You look like you're feeling better! Not that you didn't look beautiful in the last few videos but i mean you got your happiness back and it's showing 💞 Pro-overwaterer tip, if you're plant feels heavy or you know you watered it when you shouldn't have, place it on a scrunched up microfiber cloth, i usually just plop it into the decorative pot and then put my plant in the holey pot on-top. In like an hour you're going to want to check that cloth and likely wring it out and then repeat. It won't underwater your plant but it helps to suck all that water out before the heavy handed watering can cause a rot issue, esp if you've got a tender rooted plant that will toss a fit if you do an emergency repot. I've done this for calathea and my mom's tradescantia and even my string of turtles... My grandma used to use paper towel and it would require a whole roll and be a dripping mess that still left the plants at risk. I use the cheap ugly dollarstore microfiber cloths, about the size of a face cloth, and it works better than any normal towel or paper towel. Also, if you've watered and find your plant isn't grabbing up what's in the saucer, you can literally just put the tip of a microfiber cloth in your saucer (instead of having to lift a big plant) and the cloth will suck up the extra water and you can wring it out and then just hang it to dry for next time, unless you've got pests, then wash it between uses. With big plants and a bad back i need to be able to thoroughly water while also not making a big mess if the tray overflows, this has been a gamechanger and has allowed me to have the fiddle and the monsteras etc. On a backwards note, if you're wanting to try self watering esp with moss or leca, you can cut a strip of microfiber and put it through a hole in your pot and then put the length in water and it will wick the water up to your self watering so you can try it out before you spend a crazy amount on hydro pots! 💞💗

If you use a moisture meter, disinfect it between each use of each plant. Cross-contamination and spreading of root rot can happen this way.

Omg girl! I have a monstera Albo that currently has root rot, it's a baby kind of and I have learned so very much great information from your video then I have from researching the last 3 days. You are so knowledgeable and keep it easy to follow you and you have a great path that you go down. Thank you so much I will be following you and nobody else because you got it girl! I do have two questions. My first question is when you are starting a plant over and running it in water, is it okay to add a rooting supplement to the water? And my second question, I have researched up and down and cannot find anybody talking about this. When reusing a pot the consensus is scrub it was soap and water and blah blah blah. My question is, if you get as much as you can out of the inside of the pot and spray the inside of the pot with neem oil, would that kill anything that might be in there. I'm just thinking that it might be an easy and helpful way to treat. Thank you again for all of your knowledge and I can't wait to check out your other videos.

All I did was take a wooden circular stick and poked holes and went down as far as I could. I got down to a foot or more down. I over watered continuously. I figure that introducing a void where oxygen can freely be accessed from the roots/soil it would benefit and prevent it from completely rotting. Did this to avoid yellowing of leaves.

Do I need to remove the small black spots that the fungus gnats caused on them stems? They look hardened over and not mushy. (Treating the gnats too) -Only lost 1/3 of my roots and my plant was putting out tons of new growth still. The gnats started causing little 1/4 the size of a dime spots on my large monstera stems but went through the root rot treatment anyways.

Thank you!! I am going to try putting my plants in lighter locations. I feel like I’m doing what everyone suggests with chunky mix and I’m still struggling with the soil staying wet. I also go a fan, I’m not sure if that’s a good idea to help aid in soil drying? 😅

I have a golden pothos. She is pretty big and is about 8yrs old. I am currently taking care of it for my mom. I recently pulled it out and it was rootbound. I wasn't aware of trimming so I broke up the roots a lil and repotted. Your video really helped b/c I checked the roots again after trimming and saw a few were slimy. I also put her in too big of a pot. Most of the roots are light brown and brittle. After trimming the bad stuff i placed her in water. The leaves were dropping, turning yellow, brown tip and curling under. I see you said to change the water daily. Will new white roots come from the trimmings?

I currently have a bucket of soil that I am collecting from all the plants that have had issues and needed repotting whether it be rot, pests, or fungus, and I'm currently treating it to be used for outdoor gardening. I am adding beneficial microbes and letting it sit in a super sunny spot, theres way too much unknown organic matter in it for me to stick my house plants into! but its way too good not to go somewhere, only after ive succesfully balanced the microbes and composted the dead roots 😂

I’m hoping you can help me, I can’t find an answer anywhere. Many times I have roots that are dark brown, but they are firm. It’s like they have a coating attached to them and I can scrape it off with my nail. Underneath it seems white and healthy. Is this normal or is this potentially the start of root rot? Should I stop scraping this off or let it alone? Thanks so much for all of your in depth videos, they are so helpful. You usually talk about things I’ve always been wondering. 😊

It’s hard for me to say without seeing it, but do NOT scrape at them. That can cause a wound in the root and allow the bacteria that causes the roots to decay inside.

I then started checking all the plants that I had repotted and they all had root rot. @AlohaPlantLife
@AlohaPlantLife 11 ай бұрын
I will water with a mixture of 2 parts water to 1 part hydrogen peroxide if I suspect the mild start of root rot, and I do it if the plant has pests to try and kill off any of them that might be hiding in the soil.

Root rot 😩. I have gone thru 3 chameleons ZZ. One in Dec ship directly from Costa Farms came wet during the winter. It rotted and couldn’t be save after repotting. 2&3 pot during Memorial weekend it came wet also. I got it right out of the box at Walmart and repotted it right away. Some of the rhizomes were already getting soft. I combine the 2 pots and it slowing dying off. The 2 pots potted together I only have 2 stems left 😢. Why do they ship it so WET. They come very wet shipping to California.
