I know a guy that chooses to be homeless, he has a nice set up. He has a pup tent that’s off the ground hidden in the woods. He has a car and a job, he refuses to pay high rent.

I'm also one of those people that refuses to pay high rent. It takes time out of your life to go to work to sell your labor to get money to pay these high prices and I'm just not willing to do it.

The labor markets are not helping the situation. Submitting a resume with the applicant tracking systems is eliminating at least three fourth of potential candidates. We really need to start reforming communities that look out for your brother. The amish/mennonite community will take care of you if you get sick, need a job and are really able to take care of themselves without outside intervention, that’s a good model to start from. We were once like this but became dependent on government and corporations for our needs.

Personally, I have been living in my Toyota Prius for 8 years. My level of internal happiness, inner peace and satisfaction has increased tremendously since I started living this way. In my opinion, a man with no bills is a rich man in positive mental health. There are a lot of mental health issues that arise from struggling to pay for conventional housing.

I was injured in a hit and run car accident. I was stopped at a red light, a safe distance from the car in front of me and a giant SUV rammed me going 50 mph. Didn’t have health insurance. Had the hardest time getting to a doctor. I gave up and have no idea if my pain will ever go away or will be with me for life. By the grace of God I was able to ironically drive for DoorDash to “survive” because I can no longer work my usual on the feet customer service jobs. I was on the verge of losing my apartment and ending up homeless because the cops did NOTHING to help me and the system treats me like a criminal for not being able to afford healthcare because full coverage car insurance is astronomically expensive. This situation made me so much more empathetic to the homeless because your life can change in the blink of an eye due to other people’s actions.

I thought car insurance paid out for medical payments? If it was an accident then it’s filed under auto accident. If you didn’t have uninsured motorist than maybe the health insurance would be responsible for coverage. If you ever have auto coverage, uninsured motorist is an absolute necessity. This is even more important if people living out their cars because they in it more than normal. Hope your situation gets better

Me too, I have a house, but I don’t have anyone to split costs with, so it’s extra difficult here, I’m living waaay below my means, and basically it has rendered me home bound. I can afford my bills each month, But I barely just squeak by and survive. At this point The only way I’m able to keep my house is if I don’t go anywhere or do anything. Vacations or any trips anywhere are not a part of my life anymore. That’s how I’ve been able to make it over the past few years. And I think that’s the key most people don’t catch onto, do what you can to cut costs any way possible if you wanna make it.. In the meantime, A good size garden and some backyard chickens has helped me stay afloat on the food end of things. I highly recommend people do what they can to produce their own food, if they can, that’s an important one.

Damn. It seems like no one got family members to live with and just pay rent for a room at a family member's house. I wonder did any of u people ever grow up close with any family members to where if u work a decent job u can live with any of them during hard times? Especially if u can help out on some bills. Makes me thank God me and my father, mother, brother, 2 sisters, aunts, uncles, & cousins all look out for each other. In my family as long as u work a full-time job someone will open up their door for u during hard times and vice versa. Many homeless people are in the position they are in because they got no close family to turn to or they got way too much pride to ask for help from family and friends. People better swallow their damn pride. Shit........it's too hot in summer and too cold in the winter and too wet in the rain to be homeless. That will NEVER be a choice for me. If I ever end up homeless it is literally because I got no where to go and no family to turn to. I would never make the stupid choice of choosing homelessness to save money. I can save money while still living in a room for rent at a family members house. Even if I had to go out of state just to have a place to stay with a family member or close friend that shit still beats being homeless. This is why have a strong bond with multiple family members really pays off especially in rough times.

I have seen a few yt videos on homes that are derelict and selling for $1 in areas with a declining population,it would be great if a few homeless folks who are not addicted or mentally ill with skills like plumbing, electrical skills, carpentry etc could pull resources to build one home at a time together with their combined skills to compleat one home for one of the group then move on to the next home to build ,but there has to be a contract that who ever gets the home must still be part of the other builds for the others,no selling of new home with out the group getting their share of the sale, but the whole project would be pointless if that happened ,so trust and commitment must be paramount.

There’s a great book (textbook style, not an entertainment read, unless you’re a geek like me) entitled “Living Downtown, the history of residential hotels in the US” by Paul Groth, and it goes into how before the big urban renewal pushes of the past however many decades, there was a pretty adequate supply of cheap, clean, efficient housing in the way of weekly hotels in cities. They’re sometimes called bachelor hotels, SROs (in California) or single room occupancy units, and they were in the more run down neighborhoods by downtown, and people lived in them as they would an apartment. There was no kitchen- often there was a communal kitchen which either the residents could use, or in cases the hotel would have staff who made meals. Often there were several bathrooms and showers on each floor for the rooms on each level, as most units didn’t have their own bathroom, either, but rather had a bathroom sink area in the rooms. Some larger rooms may have their own bathrooms, but largely not. Each floor had its own trash room where residents brought their trash to be taken out, and some buildings may have a light maid service weekly to change the sheets, take out the trash, etc. There was a front desk which managed the building, received and held mail for residents to pick up, and controlled whom was coming into and out of the premises. This was very efficient/no frills living, but it was a reliable place for people on the lowest rungs of the socioeconomic ladder to live, and people did live in such places for years, and as such, buildings often had a pretty tight community of neighbors who looked out for each other and provided friendship, etc. Once urban renewal efforts started, these buildings and the neighborhoods they were in were the first targets for being bought, torn down, and a myriad other projects put in their place, be it big convention centers, parks, parking structures, etc. Residents who once could rely on housing being available for their level of means now had fewer and fewer options, and the remaining buildings could raise their rates since they were more in demand as supply decreased. It’s a direct correlation between urban homelessness becoming visible in the 1980s and these renewal efforts changing the housing landscape in cities. We certainly need more of that kind of housing, BUT there’s almost no housing being created for people with low incomes or even average incomes- it’s all luxury housing coming into the market, so builders can capture the highest payout for what they’ve built, and playing devil’s advocate, one can understand their standpoint, since building or developing anything in many big cities has become so mired down with costs from fees, applications, studies, taxes, etc… so they go into the role of building and developing with the mindset that the ONLY thing worth building is high end, luxury housing. Without the serious prioritization of housing for low and average income people, I don’t see any improvement in the situation coming anywhere on the horizon.

I am building my residential home in my home country to live happily ever after. There's no such things as mortgage and property taxes and mandatory insurances ever. You get water source from ground water borehole which is connected to the home and supplies water plus solar system and you've no single bill the rest of your life other internet-wifi and phone bills. Thats how i want to spend my retirement in peace. I am doing this from my US home equity. My country isn't developed as American but people are happy, living with natural and simple life.

20:03 i’m a builder and have dealt with major storms such as Sandy and hurricane Irene. I’m very familiar with dealing with homeowners insurance companies and it’s a scam. What will happen in time if you do need to claim your home they say they can’t fully pay you due to depreciation. Are you going to need to shop other homeowners insurance companies, or call your existing company and find out their policies on depreciation of for example, roofing windows, doors, and anything with your foundation If it’s not in writing, it was never said any information to give you is put on Company letterhead in official writing

Please try your best to stay stable because you can't run nor hide or think a vehicle or fabric will be the answer to your security. Watch what you spend money on. You are much stronger than what you think. If you go to cramping and camping you will never be stable. Nice to see you on Anthony.

Try every shelter in and church in your area. I mean every day call all of them until they help you. You have to be very persistent.

Looking at homes in CT, the median home price is 400k, Even the condos a 2 bed 1 bad is 200k. For three hours outside the city. Thats not even including HOA fees insurance..its crazy. I make six figure but i want to be able to afford health insurance and food. At this point alaska is the literal final frontier. I never though j would consider moving their but now its an option. Land purchasing then contructing a home is far cheaper than purchasing in the lower 48.

We can't as minorities or whatever you want to call it put the blame on society it seems like the people that score higher on the homelessness do less education and spend less time trying to educate themselves and stay up to date to stay out of financial trouble The information is out here today and is out here for free but we are just not taking the time to look at it such as an example your channel is a great resource on an educational level and it also keeps up a personal spirits but how many people are watching your channel not as many that should be thanks again for your content I really enjoy it
