North Korea doesn't have a lack of food Simple History, Its entire landmass is covered in farmland and greenhouses, It doesn't make sense, The issue is that people there dont get paid enough to pay for food so they go looking for it on their own, This is why there is such a massive crime rate in form of people stealing food from farms in North Korea, There is no lack of food, there is a lack of money. Its as simple as that.

Back during Kim Il-sung's 'reign', a North Korean student in Havana somehow got my address. I received newspapers, magazines, and the collected works of Kim Il-sung. The books were bound in rich leather with gold-edged paper and gold leaf stamping. In the newspapers & magazines, EVERY picture included him & he was always referred to as 'Marshal Kim Il-sung, the beloved father & leader of 40 million Korean people'. That figure included the population of South Korea, too, of course. I often wondered what my mailman thought. LOL!

@TheSameYellowToy
@TheSameYellowToy Жыл бұрын
And just like the bootstraps fallacy, North Korea isn't actually as self-reliant as they pretend to be. They get foreign aid, and the famine they had in the 90's was a result of the fall of the USSR--who had previously supplied them with tons of food and resources for decades--and North Korea didn't have the infrastructure to provide for its own people without the USSR's help. So self-reliant...

It's very common in asia for household helpers to check rice for stones to avoid shattering teeth, having someone check the rice to avoid stones is probably where the idea for "uniformity and plumpness" comes from.

Something I find interesting about North Korea is you can see that as the generations carry on the more and more even the state will start to believe it's pedso religious and cult like propaganda regarding the Kim Jong Dynasty. If you look into the mythology Kim Il-sung used to take power he pretty much made Kim Jong-il into some kind of demi-Christ figure for the North Koreans Kim Il-sung was leading and turned Paektu Mountain and the Forests surrounding it (where his army was held up) into some kind of holy land after establishing North Korea. North Koreans are expected at some point in their lives to visit the site at least once like some kind of pilgrimage so they can see the cabin Kim Jung-suk and Kim Jong-il "lived" while Kim Il-sung was leading the "revolution." Funniest thing about it is this is supposed to be a very special site according to their propaganda (like pretty much equivalent to the manger Christ was born in for them)... but when Kim Jong-il took over in 1991 he visited the site as part of his taking leadership and made comments about the place as if he had never been there before and was shocked by how beautiful a site it was... because Kim Jong-il was born in China while Kim Il-sung had gone into exile after a defeat and even after Kim Il-sung returned to his army that WAS camped on Paektu he left Kim Jong-suk and Kim Jong-il in China for their safety, they did not join him back in North Korea until the campaign gained ground and started pushing South. Both Kim Jong-il and his father Kim Il-sung knew all that mythical child stuff was all made up to rally the people following Kim Il-sung... Kim Jong-un on the other hand was raised to believe the mythology of his father's foretold birth and as the last remaining members of his father's inner circle die there are fewer and fewer people in on the truth that is all BS made up to control the population they could never and would never provide for. Once the leadership falls for the lies they use to control their people; that nation is doomed to emploide in fantastic ways, chances are right now there are a handful of Generals/Oligarchs pulling the strings to keep themselves wealthy while feeding Kim Jong-un to his own delusions, chances are North Korea under the Kim Jong Dynasty has at most one generation left before it faces a revolution from the people or cupe from the military.

Kim Il-Sung's parents were devout Christians (one of the very few churches allowed to operate in North Korea is named after his mom) and he grew up during the Japanese occupation of Korea. Emperor Hirohito was believed to be a descendant of the Shinto sun goddess Amaterasu. No wonder he got the idea to turn himself into a human deity...

@@TheSameYellowToy I've never considered this as the origins for Kim Il-Sung's idea to make his family into a demigod-esc center of North Korea. Thanks for posting this.
