Wilder was permanently defeated when in their first fight he thought his late knockdown of Fury was a win. He started dancing in the ring, then Fury got up. Wilder has never been the same since that moment. His face went from jubilation to panic.

Yup, he got outboxed in the early rounds of that first fight too. So even a couple of 10:8 rounds in his favor because of the 2 rounds with knock downs was only enough to win over one judge and hit a full draw with the 3rd.

The worst thing is, Wilder had no reason to make excuses. He was a warrior in every fight. Out boxed and out classed but still stood there trading. Never once quitting until he got KO’d. No shame in that whatsoever. Brave men are boxers. It hurts when you get clobbered but he never quit. Wish he’d never made excuses because my respect for him would have been entire and not tainted like it is now.

True. You can see the fear in his eyes, especially in the last 2 fights but he never quit and that's admirable. Fury is just the better fighter. He's mowed through every one they've put in front of him. His only downfall will be his age, but that won't be for awhile since a lot of boxers are remaining competitive up until their late 30's and early 40's.
@hansbraun2726
@hansbraun2726 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, his age will be a problem. He's got about 4 or 5 years to stay near his best. If he keeps his mind right. Even heavyweights that have remained competitive into their late 30's and early forties are not at the top of their game. They have adjusted and compensated or they have lost. As will he if he fights the best at those ages. He probably will retire before that. We will find out. He is so fun to watch heavyweight boxing is back.

Even if it was about race Black folks, Latinos, and big White boys like Tyson Fury have always dominated in boxing and other combat sports. I used to wrestle in middle school and high school. I wasn't taking them white boys lightly. These guys are actually punching each other in the face. @@johnbull1568 Cheers Mate, we agree! I'm a Mike Tyson fan too but I would have to say my all time favorite would be Marvelous Marvin Hagler. So sad to hear he passed away a few months ago. I went to see Hagler fight in the Boston Garden back in 81 for his first middleweight title defense. I was fortunate to be a good friend to Pepper Roach at the time as we were in the 82nd ABN Division together. Pepper is the brother of boxing trainer Freddie Roach. Freddie also fought that night in the Garden on the under card. What a night that was for me. Pepper Roach taught me how to box at the Fort Bragg boxing gym and he fought professionally also after he left the army in 82. Enjoy the upcoming fight, we can toast each other and Tyson Fury in victory from afar mate. Cheers, Mike

A truly knowledgable comment. "He doesn't evolve as a fighter." That is it. Point Blank. Period. He's too immature, dumb, with a ring IQ too low to take a truly honest introspective inventory that says: "This is where I'm not good enough and need to improve." While his will is strong. This is EXACTLY what his greatest impediment is.
@ccali327
@ccali327 2 жыл бұрын
@@user-yw8ek4dj5v Yup. The mark of an immature, ignorant manchild is the inability to take a self-inventory and say "I'm wrong" or "I fucked up" or "this is where I'm not good enough and need to improve." With that mentality, he will NEVER get out of being a one-dimensional fighter. It's unfortunate because the physical ability is there. You see it often in guys who change fighters and blame them immediately after a loss or make ridiculous excuses. When you watch Fury and Wilder fight you can see the contrasting mentalities manifested in the skills. Fury is a guy who has dealt with a ton of hardship and has taken the self-inventory and has the humility needed to change and improve. In the ring, it comes out in his much more versatile game.

Something is definitely amiss with Fury's gloves or he has extremely unnaturally flexible wrists the ways those gloves were moving is extremely odd. Do remember they pushed the camera in the locker room out of focus right before he did his ring walk in fight #2. Essentially Wilder's biggest fault is his normally passive counter punching style (he has been thoroughly outboxed by a myriad of boxers while waiting to detonate his right hand bomb. In addition to that fault it is compounded by the fact he spent TOO MUCH time in both fights on the back foot allowing Tyson to walk him down and dictate the tenure of the fight. Fury I'd bet is the only fighter Wilder has fought (maybe in all of the professional ranks) with a longer reach than him. You can't hope to consistently punch a fighter with a longer reach backing away from him. It plays directly to Fury's strength where he can strafe Wilder with shots with Wilder backing away at a safe distance (from Fury) most of any return fire from Wilder will come up short or not have much juice on it because it will be from distance. Wilder MUST take the fight to Fury on the front foot and impose HIS will. He has the most threatening tool (bunker busting right hand bomb) in the arsenal he'd be wise to actually use it. Watch the difference when he presses the action like the last round of the Ortiz fight and early 12th in Fury 1 fight. He can get results when he decides to kick the front door in. A Wilder with a Mike Tyson seek and destroy approach would be a real scary sight for any heavyweight.

You got to remember the first fight they had was almost too close to call and if they hadn't slowed down the count when Fury hit the canvas here we would have lost this load is countdown so he can get back up I don't see much difference in skill level in these two I would say that. Probably has a little more Poise and how he draws people in but the fights are just too close it's not that much more skilled Ben Wilder is you guys need to look at the more technical things that happened during the fights in order to understand that instead of getting emotionally caught up in who you want to win and then you further listen to paid commentary for the drawers and narrative

Really feel like it was just stage fright. To be knocked down by pillow fists after all he's said to be so cocky, he was not prepared for that. That's gotta be something he never expected at ANY POINT in his prep for the fight. His legs just went weak because he was "scared" not scared in the normal sense but scared because he wasn't prepared for that scenario because he never had to be. Just my thoughts. But truly insane to see how Wilder changed over the course of this trilogy.....leading up Fury was supposed to be a good name to add to Wilders resume. And over the course of these fights, Wilder went from being the protagonist to the antagonist of his story. He really carried himself like he was invincible which he was until Fury came along....and shattered his whole image

I think there are two different ways of going about explaining a loss. For some it totally is a defensive mechanism to cope with the loss and believe that they weren't at their best for whatever reason. However on the flip side I have seen fighters or people in general use it not as an excuse for what happened but an explanation and are not seeking consolation but explained the factors that led to that.

@alexanderlocke Do you realize how difficult it is for Wilder, Who has been told by his handlers all of his career how great he is and how invincible he is. They are never going to admit he got beat fair and square not gonna happen. Now if Fury was a black man, then Wilder might have some contrition. Fury was the great white hope that came through. Now if Fury got beat and came up with a bunch of conspiracy theories as to why he got beat, boxing community, The media, fans, everyone would bash him relentlessly. Because Wilder is who he is though it will all simply pass with merely a mention. Sad that a tremendous champion in Fury doesn’t get all the props he deserves because of the color of his skin.
