FYI - Another tip (for the Windows plugin version at least) is that CTRL+Clicking a knob resets it to default position, and CTRL+Clicking upward/downward zones toggles that zone on/off (i.e. bypasses it).

I wish I jumped on the OTT bandwagon along time ago. I had the xfer version for ages but was always kinda like meh, plugin for 15 year olds making wub wubs. Wrote it off and forgot it until last night I dicked around with it on my main output channel when mixing down a track and holy hell is this nice. Sometimes the hype around some things are warranted.

It would of course be cool if you could share your Ableton presets in some format for the standalone plugin version. Maybe with screenshots or something :D It doesn't have to be 100% equivalent, just to see how you set up your presets and get your general ideas for the different use cases. Anyway, thanks for a really good quality video, appreciate it!

I put OTT on a whole DAW mix of mine, here and there. It's really interesting it can give a piece of music this urgent touch, it's like turning on the lights. But then I thought, this is too easy, this is cheating. lol I thought, maybe OTT could be used to give me an inspiration to change a mix and instrumentation. Like re-creating the OTT-cheat-result lol whith different instruments and (standard-)effects. Like replacing a boring bass sound (that OTT turned great), with another bass sound that matches the OTT result. What say you? 😎

Good point, it's also cool to hear what it sounds like with OTT on and then tweak the parameters a bit more to make it suit the mix. Sometimes it squashes the highs too much, for example, so I'll dial back that band a bit.

I love and share the "too easy" perspective. This is why I don't use instrument samples. It's cheating. I'd much rather make my own or at least find a preset and create the music rather than just put together a puzzle that someone else might have already put together. Originality is key to making your track seem interesting. That being said, IMO, using OTT does not take away any originality from your track. If your instruments/melodies are original, adding OTT will only emphasize that and make the track better... very easily. lol

The presets were made in Live 10, so not sure if they are backwards compatible. I would give it a go and see, can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work.

OTT sounds horrible on most audio material. Kills the natural dynamic range instantly.

You don't have to use it on 100%, even just 10% adds a nice effect. Also, it's all relative personal preference. What sounds bad to you might sound great to someone else.
