There's a filter that makes the legs look longer. But these fashion districts are usually in Shanghai or northern china, where people are much taller than in the south. It's actually very common to find women around 5ft7 and men above 6ft. Since china is around the same size as Europe, the northerners are tall, slim and fair skinned. The people in the south have darker skin, stronger facial features and are generally shorter. Kinda like in Europe. An Italian man vs a Norwegian. Thing is, the southerns have a maritime culture, which means most foreign Chinese immigrants are southerners. Most western people haven't seen many northerners before, unless they go over to northern china.

No not really... The bar for dressing is way higher. There's an expectation to be well dressed, and like Rodeo Drive in LA, unless you're well dressed, the store employees / attendants will ignore you (literally providing zero help) bc you're deemed senseless / not worth their time. Also in these kinds of boutiques, they usually put one display item out and you're required to get an attendant for help if you want to buy or try on anything, if they ignore you, then you don't get help. You gotta look the part to be treated the part. People want a place they can go to as an occasion to dress outlandish or even extreme that wouldn't be welcomed in most circumstances. It's like if someone were to wear clubbing or skimpier attire during the day, it's not appreciated unless it's in that specific instance. Also, no one dresses up in crazy fashion with expectations to be photographed in harujuku Japan, they just all want to dress up and hang out with friends with similar mindset, not sure why this wouldn't be the same case outside of everywhere else in the world. People who go to these places also appreciate and put effort into their clothing. A more specific example of this would be chengdu, which is known for the traditional attire. The entire area (even locals across all age groups), dress in traditional attire and they aren't looking to be photographed. It's just the expectation/accepted if you're going to be in that area.

I lived in Shanghai like 10 years ago and went to a lot of events and the best clubs and at the clubs you would see people dressed very nicely. The fashion back then was very different on the streets: a lot of animal print, a lot of lace, very small skirts and shorts but very covered in the upper part, tights with different patterns, in the winter the boots and most of the clothing had fur.

I went to Korea a few weeks back and visited Sinsa dong. It's the hip and trendy area. Most of the visitors I saw dressed very very fashionably with superb make up look are the Chinese tourists. Koreans usually dress similarly to each other, that's my opinion. They have certain standard of what's currently trendy. In autumn, most people will probably dress in autumn colors like beige, brown, with modest look (sweaters, etc). The Chinese ones that I saw, most of them dressed for pictures.

Many are actors on their way to the studios, its not like in the U.S. with everything in one place. The ones wearing period clothes like Hanfu are the actors. They do the walk to help promote the upcoming shows. There are lots of ppl wearing stylish clothing they show up everyday so if you're there you can recognize them. The photographers love it. My brothers took me to watch this because I was hoping to see my favorite C-drama star. I didn't see him.😢😂😂

My assumption is cuz Harajuku is more well known. If you're seeing a video or photo of someone fashionable in Japan someone in the comments has explained Harajuku and Japanese fashion culture. The China equivalents don't really get that experience, I've never once seen a comment on those videos giving background on the area or style, because it's new to the western audience so no one knows yet.

It's actually called "luxury image", that being the idea of luxury that people around the world have about a specific country. For example, France has a high luxury image internationally but not everyone there is rich or eat, drink expensive (so, not just fashion but also way of life). China has that cheap 'stigma' around the world. PS I know it's an old comment, sorry

There are 2 simple answers: nutrition and what the photographers choose to present to you. Children have received better nutrition than the past generations, so the average height of the population increase. Some also take supplements, and genetic is a part of it as well. Secondly, if you pay attention to the people in the background, they are pretty average. Keep in mind that China is so big and has over billions of people. With that size of a population, you can still find people that are taller than average relatively easy. Cosmetics leg-lengthening surgery was banned, so I don’t think any of them would go through that kind of procedure (plus it’s quite risky, and they would have to relearn how to walk all over again. Not to mention the cost of it too.)
@himesilva
@himesilva 2 жыл бұрын
@@BasketedBiscuits True, nutrition can make you taller but you would still have a variation of body types. These ppl are like ALL supermodel skinny, which is a pretty rare body type to have naturally
@BasketedBiscuits
@BasketedBiscuits 2 жыл бұрын
@@himesilva yh rereading it now im not sure what point was I trying to make anymore lol. I was probably sleep deprive but whatever. But you have to keep in mind that Asians are typically skinny and it's pretty much the beauty standard there. As an Asian, this type of body is not as rare as you might think (at least from my observation). If you pay attention to the people in the back ground you'll see other body types as well. The camera person just pick and choose who to present to the media.

These street fashion videos bring me joy! It is quite well known that there are plazas where people dress up, this has been going on for decades. Europe has to level up! I personally dress up whenever I feel like it as this lifts my mood and is an expression of my imagination and self care, externals aren't necessarily superficial, details say a lot about us ans make us more assertive.
