In this video, I'm going to go over all of those little things that make a motorized bike run and ride that much smoother. Sticky throttle? Air leaks? I've got you covered. Doing some of these things prolongs the life of the bike too! If there's anything I forgot, leave a comment telling me what it was. If there's enough comments I'll make a Pt. 2.
Apologies for the potato mic and camera
Thanks for watching! - feel free to comment feedback or suggestions.

I like this video. These tips are almost priceless. I made many of these mistakes back in '07 on my first kit. This is my second build now it's 2023 and I want it done correctly and well. Last time my older brother (mechanic type guy) did most of it. I'm doing it all by myself this time. This is the second time I'm watching this video and saved it to a favorite folder.

Agreed. What I find most astonishing is I can have a bicycle that's powered by gasoline that goes only 3mph but I need a license and registration on it. But I can have one that's more powerful and goes 20mph as long as it's powered by electricity no license or registration is required...🤔🤔🤔

Great video with lots of useful info. I would add to check the spark plug gap. I've encountered more that one kit with the gap way off. My first build had this issue and after 1 hour plus of troubleshooting I had an "Aha" moment and checked the plug gap. Once properly gapped I was off and riding with no other issues. Also, after 5/10/15 hours of operation check all bolts again as the heating and cooling cycle and vibration tends to loosen some of these.

Chain guard is very important, its not to protect your feet when your chain breaks, but prevents your pant leg from getting caught inside the engine spinning a few thousands RPM, and preventing it from pulling your leg into the spinning gear which would shred your flesh like blender. The chain tensioner is the killer. Run without one before it gets caught inside your spoke while riding 30 mph, stopping you like a giant branch got stuck between your spokes.

Excellent information with one exception. Do not use WD40 for lubrication. As it ages , it turns into a sticky resin which no longer provides lubrication. WD40 is excIellent for holding on the rubber grips, but instead, use TriFlow for throttle and cable lubricant.

The throttle grip is 2-pieces. The black grip slides on to the white plastic cylinder so instead of gluing it you can pull it apart and clean the inside of the grip with some dish soap and if needed you could wrap a couple inches of electrical tape on the plastic to make the fit a little tighter, OR you can replace the grip with any bicycle grip as long as it's stretchy enough to fit over the plastic piece, which is slightly larger than a normal handlebar.

I just got my Engine. Couldn't help but throw the whole thing on in one day. Anyway, I've used some of your tips. But I'm not quite sure of the fuel ratio. I found on some websites and google. Those say 16:1 for the first three gas tanks. And then 20:1 after its broken in. Does that sound about right?
@1ilrx
@1ilrx 11 ай бұрын
Most people run 40:1 I believe because it's the best ratio for performance from what I've heard. The sites say to run 16:1 for break in and 20:1 after just to be safe. A lot of people don't even run a different ratio after broken in and run 40:1 right from the start. My first kit is arriving soon and I'm going to be a little safer and run something like 25:1 or 30:1 or 40:1 like everyone else.
@juicyjams8522
@juicyjams8522 11 ай бұрын
@@1ilrx I've been riding mine a lot now lately and I started with 16:1 and its been going great. I'm on my 2nd tank and plan to go up to 20:1 after my third. Though I can't say I'm getting the "100-150" mg everyone keeps saying it will do. Probably my carburetor needing adjustments.
@1ilrx
@1ilrx 11 ай бұрын
@@juicyjams8522 Yeah, I mean running a ratio like 20:1 will at least make sure your engine is healthier and lasts longer. I haven't heard anyone saying they get 150 mpg, mostly 90 mpg or 100.

@michaeldelay3925
@michaeldelay3925 Жыл бұрын
Steel is better for motorized bikes. The frame bends without cracking. All frames bend, but at the speeds a motor makes a bike go (a bike that wasn't designed for speed), a lot more bending and flexing occurs. Aluminum is lighter and weaker, and is more succeptible to frame failure.
