Makes total sense. And Sinner was a good junior skier, too. Head is kept still during slalom, keeping attention ahead while dancing down the slope, extrapolating all the way down …

While I agree with most of what you said, I think there times were you really have to watch the ball. For instance, if the ball was mishit by your opponent and it has a strange bounce. Or when it's very windy. Or when your opponent uses a lot of spins. Or even when the ball bounce off the line. Or even volleying the ball. I think also lot depends on your stroke. If you going through the ball safely, like say how Joker hits, you don't have to watch the ball carefully. If you are timing the ball with pronation at contact, like say how Fed hits, you do need to watch carefully.

Looking at contact is helping me and I doest ruin my balance. I m going to try extrapolate and see but I think is better to watch the exact contact point especially on winners

I actually totally agree. I think this method is better. But I wanted to share information on the alternative, as so many pro players don't watch with this technique. Glad your enjoying the channel Please let me know how it goes? www.oneminutetennis.com

Itd better for recreational player to watch the ball and keep holding balance from the foot amdcore of body .of course we are not djokovic to predict very easy the ball,so its better to get used to watch the ball normally, not thoroughly , but generally speaking we need to watch the trajectory of ball for smoothly hitting

I disagree with your description of how Federer and Nadal watch the ball and how the other players watch the ball. There are 2 ways of watching the ball. 1) What pathway: You can focus on the ball and as it's coming towards you, you will refocus. Refocusing takes roughly 250 milli-secs. The players that are not focusing on the ball at contact actually have their eyes focused on the last refocusing before contact. Hence as you say extrapolation. 2) Where pathway: You can focus on where you think the ball is going to be. This is what these guys are doing. The ball coming towards them is out of focus and as it enters their focus zone it gets into focus. The difference between the 2 is that in one the ball is in focus and moves out of focus and then you refocus, etc until just before you hit. In the other the ball is out of focus and stays out of focus until it enters your anticipated zone of focus. Both methods work but in general in every day life we predominantly use method 1 and tend to use it for tennis naturally. The Where pathway processes the info about the ball faster because it doesn't need to process all the What information about the ball until it gets up close and personal. Federer and Nadal where probably taught method 2 as kids. Imagine if Djoko had been taught method 2 as a kid in addition to the other things he was taught. Check out Scott Ford from Arete-sports.com for more info on this technique.
