This is really good to hear actually. I dated a guy when I was 20 who was a chef and had a lot of female coworkers. I was ok with that. One of them even flirted with him and I was ok with that. But then he told me he was taking a few of them out to the only 21+ strip club in town, refused to change the place so that I could come too, and spent hundreds of dollars buying them drinks. And I was supposed to be ok with that, knowing that one of these women he was getting drunk had already hit on him. And he had the balls to yell at ME for "ruining his whole night" by calling him and asking him if he made it home at 3am. So glad I got away from that abusive fuckface..

I feel like men and women are capable of having a platonic friendship,with nothing inappropriate going on;However, I do believe that men and women can't be friends without the male or female having an attraction or having an interest. If a female is friends with a guy, chances are he is interested in her or vice versa. If the door opened for them to be more than friends, chances are he would hop on that opportunity or she would . I think it's rare for men an women to be just friends with no attraction or interest involved on one, or both ends. Friends of the opposite gender is something the older generations didn't tolerate and I agree. It invites danger. This sentiment does not make anyone petty or insecure. Its just certain boundaries you dont play with. Now, none of us can help who we grew up with cause friends from way before you met your spouse can be like "family". So here's the deal with that. It's so weird watching this now after Jeannie's ex's new woman proclaimed that she and Jeannie's ex were friends for 8 years, yet Jeannie had no idea about it. the new woman also proclaims that she was there for him emotionally during rough times between his and Jeannie's marriage and that she would always "side" with Jeannie during such conversations. So while, yes, Jeannie did file for the divorce, and her ex (per his new woman) was reportedly devastated over the split, Jeannie is quoted in this episode as, "don't cheat on me emotionally. if he had a female friend, I would need to have every conversation about me with me in the room" and that there would be a rule that he isn't allowed to talk about their marriage to her.. yet her ex husband broke that so there clearly were secrets being kept. We aren't all angels and something was lacking in his life, but it's evident that it wasn't handled properly and honestly. It's just really sad to me to see how much things can change in only a matter of a couple years and even less

Why be so possessive over your husband/significant other? If a person(you) can see his amazing qualities, other people are going to notice too. Now some people do just want to be a home wrecker, but there are defiantly people who have a friends of the opposite gender & love them like a friend or even family! I have never been friends with a guy even when I was single. It always turns into something more. Men will pursue you, especially if you're pretty. Friendships are incredibly intimate. I just never go that route.

I always say that you have to build a friendship first, and then work on becoming something more. From experience, it always takes a turns for the worst if you don't see the person's true colors until after the relationship becomes exclusive. I've been on both ends. I had a best friend that some of my exes didn't like or trust; and it was definitely an uphill battle trying to get them to understand that my best friend was nothing more than that. I've also dated people who had close friends that I didn't like or trust as well. Sadly, things like that can make or break a relationship.

It's a hard thing to be a man's friend. I had this guy that I absolutely adored. He hit on me. I found out be was married. I had to shut it down because the attraction boundaries had been crossed. I hate I didn't know right away he was married. All I kept thinking is that it could have been a great friendship. as great as a person he is for conversation and meeting of the minds I know that it would be a time where he wants more than a friendship. It's sad men and women can't be friends. Women need men for platonic friendships. they offer something very different than your female friends. I use to always have mixed feeling about platonic friendships but they do exist!! I have known a lot of males my entire life and have not felt like I wanted anything more. Were just friends! I have friends whose girlfriends were comfortable around me because we shared one thing in common (Respect) and they know I will get my friends straight! I just don't think that a married couple, and for both sides, should have and single friends of the opposite sex. If you're gonna play the "I've known them since forever" card, then let your friends become my friends and yours mind. The only way it will works if everybody is friends. But even still even if your spouse is trustworthy, many people who claim to be your friends aren't. First of all if I was the best friend of a guy who's married, has a girlfriend, or is engaged, i would have to keep my distance. I think what Tamar said about somebody always likes somebody is kind of true from what I have seen. Somebody will like someone in a friendship if there are no boundaries such as do not spend too much time with him/her because that space that somebody is taking in my opinion was naturally designed for a spouse (if you want to get married of course). So your body does not know how to tell which one it is a friend, or a spouse and that's where things can get a little tricky and difficult especially if you can not be with him or her for some reason. When you are more mature those insecure feelings become less significant. Tamar was at least honest and called her own self out. I think childhood friends and longtime friends should be accepted. Those new ones need to be friends to both husband and wife.

Personally, I feel that there should be no question of male-female friendships once a person is married. Meaning, the inner circle should have changed. Of course not all of your friends will be married but that just means you should be hanging with single friends less and less (male or female) Therefore, you lessen the possibilities of infidelity. At the same time, you should be mindful of how much time is being spent with married friends as well! Everything in moderation. Marriage is a sacred union between two ppl with God at the center. That is all. Just how I feel about that.
