60 years later people still listen to their music. It's incredible and in this time I think unbeliveable. Today's music you listen to for a week or so and then you don't even remamber the name of that song. And he was no tough guy either although he tried to give the impression that he was, and before all the keyboard warriors get their sad little fingers going I am a Liverpudlian of that era.

Agreed - a number of inaccuracies I thought. The Beatles certainly dominated the U.S. Billboard charts in 1964. I wish I'd read Fisher's review before watching.

John Lennon did NOT come from a working class family as stated early on in this video. Paul, George, and Ringo did. John came from a middle class home. John grew up with his aunt Mimi and uncle George in a house called "Mendips", at 251 Menlove Avenue, Liverpool.

i knew that would come up . i still think he did too. there was too much money pouring in that there was no way they( the royal fam) were going to let it be. Thats what i think broke the band up because John didnt care for Billy and resented him when he tried to be the leader. plus john didnt like the direction that Faul was taking the music .

A video titled "tragic truth" is supposed to reveal that there was something intrinsically tragic about the entire situation. It's not supposed to be a few sad facts about members of a wildly successful band. "Tragedy," by the way, isn't the fact that life can be tough and sad. It means that your character and situations lead inexorably to a disastrous situation - and you can have an impeccable character and still suffer.
