Plenty of animal eyes "glow" in the dark, but only one species has eyes that change color with the seasons.

Probably the last SciShow upload under 5 million subscribers. An incredible achievement, a long time coming, and thoroughly deserved! Thank you team SciShow for making me smarter and wiser than I ever thought I could be. Over the years you've taught me more than I ever knew I needed to know. Congratulations on 5 million subs, an amazing channel!

Winter is more likely to be fairly monochromatic (snow and everything else...) so higher contrast - which may make the fuzziness less of a problem.

"Eurasian Mountain Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus tarandus)" was the species used. The study was done specifically at the University of Tromso, Norway (70 N latitude). I think it applies specifically to the North because that's where environmental conditions produce these results, where the "sun is permanently above the horizon here from mid-May to the end of July and remains below it from late November to late January." The further south you go, the less extreme these long days are, so the effect might be less pronounced. That's just where this study was conducted. Links to sources were in the description.

"I wish I could trade a little blurriness for night vision" You do. Each of our cone cells (color/day) vision is wired to one nerve, producing a crisp image. But our rod cells (night vision) are wired in bulk to a single nerve - something like ten cells per nerve, I think? - so that a little bit of stimulus over a bunch of cells is still enough to trip that nerve. The tradeoff is that you have to draw from a larger area of the retina, meaning the resulting image is fuzzy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_cell#Sensitivity

Well it really doesn’t matter if the mountain lion hunting you looks a little out of focus. As long as you see him!!! Sure you might not be able to make out detail. But why would you want to count his whiskers when he’s going to eat you!!! Knowing he’s there is what’s important. Not if he’s blinking or not!!

Might I just ask (and hopefully will be answered) *Is it normal to get anxious or why do I get nervous when I start playing this particular game?* (refering to mobile legends) I don’t know why but everytime I start up a match, my stomach feels twisted or my hands start to sweat a whole lot. I live in a tropical country and it’s pretty hot but when I play, my hands get very cold so i tend to turn off the fan but then they sweat a lot once I do. Sometimes I play in an airconditioned room thinking my hands won’t get sweaty but then my whole body starts shaking but it wasn’t even that cold. Great, do I have a game anxiety now or what ;-;

woodfur00 I don't think it would have to be behind the eye. At least some of the light would reflect off the retna and the back of the eye. It probably wouldn't be as efficient though. It would just have to be a one way mirror kind of deal.
@woodfur00

Well, bad news: One-way mirrors aren't really one-way. They actually have the same reflectivity on both sides, and the side that can be seen from either direction is whichever side has the most light coming from it.
