Imagine if I told you that you could gain 20 accurate yards with a golf swing shorter than your current one...Well in this week's golf lesson you are going to see how Danny Maude is adding 20, 30, 40 and sometimes 50 yards to golfers in a single session with a super short backswing.
At the start of the video he shows you the two key things you need to know to improve your contact whether that be with your iron swing or driver swing. As he says "there's no point trying to gain distance if you haven't first got a consistent strike"
Once you have the strike you will have already gained some yards but then it gets interesting. To get you to hit the ball longer Danny gets you to do it with NO Backswing. The results are crazy. Check it out here 👇

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZfaq and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If it's a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Good lesson on the importance of getting a good rhythm in place. Been working on the shortened swing of late and this video ties in perfectly to that drill process. Been doing something similar but including an alignment rod to help get the club coming from the inside - takeaway over the rod, downswing under the rod.

Already applied some of your lessons to my homemade tarp hanging from pvc pipe, backyard golf range LOL. I can already feel a better connection. I've only played for 2-3 weeks and based off some other video of yours I watched, I was hitting around 100+ at the range, into heavy wind, with a 7 iron. On and off, but it's there. So, I came back! Hopefully it helps on the next visit to the course. I appreciate the amount of effort you put into this channel.

Danny you're so right. My coach did it a bit different, he took me off the fairway into the woods like i hooked my tee shot, put me under a tree and had me punch out towards the green over and over. I couldn't believe how much better the contact and distance was, amazing. We haven't got to lengthening yet, I can't wait to see your follow up on lengthening the backswing. Thank you for posting this!

Excellent video Danny on how you added yardage to your student George's swing! I have been using your suggested method of using the palm of the right hand to add distance to my driver and irons and it does work. Now, after viewing this video, I will up tempo my swing to possibly making my swing more effortless! Well Done Danny!

Great lesson on the fine points of a shorter backswing. I’m 78 and finally gave up on swinging like I used to; it just doesn’t work anymore and it hurts besides. I’m finding that I can make a shorter swing (lead arm parallel to the ground) and hit the ball just as far with a much better quality of strike. Good stuff Danny; well done. 👍

Danny, This was a GREAT LESSON! I was at the driving range today working on improving my striking of the irons or compressing the ball. I hit some good ones, but was not consistent enough. I sat down on a bench at the back of the range and watch this video on my phone and experienced an AHA moment that I wanted to share with you and your subscribers. The drills you were teaching to your student George were the key. Focusing on pushing the HEEl of the hand down, but the most important tip was "hitting down and through (or around)"! But the key was connecting the right elbow in and using the right side of the body to push the heel down and through! I could not believe the compression that I was achieving first, but more importantly, the consistency of the strike. I found myself not having to use my arms, but more emphasis on using the right side of the body "to push down and through!" I went back and viewed your video titled "World's #1Coach Shares Right Arm Secrets with Me..." which I have watched many, many times and just could not understand how to turn the club face down on the ball with the forearm rotation. Well, the drills you gave your student George, made me understand it and IT WORKS! I used it with every one of my irons and it was magical and effortless! The feeling of compressing the ball is addicting. Use that right side of the body to push down and through the impact area!

It's all about the quality of the actual contact. Tips to "hit the ball farther" presuppose you're even making proper contact with the ball. Half my range time is spent hitting half or "3/4" swing punch 6 or 7 irons where i tell myself "I'm only trying to hit this 150 yards." It's amazing how often I look up and see I've it it 185.

Well Danny, you just made the perfect video for me to show my range buddies EXACTLY what I’ve been trying to describe to them!!! You definitely explain it better than I do, lol. This is an extremely valuable drill and after finding this method myself through experimenting, in my opinion this is actually where the beginning of learning a mechanically correct full swing should start. Seriously. Golf Range Genius #1: “What kind of help is smashing a bucket of balls with those little snaps gonna do? You have to feel the whole swing.” 🤦‍♂️ Me: “No Einstein, you can break the swing into it’s parts and transitions like a jigsaw puzzle for your muscle memory and put them all together. I’m learning how to make the most pressure into the ball at the bottom and through the release.” What I was doing is exactly what you’re describing here and the difference it makes in both the feeling of pressure into the ball and the results in added yardage is miraculous. My big issue was always not realizing I was stopping my rotation which forced me to intentionally release the club too early. After doing a bit of feeling around with some short “bottom of the downswing” experimenting I landed on practicing exactly what you are doing here. This is one of those practice drills that really helps you find those energy and efficiency deficits that are missing in your current swing in a very big way. But you really need to bring this in by hitting A LOT of balls without succumbing to the temptation of going into a full swing to see if it’s helping. You can only slowly add a little bit of length at a time to allow your muscle memory to guide its way into that most effective pressure move consistently. If you go for the big swing after only a few tries, you will definitely not enter that point in the downswing correctly and lose the effect. This needs to be drilled in and slowly “built in to a longer swing” if that makes sense. Figuring the motion that delivers the most powerful strike at this segment of the swing really gives you a feel for the dynamic variability of techniques that not only gives you more power in the strike, it also gives you a better sense of where your club face is and what it’s actually doing instead of just wielding that thing around hoping for a solid strike. This is really a terrific drill. Important actually and extremely productive.⛳️😎⛳️

Hi Danny your videos are the best out in KZfaq land. I practice your tips everyday. I feel the video on releasing the club was a worth it's weight in gold. After slowing my swing down so I can feel when I was releasing the club I realised my release was way to early so many high handicappers must be the same. It makes it nearly impossible to hit the ball with a downward strike. If I feel my hands pass the ball before release my trail side engages automatically resulting in a downward strike on the ball. It's a proper eureka moment. If I change the ball position for a driver but use the same release then my swing arc will hit the ball on the up. It's the final piece of the puzzle for me.. ❤

7:52 this part has turned out to be the key for me. I’ve been messing with this trail hand feeling since Danny posted the Cowen video a couple months back and just couldn’t feel it until this part. Awesome Danny! This really helped! I’m struggling to do this at speed right now. 9 o’clock punch shots get me to about 80% of my average distance, but once I go to a full swing, I’m starting to cut across the ball and accuracy is lost just like George at 5:07 . I’m so used to swinging with my arms for speed. Just need to train myself to use the ground to generate some more force for that added speed.

I have never felt good about my irons. I hit my driver about 200 yds and fairway woods very well. My pitching wedge was only used under 50 yds and 4 iron for low punches out from under trees. I watched this video on Friday, hit a few sponge balls in my yard and went to the driving range on Saturday. Almost right from the start, off the grass, I was landing my pitching wedge within a few yards of the 100 yard marker and then the big test was the 4 iron. First hit was 150 yrds and a few swings later was landing the ball very close to the 150 marker. Oh, by the way, I am 75 years old and can't wait to play on Monday. Thank you so much.

HI Danny. Great, simplistic video mate. I'm off 28 and this is the shot i'm trying to achieve consistently.Too many swing thoughts in my head at the moment. I'm driving about 170, so 2 of these 130 yard shots off the faiway on par 4s and 5s is my ultimate aim and what i need to get me closer to the green and hopefully reduce my scores..This video could be the holy grail for me, if i can do it.... what would be the main swing thought in this swing ?

Sir Danny, as always love your content! Thank you for sharing this drill! It made a huge improvement with my ball striking and I’m hitting the ball further even with a three quarter swing throughout my bag!

Great lesson Danny! I'm find with this Notion of firing and turn the trail side down that I'm then coming over the top and fading / slicing, would it be possible to do a video on a way of stop the trail shoulder moving out on the downswing?

Hi Danny, good lesson, I am a left hand dominant, right handed golfer. Picked up on your comments in this lesson differentiating the role of the lead arm and trail arm in strike - do you have more to share on this ?

A long time ago Peter Alliss did a series on tv with new golfers and one lesson comes to mind where he got a lady golfer who had never hit a ball other than a park putting green by getting her to put with a 7 iron gradually increasing the length of stroke. Your lesson today reminds of a time when injury reduced my swing so I'm going to try this on Monday and report back😊
