Israel's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Danny Ayalon explains the historical facts relating to the issue of refugees in the Israeli Palestinian conflict. The video explains the reason there are still refugees after more than six decades is because of Arab leaders' recalcitrance to accept their brethren and the United Nations which created a separate agency with unique principles and criteria. The video also highlights the issue of the Jewish refugees who were forced out of their homes in the Arab world, and were subsequently absorbed by the State of Israel.

James G. Lindsay, UNRWA's former general counsel has stated;“UNRWA’s failure to match UNHCR’s success (in resettling refugees) obviously represents a political decision on the part of the agency”, and that “UNRWA has gradually adopted a distinctive political viewpoint that favors the Palestinian and Arab narrative of events in the Middle East.

Awesome video. I always wondered why the number grew to 4 million. Now it all is so clear. The separate agency maintains the refugee status to use as a weapon, and continue to promote propoganda videos against Israel. Very cool. Thanks Danny!

Nothing of this explains the shrinking of the palestinian population. Look at ottoman british statistics before israel.was founded. There was never a majority of jews living in that country. 80% muslim and 18% chistian. It was criminal from the european settlers to found their pure jewish state, claiming the land only for the jews. Before all religions could coexist peacefully. And its a lie that all jews flew from neighboring countries. There is still a great community of jews in marroco or turkey for incense. The jews are not from ancient times there. Many settled from them, during the spanish persecution of jews in europe. The muslim gave them always refuge. And in place of saying thank you, they stole them their land. You cant found a jewish state on soil which its majority is not jewish.

"There was never a majority of jews living in that country". There was a sovereign Jewish state (Judea) in what is today Israel and the West Bank hundreds of years before Islam was invented.

In the words of the late military commander of the PLO as well as member of the PLO Executive Council, Zuhair Muhsin: - There are no differences between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. We are all part of one nation. It is only for political reasons that we carefully underline our Palestinian identity....yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity serves only tactical purposes. The founding of a Palestinian state is a new tool in the continuing battle against Israel.

The gulf countries and muslim countries are not taking any refugees. The muslim refugees would be happy in muslim countries...but muslim countries don't want them. The funny thing is that muslim refugees will do anything, even die trying, to get to Europe and Western countries. Why??

From the many newspapers which reported from Palestine and from the neighboring countries at the time of the 1948 war, not even the most anti zionist one ever mentioned the arabs were forced out , though all of them reported about them fleeing in panic.And not even one arab leader speaking at the UN General Assembly ever asked it to protect the arabs from being cleansed.Only years later, ashamed and frustrated for being defeated by a handful of ill armed jews, the arabs invented the fairy tale of ethnical cleansing.
@polkatango
@polkatango 10 жыл бұрын
The fact is that many arabs who were smart and didn't flee knowing the jews aren't murderers like the arabs, 1.4 million now, are israeli citizens with full rights, and grateful for their freedom and standard of living which is far higher than that of the arabs in all neighboring countries, 50% of them are voting for the jewish zionist parties in free and democratic elections, though there are 3 arab anti zionist parties represented in the israeli parliament. The truth is that only the jews were ethnically cleansed from Palestine, not the arabs! At the end of the war not even one jew was left in the territory of Palestine occupied by Egypt and Jordan , i.e. in Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem. Those who didn't succeed to evacuate themselves were murdered till the last one!

Don’t you think that the Arabs could, with equal justification, demand Spain for themselves - for, after all, they held sway in Spain for nearly seven hundred years and lost it entirely only five hundred years ago?”
@ulrichgerhardosterloh6069
@ulrichgerhardosterloh6069 2 ай бұрын
Well they stole it from the Spanish for 700 years, and the Spanish never stopped fighting to get the Arab invasion out of the originally Spanish country... And in Israel, the modern Palestinians were also mainly Arabs who moved there a few hundred years ago, so Jews have the much older rights with many sacred Jewish sites and graves in Israel that are thousands of years old. But even still, Israel generously shares the tiny country (size of New Jersey) with 2 million Palestinians who are full Israeli citizens many of them with successful careers from politics to entertainment, law and business. So Israel is actually a dream country for those Palestinians who didn't fight Israel but joined Israel and of course still retain their Arab identity

I always enjoy Danny Ayalon's videos, he's so precise in his explanations. This one is a real eye-opener. The Arab world wants to leave the Palestinian camps as an open sore to insight hatred against Israel. So true. Can you imagine what Israel would look like if they were forced by the UN to open up that 'border'? 4 million Palestinians would flood into Israel and totally decimate her. This can't happen. Long live Israel. Prayers are with you from Canada and all my love. '

the Jews got permission to reconstitute the Jewish state at the Paris Peace Conference pleading (Feb 27, 1919) thier pleading was to have the right to reconstitute what was once theirs. The Arabs for to creat (ex nihilo) an Arab states (Syria and Iraq) based on their pleading on February 6, 1919. The Arabs pleaded that the Arabs were a homogenous people (aka no such thing as a Palestinian) Based on the pleadings, the Arabs got what is today Syria and Iraq, the Jews what is Israel and Jordan. These territories were to be temporarily administer by a Mandate system to transfer the land to the beneficiaries (in "Palestine" or Holy Land, that was the jews worldwide.) Arabs protested saying "From Turkey to Gaza Palestine does not exist" and they protested that they were part of Syria and that Palestine was foreign to them. As for the people... there never was a Palestinian people. The Arabs are foreign and only immigrated to the land between 1904 and 1947. The land was pretty much empty after the Mamluk persecutions.
@ulrichgerhardosterloh6069

So all these Arab countries expel something like 850,000 Jews but Jews are not allowed to settle in a tiny piece of land, which Israel is (the size of New Jersey) while "Palestinians had lots of countries to resettle in, like Jordan, Syria, Egypt etc? In fact, they even had a choice to become Israeli citizens and nowadays there are 2 million Palestinians who are in fact happy Israeli citizens, many of them living successful lives in business, politics entertainment, the legal system etc etc while their relatives in Gaza and the West bank live poor, parasitic lives depending on Western money and are doninated by crazy religious Hamas and even want to turn the whole of Israel into such a shitty country... Please also keep in mind that the Jews really have the older rights in that region, there are scared Jewish sites and graves there that are thousands of years old, while the modern Palestinians are basically Arabs who moved there a few hundred years ago, so tiny Israel (and it's not like the Arab world lost a lot of land) was exactly the right place for Jews to build a small country after the expulsions from Arab countries and the killings in Nazi Germany... Jews only have this tiny piece of land but even generously share it with 2 million arabs, Arabs have many countries to move to to feel at home, have the same language, food etc... Maybe it's time to see things in relation.
@1czechit1
@1czechit1 2 ай бұрын
@@ulrichgerhardosterloh6069 not just older rights. The Jews have sovereignty by international law going back to the end of the Ottoman Empire. In particular article 95 of the Treaty of Sevres, which comes from the League of Nations Covenant and later UN Charter.

All very true, however just by exploring the reasons why the people that have been kicked out of Palestine haven't been accepted and reintegrated fully into other countries, takes the spotlight away from the actual issue of kicking people out of Palestine in the first place. these are justifiable explanations, however, they are not the problem.

So when the UN created Israel , the Jews there said to the indigenous Arabs there: “ Sure, you can stay here: we are not driving you out”. Is this what you are saying Danny Ayalon? When I lived on Kibbutz Jasur as a “visitor-student” between September 1966 and February 1967, there was next door an Israeli Arab settlement. A Moshad , I think you call it. There were separate buses, as I recall,one, linking Acre to Kibbutz Jasur ( for Jews, and me ) and another route number from Acre to this moshad next door (for Arabs). Although it wouldn’t be true to say that the separate buses were like in Apartheid South Africa. It is probably just a pragmatic work-out of bus routes. Does the following account of a part of my personal life have parallels with what you have just said Danny Ayalon: in 1992 I went from the UK to Russia , to one Nadya in Kislovodsk , with intent to settle and farm there. However , Nadya wanted to emigrate to the UK , and , to cut a story short, I ended up back in the UK with her, by now my wife. Eight years went by with me repeatedly saying to her: when will you help me to emigrate to Russia as you promised in 1992? In 2000 my uncle left me about ten grand , my wife said : give me the ten grand and you can have my two flats in Kislovodsk. I replied : let’s go to Kislovodsk then together, hand me over your flats legally and I will then give you the ten grand. But she refused , saying trust me, hand me over the money now and the flats will be as good as yours. I then compromised: I put the money in a Building Society Savings Book in her name but kept the Book myself, saying that I would hand it over to her in Kislovodsk once she’d transferred the property of the flats to me. Nadya and I were living separately in Birmingham then , about a mile from each other. She would come in nearly every day and cook for me though. So far the analogy I am drawing is of a state of agreement reached: I had a perspective of finally settling in Russia and she had one of an extra ten grand to her mortgaged house in Birmingham. An analogy to the UN voting for the establishment of the state of Israel. But one day while I was sleeping in my Birmingham flat, she came in ( I let her have keys) one early morning and stole the Building Society Book from under my pillow. The analogy to that ? Will you write to her please, (address supplied via this conversation continuum) and ask her if even now, I can get my part of the deal?

The land was purchased. Between 1880 and 1900, Jews purchased land from the landowners in the Ottoman Empire. However, when the workers were told to get out, all they saw were a bunch of Jews taking their land. The area that is now Tel Aviv was a pile of sand that was purchased. Now it's a thriving city.

The project “deals with a fundamental question of how Israeli military bases could be reused, recycled or reorientated by Palestinians after the moment that the military power discharges it,” as co-founder Alessandro Petti explained to The Electronic Intifada in 2010.

All HaGeulah Veal HaTemurah This book, whose title means "the redemption and the exchange ', discusses the wars of Israel. It is also written by the Satmar Rov sister book Vayoel Moshe. Where Vayoel Moshe a very technical book that gives many references to older halachic texts, treats all HaGeulah Veal HaTemurah (Hebrew: על הגאולה ועל התמורה) more earthy background of all these things, like the point that Zionism as a threat to Jews throughout the world is seen

"Taking note" and agreeing are two totally different things, i.e., objection dully noted! The act of noting the objection did not in any change the fact that the two previous resolutions were recalled and were expected to be implemented as part of Israels obligation under the charter...to abide by UN resolutions. Agreements forged outside of the UN would obviously not include resolutions undertaken in the UN. That's why they are not mentioned in any of the subsequent agreements.

Another point where the Satmar Rebbe taught his followers that according to him the duty of every Jew is to fight against Zionism. This struggle is not only for the rabbis to perform, but for everyone, young and old.

i agree with the explanation of the video clip.... can you try to translate or give the subtitles in my own language ? Bahasa Indonesia. This is much awaited information for Indonesians to support justice and democracy and humanitarian treatment for both the jews and the arabs as well, there must be no different.

You miss the most basic aspect of his comment. That both the European Jews and the Arab-"Palestinians" are immigrants in that place. But even Islamic scholars such as Ibn Khaldun and Muqaddasi claim in their writing that Jerusalem and "Palestine" were Jewish places, populated mostly by Jews.

3,000 - 2,000 B.C.) CANAAN IN THE EARLY BRONZE AGE: There is written documentation of the existence in what was then called Canaan of a great urban civilization. The Canaanites shared a cultural tradition derived from Mesopotamia and the civilization identified with the city of Ebla, in northern Syria. The Canaanites controlled Palestine west of the Jordan River and parts of Phoenicia (coastal Lebanon) and southern Syria. During this period, the Canaanites acquired the use of iron and the practice of alphabetic writing. Their alphabet was in fact transmitted to Greece and became the basis of Western writing systems.

Res 242 doesn't require from Israel to evacuate all the territories, it even states that Israel is entitled to secure borders, which practically means it is entitled to annex part of West Bank.Israel has always been ready to do it by negotiations with the so called palestinians, but as they constantly refuse to negotiate under all kind of pretexts, it is forced to unilaterally decide what to annex and of course to build there.The more the palestinians refuse, the more they lose...

your map in 0:31 is wrong, in May 1948, there should be a 55% to 45% split, not a 78% to 22% split shown here. Wrong information being used at the start. What lies about the refugees, the Jewish communities at least they had a national home to go to, the Palestinian refugees don't have a home, they were forced out of the homeland. Plus for the UN there a is resolution called for the refugees to return their homes within the British mandate of Palestine.

Yes. There were originally about 711,000 "Palestinian" refugees and about 850,000 Jewish refugees from Arab states in 1948, about 600,000 of whom settled in Israel. However, up until 1972, about 400,000 more Jews were deported from Arab states of the ME, mostly to Israel. That's why about 60% of Israeli Jews today are from eastern origins, unlike the global Jewish population which is 80% Ashkenazim.

But the MOST pressing thing is WHY should Jordan or ANY of the countries with refugee camps by responsible for people that ISRAEL drove out? Jews can come back after thousands of years but refugees couldn't come back after a few months? As I mentioned, it is NOT just about refugees returning to Israel, but they can not come to Palestine. Refugees fall under UNRWA because it was created BEFORE UNHCR (1951 2yrs after). Mr. Ayalon is being deceitful in implying the UNRWA was created DESPITE UNHCR.
