Back in the 90's everyone saw the Tyco Rebound commercial, but were you luck enough to have one? Today I get one from eBay, and then figure out a way to fire it up! This was the coolest toy grade RC car around back in 1995.

Here’s the cheap imitation I robbed the circuit board from amzn.to/2G2k9EA
In the video we get it working with 2000mah NiMh batteries, which keep it running for about 40 minutes. I've since put a 7.4v LiPo in it, and it runs a lot faster. Either way, this thing is exactly like the commercial!

It's crazy how I came upon this video and cried like a baby. My little brother took his own life 2 years this June. We had so much fun as kids and I was trying to recall our favorite remote control cars our dad ever got us. It took me forever to even come close to the name of the r.c This video brought back so many memories and I can't wait to buy one now and do the same thing as you and up the capacity with a compatible PCB board or battery. Thank you for this video. It means so much to me.

Being a child of the 90's I was lucky enough to have one of these. I have to say it was amazing. On a full charge they are an absolute blast and you can make it do flips on a flat surface just by going flat out forward and then jabbing it in to reverse as hard as you can. If you did this at the top of a step, it crated an awesome flip. On a full charge, driven like a 10 year old would, I think i only got 20 to 30 minutes max, but i can't be 100% certain. Thanks for bringing back many great memories Seth.

We had a few as a kid, 20 minutes about for battery but when Seth said they are hard to break or indestructible, I laughed. We definitely all broke our plastic bodies going off ramps and landing on hard stuff. Was a blast.

@@Justnothankyou132 Yeah, I actually manage to break a gear inside by running into curb at a weird angle. Far from indestructible. Luckily I had a neighbor who was into building RC cars from scratch and he not only fixed the broken gear but also added epoxy to the gears for all the other wheels to reinforce them.

brother, had this car as a gift from my grandpa at the age of 10-12 I think, and it is still holding up, battery works, everything is just fine. Had so much fun with it in the backyard when we dug up pool, summer house garden was just ran over 24/7 with that. Ohh..what a great time I had. What a great toy for kid. Every kid from neighbrhood wanted to ride it, felt like a king back then rollin on the street with REBOUND :D

I had this 25yrs ago! It was fun hitting tricks in the paved ditch by my house. This was durable. The battery took forever to charge for maybe 3 minutes of flipping fun.... While a smaller buggy I had would go way faster, doing drifts, bigger jumps, or donuts around myself way more fun. Thanks for the video.

I found mine in the attic one year ago. I just bought a 2400mAh rechargeable battery. Works like a charm. Now my 7 and 4 year old kids are playing with it. It's awesome.

I was a 90's kid too and know what you mean! The good-ol' glory days, when family sitcoms were wholesome, music was still good and kids played outside until dark. Currently swapping the batteries in my Super Rebound flexpak pak I played with as a boy so my 4-year-old son can enjoy this piece of 90's nostalgia as much as I did. Ah the 90's.

I have to say thank you! I was lucky enough to have one of these when I was growing up. It’s exactly how you described, endless amounts of stunts and fun. Now I am a father and I am looking to get my kid her first RC car and this was the first thing to come to mind. I am also lucky enough to have a degree in electrical engineering so I will be purchasing a Rebound to fix up and mod to give to my daughter for Christmas. Thank you!

Absolutely had this! I can still remember getting it. I was so hyped! I didn't always get all the cool stuff, but I had this. I remember the battery being about an hr or so? It seemed that the Rebound had longer life than the smaller cars or cheaper trucks, but didn't have anything close to the power and life the big dog RCs had. Love this stuff Seth! Thanks man!

That was my favourite and most memorable rc car from my childhood. I’m 35 now and into rc cars again with my 6 year old son as an excuse! Bought a few ftx models, great value!

I showed the commercial to my son. My younger brother had one. Probably the only time in history that a commercial was completely accurate. This is the greatest RC car I've ever played with. When I first saw your RC car vids, this was actually the first car I thought of.

I had the Tyco SuperRebound, basically the same truck but one side rotated. It was super sick, just as much fun as it is to watch you play. Don't recall the battery time, time worked differently when I was a kid. I was born in 95 so I was a wee lad and had no concept of time. Thanks for making a video of this, this beautiful piece of nostalgia. And, for making it super clear that you can revive it with basically no electrical knowledge, just plop in the controls from a cheap knockoff. Love it.

I had one and it's actually back in the storage room of my house! I lost the battery charger but other than that it should still run as it appears to be in decent condition. If I recall correctly I could only get a good 15-20 minutes off of the full original battery.

Thank you! the sound of the motors, the sounds of it banging off things, its literally like 1995 again :D :D I don't remember how long it lasted back then, for me it felt like forever, and it was 100% un destructible, I even ran it on snow and in rain hahahaha, I cant believe it was 25 years ago, once I go back home, I need to find it, sure its in a box somewhere.. lol, my current Losi Tenacity Lasernut U4 feels like a actual U4 so far from a toy.

I was a kid in the 90s (we actually lived in Mars Hill at the time!) and I have a distinct memory of a neighbor kid showing off his Rebound after Christmas one year. I remember being envious because the RC car that I had was tiny and didn't have any quirky features.

Back in the 90s I had a Ricochet, basically the same thing. I remember the battery life being terrible, like 15 minutes, but man it was a blast.

I had one of these growing up. I remember having a ton of fun with it, and I remember it being just like in your video at 6 volts. I think the battery lasted about 10 minutes? I seem to remember having two batteries for it and they went into an area that unlatches and flips up in the little truck bed.

Grey hair on dudes looks regal and distinguished, and I'm cursed with like, strawberry blonde hair and a grandfather who passed away at 91 with a full head of naturally dark hair.

I loved mine! My dad bought me one and 4 batteries. Come home from school and tear up the back yard. I wanna say the batteries lasted maybe 20 mins each. Hard to remember back then.

RCs suddenly spiked in popularity right around the time lockdown started. So I'm not surprised to see Seth getting into it too. Although NOW I finally understand why KZfaq suggested this channel to me. It certainly wasn't because I was watching a bunch of bike videos beforehand. My biking hobby is almost completely offline, unlike my RC hobby. Meanwhile, your dog is like "FINALLY! One of those horrible wheeled monstrosities that's small enough for me to bite!"

I had one of those. Battery charge time was like 4 hours battery run time was 15ish minutes. Was awesome running it in a gravel parking lot and making wooden ramps.

I had one of these and my brother had a Tyco Vertigo which was a lot like the 2020 R/C you got to restore the Rebound. Both were a blast growing up. I had so much fun with those. My rebound even blew out a capacitor and I remember my dad helping me fix it. So much fun back then. Wish I knew where they were now.

I loved mine in the 90s! It lasted exactly 11 minutes and took 4 hours to charge! One of my first lessons in patience as a child. Now as an adult… forget patience, I ride an Ebike! 🤣
