The Ultimate Falconry Competition

4 жыл бұрынOnce a year in breathtaking Rush Valley, falconers gather for one of the most high caliber competitions in the sport. Only the best falcons and their falconers compete. Pioneered by Gerald Richards in the 1970s; Gerald made it very clear that this event was not falconry but a way for falconers to showcase the prowess of their game-hawks at the end of their falconry season.
This year, long-time Utah falconer Steve Chindgren placed both first and second with his high-flying, hard-hitting Gyr x Peregrine tiercels, Badger and DC. Jon Taylor placed third with a female Gyr x Red-naped Shaheen. Many thanks to the other contestants who provided such an incredible weekend of high-flying falcons.

Hello, Just to add, Ricardo Velarde, a close friend of Gerald Richards, brought the idea to Mexican Falconers and because of that there was in 1988 The First of 5 SKy Trials in México

Great video but as the narrator states this is not falconry but it's something that falconers do.

Joseph King falconry is the pursuit of wild quarry with trained birds of prey. These pigeons are not wild, and are released in an artificial simulation. So the narrator is correct. Thanks for watching!

@@FalconryTold Not meaning to be pedantic falconry is the pursuit of wild quarry with trained Falcons, the perfect description is given by Emperor Frederick || in his treatise on falconry, keep well.

@@josephking1947 not many people have taken the time to read those works. When I started reading it (sponsor said i needed to) i learned so much about birds in general. Every falconer should have a look at it.

@@sayloth To their own loss if they don't, you would need three lives to achieve what that man did, Colonel Thorton Latham and Bert Fisher Blaine and the Royal Loo hawking club are all worth the time to study Latham teaches how to train a falcon to wait on perfectly and the Royal loo demonstrates what can be achieved when Royalty and the ridiculously rich are obsessed by falconry and the high ringing flight ...keep well

They look mostly like Gyr/Peregrines and the odd Peregrine or Prairie Falcon hybrid falcons are cheating and should be banned flown against game nothing beats a pure Peregrine
