What is the shortest border between two countries? This is a question that seems to have a pretty obvious answer, being the border between Vatican City and Italy. However, this border doesn't even come close to the true answer. In subsaharan Africa exist the 4 countries which share a very close border with eachother.

For anyone wondering they treat the little second of river as international waters so Namibia and Zimbabwe can still ship stuff to each other along the river. There's two ferries on this river, one that crosses it going north to south and one that runs east to west.

That’s true, but this video is about total border length, so for Spain and Morocco you’d also have to include Ceuta and Melilla and other, the border would be longer. The border you are talking about is the shortest single border though!

Honorable mention: Canada and Denmark Explanation: If you don’t know Greenland is apart of Denmark, so there’s this little island named Hans Island. Greenland and Canada had a “war” named the Whisky War. The reason for the name is because one of the county would put a flag and Canadian Whisky or Denmark whiskey. They eventually agreed to spilt the island in half so technically Denmark and Canada share a small border.

Fun fact, although Spain and Morocco share a border in multiple places the shortest continuous border between two countries is the one between the Spanish "Peñon de Vélez de la Gómera" and Morocco. It's a tiny piece of land separated by a beach, it's length really depends on the tide, but it's around 80m.

Not quite, that is a straight line, it never bends. So it doesn't matter whether you Use 150m as the unit or 4 cm as a unit, it Will always rem ain 150 m.

I see I am wrong because of a slight nuance. The infinite coastline paradox is for a country bordering a body of water. I tried to apply it to a country bordering another country because that border was in a river. The border has to be a shoreline for the infinite coastline paradox.

Guys, Spain doesn't have the shortest border with Morocco, it's almost 30 km long, you can't cherry pick particular sections of a border, it's the whole that counts.

Actually, within the Netherlands, there are little pieces of Belgium inside (yes really inside) in and around Baarle Hertog which have smaller borders than 150 meters.

That’s true, but the video is about total border length, so for Spain and Morocco you’d also have to include Ceuta and Melilla and other, the border would be longer. The border you are talking about is the shortest single border though!

Baarle Nassau / Baarle Hertog? I've been there several times (it's not far from here), but I don't think there's anything quite that short (as in less than a meter) as they tended to follow the outlines of certain farmlands and whether or not they paid rent to the Duke of Brabant.

i think if you judge it by a land border I found one that is much smaller than the vatican. there is a border between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. There is an island that both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain share, and is some sort of travel/border checkpoint that splits the small island in half. It looks like it could take the top spot

I remember from a KZfaq video that said that Botswana and Zambia had the 2nd shortest border. They said the shortest border was India and Sri Lanka, but I never have heard they bordered each other.

The Shortest border is actually between Spain and Morocco, and i'm not talking about Ceuta or Melilla but the enclave of Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera which borders 85 m with Morocco. But still, good video and editing.

The frontier between Maroc and Spain is the addition of Ceuta's, Melila's and Penon de Velez's, it's one frontier with several parts.

@@afanebrahimi7278 But neither Ceuta, Peñón or Melilla are interconnected between them, of course they are a single frontier, that's literally how frontiers works. But like you said, they are split in several parts, and for instance they count as an independent border of the same frontier, and in this case Peñón de Vélez is a land 85 m borders that is hundreds of km away from Ceuta or Melilla, it's not continuous so it counts.

Wrong! The border between Ceuta and Morocco is 6.4km long. Also, it's not an enclave/exclave as it's not totally surrounded by Morocco, if it was, it would be a Spanish exclave and a Moroccan enclave. The short Spain/Morocco border you're trying to refer to is mentioned in several other comments here so I won't bore readers by repeating it.

@@robertfoulkes1832 you are wrong too my bro! its actually the shortest border spain borders morocco in a very small island that was separated from moroccan lands by water in the past, however. a very strong storm attached this piece of land with the african-moroccan lands (sandbar) and its name is :' La Gomera 'i think.. just spanish soldiers are living in that island protecting their borders from morocco so they can avoid political conflicts. the length of this formed border is about 85 meters. witch makes him the shortest ever international border between two countries in the world.
