ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If it's a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you hit your driver straight. If you are a beginner golfer and are looking for some golf driver tips that are simple and easy to do then you are going to love this.
I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.
We look at 3 things:
1. How to stop slicing your driver
2. How to swing more in to out or how to swing more inside out
3, How to get the correct impact position with driver

I’ve seen this move before but never fully understood it, nobody has explained it as clear as you have. I can already feel the difference with this release of bringing the butt of the club in and body not leaning forward. I was watching Jake knapps swing earlier and I’m sure you’ve just taught us what he does? Thanks Danny.

Hi Danny, thank you for your videos on ‘swinging it slower’ and about the ‘importance of the hands’. They’re truly excellent in my opinion, dealing with the mechanics and motions required in a simple and logical way. Keeping the club outside the hands going back and bracing a little through impact are key things that I needed clarified and explained. Thank you.

Brilliant lesson, Danny. Swinging over the top is so destructive. Paul is just like me. You summarised all my key faults in a few minutes. I have been working on shallowing the club for months. Recently, my coach and I found thinking of my hand path, worked best, along with keeping the shoulders closed and dropping the hands. I like the tip on the butt and elbow direction. I need to add your last tip to give me a catapult. Thank you.👍

This tip added 25-50 yards to my drives. I was spinning my right arm down like Pete Cowan showed you but never knew how to complete the swing to get that power. I tried some at first that squirted out to the right but I added the drill of driving the butt of the club to the front before every shot so I could get the feel. This was critical, it turns out. I was able to hit 10 beautifully straight and long drives before the rain and sleet forced to make a run for it. Thanks so much Danny. The difference in power and consistency is incredible!

I’m a very high handicap golfer. Still pretty new. I’ve been in a slump with my irons and wedges. Most Inconsistent ball striking I’ve had since I started. After watching this video I really focused on this video trying to incorporate swinging in a circular plane and creating a little bit of the lag. I struck balls better then I ever have across my entire bag today and significantly reduced my slice. And was even able to hit some intentional draws with my hybrids. Thank you Danny!! I played today and shot an 89…completely missed out the 90’s!! It was a total lightbulb moment and it all clicked into place. It was unbelievable, the ball was going further and straighter than ever. Grerat lesson on getting through our shot. I only wished I watched this yesterday before I visited the course. Now I'll have to remember until next week when the weather allows us to get out again. Look forward to trying this with air swings in my basement. Thanks as always.

I have an unconventional swing stye base around Hogan’s ‘waggle’ wrist action which I realized he used to add acceleration and added striking force to the club head and more importantly change the way the compressed ball releases off the face. It started by practicing the waggle and really snapping down my wrists like I was using the golf club like a hammer to ‘toenail’ a stud wall or an axe when ‘bucking’ a log - cutting a horizontal log in half with a V with opposite 45° strikes. I realized three things by observation and inituition: 1) just the hand action can generate HUGE amount of acceleration in the club head; 2) the angle of the toe and face changes 90° very fast, and 3) if you waggle down to the point the arms are pulled straight and the wrists in a Vardon grip lock up the leverage created by the grip is so strong it stops the club dead and the ball releases MUCH FASTER hand from a club that is moving and still accelerating! Conventional wisdom is to keep the club head accelerating past impact but I realized due of whacky laws of physics a compressed golf ball will actually decompress off the face AT A HIGHER RATE OF RESTITUTION if the club head is slowed down or stopped completely, which the Vardon grip will do if both hands are maxed out in ulnar deviation. This happens in a conventional swing in the finish when club force is allowed to pull both arms and wrists straight it that point in the conventional swing the wrists lose their leverage because EXTENSION and FLEXION are also pulled out of the wrists allowing the force acting on the club head mass attached at the heel the club to snap the face closed rolling over the hands. Golfers learn to ‘hold off’ that flipping of the toe when trying to hit fade by keeping extension in the trail wrist. What I realized Hogan was doing through impact by rolling his front wrist into maxed out flexion and also keeping some extension in the trail wrist was locking up the hands and club face straight to the target evert time by snapping the club head down at the ball with ‘waggle action’ just before impact. Once you experience the hands locking up when waggling you can see it happening in freeze frame videos of his swings. I realized the same cause and effect of locking up the hands with the grip to square face and SLOW the club head for better release of the compressed ball was something that happened automatically in Moe Norman’s swing because of the way his gripped the club at address with arms straight and both hands in unlar deviation. They came back to the same orientation every time with face point to target and slowing down as the ball released off the face. When I added the same waggle/lock action to my formerly conventional sweep and accelerate through the ball in my late 50s I added 50 yards to my drives effortless and my iron shots had more spin loft and green stopping backspin than I had ever experienced. What I discovered were key elements of the technique, also by analyzing the swings of Hogan and Norman frame by frame watching every part of their body was: 1) the timing of lifting the foot which plays a key role in slowing down the hands to release the ball, and; 2) side-bending to steer the path of the waggling club down the target line FROM THE INSIDE with a tightly tucked in trail arm. Those two things are necessary to slow down the hands enough to to give the club head time to completely whip down and get locked face square by the Vardon grip+ulnar deviation + flexion / extension in at least one hand. As the club shafts get longer it take much more time for them to rotate around the the hands so the hands must be dropped down vertically further and further back relative to the back hip in the downswing before the club head starts around the wrist. That is exactly why Hogan opened stance for wedges and short irons and closed it for longer irons from a baseline of parallel stance with 7 iron with ball always just behind lead foot-to allow more distance and time for the longer clubs to ‘waggle’ down around the hands. It take a good bit of practice to perfect and requires a great deal of focus to execute but the difference it makes is amazing and why at age 72 I’m able to compress and release the ball enough to hit shots with 20+ yards of fade and draw on them when the angle of the green relative to fairway and pin placement made that a better strategy for keeping ball on green and rolling it towards the hole than a short-sided straight shot and it makes the silly game a lot more fun 😊
